IMCA Modified stars will shine at Aug. 8-10 Hancock County Speedway specials

BRITT, Iowa – The stars of the IMCA Modified galaxy shine on three consecutive rich nights of racing at Hancock County Speedway. The Night of 1,000 Stars on Thursday, Aug. 8 pays a guaranteed $3,500 to win and $250 to start, plus a bonus of $1,000 to the leader at halfway and another $1,000 if the winner has perfect attendance at Britt this season. Winning the Night of 10,000 Stars on Friday, Aug. 9 pays $7,000, plus $1,000 bonuses to the halfway leader, for perfect attendance and for having won on Thursday as well. A minimum of $300 will be paid to start that main event. And the Saturday, Aug. 10 Bob Shryock Memorial All Stars pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. Deery win at Donnellson another milestone for Aikey

DONNELLSON, Iowa (Aug. 2) – It had been several years since the last time Lee County Speedway hosted the Deery Brothers Summer Series. It had been even longer since Jeff Aikey drove to victory lane following an IMCA Late Model tour race at Donnellson. Both absences ended Friday night. Aikey finally caught passed race-long leader Andy Eckrich with four circuits left in the 40-lapper, then pulled away to the $2,000 checkers. The victory was his second of the season and series-leading career 70th. Aikey’s one previous Lee County win came in April of 1996. “Andy was tremendous out there,” said Aikey, equally quick to compliment the track prep crew at Donnellson. “And what a race track! Pearish prevails at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Aug. 3) – Oronogo’s Bobby Pearish thought he had it easy in The Bad Boy Mowers IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Springfield Raceway, until a lap 18 caution waved putting Arkansas hotshoe Shawn Walsh and Chris Tonoli right on his back bumper. A strong restart kept Pearish on point as he captured his second feature win of the season. Starting sixth on the grid, Pearish wasted no time in going to the front on the fast paced ¼-mile high-banked oval as a surprise Friday evening rain storm really had the track hooked up but still smooth. While Pearish was running through the middle groove, Walsh began his charge from the 10th starting spot and then Tonoli found a quick line three-fourth’s up the race track and was closing. Most is too much for IMCA Modified Blowout foes at US 36

(Aug. 2) – Every division had an increased payout on the line Friday at US 36 Raceway, but the IMCA Modifieds had the most to fight for with a $1,500 check going home with Josh Most, winner of the Modified Blowout presented by Lent Prints. Clay Hale and Steven Bowers started the race from the front row for the 25-lap race, with Bowers taking the advantage into the opening corner. While Bowers paced the race early, Most began working his way from eighth starting. Most moved through the field by running alternate lines from the rest of the field. Most had moved to third before the yellow flew on lap seven. On the restart, Most advanced to second while Chad Clancy moved into the picture as he took third, after starting 11th. A few laps after the restart, Most and Bowers made contact in turn one. Most let Bowers collect himself before making another attempt at taking the lead away. SPENCER, Iowa (Aug. 2) – IMCA Modifieds will be on the road to Clay County Fair Speedway for round six of the Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour. The Monday, Aug. 5 feature pays $1,500 to win and is a qualifying event for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. at Spencer, hometown of series title sponsor Arnold Motor Supply. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. IMCA Stock Car Series returns to Sunset Speedway Park

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – The inaugural season of the Big Sky Landscaping IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Series is back in action at Sunset Speedway Park this Saturday, Aug. 3. The tour has ventured to the Banks Bullring on three occasions in 2019 and has seen three different winners. Jerry Schram, Kevin Roberts, and Donald Schott are the three SSP winners this year. Overall, Schram is tied for most wins with Sean Gentry with two wins each. However, Schram is the only driver to have two wins at two different tracks. Roberts, Schott, Dakota Godard and Brian Cronk all have won with the series once during the current campaign. It will be Kids’ Night at Banks, which means that children ages 12 and under get in free. First from Oregon to qualify, Ferrando has sights on return to Modified dance at Super Nationals

STAYTON, Ore. – Grey Ferrando made history last September as the first driver from Oregon to qualify for the Modified main event at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Gustin capitalizes on late-race opportunity for Dirt Knights Tour triumph at Kossuth County

ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 1) – In the right place at the right time, Richie Gustin won Thursday’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour main event at Kossuth County Speedway. A bobble with three laps left by Jeremy Mills opened the door for Gustin, who zoomed by to take the $1,500 checkers and his fourth win of the 2019 IMCA Modified tour. The 37th annual Super Nationals runs Sept. 2-7.
