Modified Nationals Returns to Grays Harbor Raceway July 17-18

ELMA, Wash. (June 24, 2026) — One of the Pacific Northwest’s premier events for Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds returns to Grays Harbor Raceway on July 17-18 as the Modified Nationals once again offers a lucrative purse and a unique two-day format.

The Modified Nationals will also serve as a Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifier. The winner of Saturday night’s championship feature will earn eligibility to try and qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, held during the 2026 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing National, Washington State, Grays Harbor Raceway track, and DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region points will be awarded on Saturday only.

The weekend culminates with Saturday night’s 40-lap main event paying $7,500 to win and $200 to start. The runner-up will earn $3,500, while third pays $2,000 and fourth receives $1,000. A total purse of more than $20,000 will be on the line for the championship feature.

Friday’s action will determine the majority of the Saturday starting field through a format that rewards both passing and finishing positions. All competitors will compete in two eight-lap heat races, with lineups for the first round determined by pill draw. The second round of heats will be fully inverted from the original heat race lineups.

Depending on car count, competitors will be split into three to seven heat races. Finishing and passing points from both heat races will be combined, with the top 18 drivers in overall points locking directly into Saturday’s 24-car main event.

Drivers outside the top 18 in points will transfer into Saturday’s B Main events, where six additional starting positions in the championship feature will be up for grabs. If multiple B Mains are needed, transfer positions will be divided equally among the qualifying races.

One of the highlights of the weekend will be Friday night’s 25-lap Race of Champions. The special event is open to former Modified Nationals champions, Modified track champions from the past 10 years, and 2025 Grays Harbor Raceway Modified feature winners. Previous Modified Nationals champions will receive priority entry, followed by track champions and Grays Harbor Raceway feature winners until the 20-car field is filled.

The Race of Champions will pay $500 to win, $300 for second, and $250 for third.

On Saturday, the top eight drivers in overall qualifying points will participate in a redraw on the front stretch to determine the first four rows of the main event. Following B Main competition, the 24-car field will take the green flag three-wide for the start of the 40-lap Modified Nationals championship race.

The promoter reserves the right to add provisional starting positions if necessary.
