VINTON, Iowa – Another eight IMCA Modified drivers are eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational following recent feature wins that paid $1,000 or more. IMCA Speedweek success for Shryock at friendly confines of Kossuth County

ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 5) – The track where Kelly Shryock earned his 500th career feature win became the site of his first IMCA Speedweek victory. Shryock checked out on his IMCA Modified foes Thursday evening, taking the $2,100 checkers at Kossuth County Speedway. “We’ve been working pretty hard and everything has fallen into place for us at the right time,” Shryock said. “We have a had a good car on the flatter tracks. It’s been a great season for us.” He’d started fourth and drove by Nick Meyer and Zane DeVilbiss for the lead early in the 20-lap Denny Hovinga/Gary Harken Memorial main event at Algona. Never seriously challenged, Shryock won ahead of Jeremy Mills. The low line worked for Zach Dochter over the second half of the race as he zipped past DeVilbiss and nearly caught Mills for runner-up honors. Kollin Hibdon completed the top five. Big payday for Beckendorf at Sibley County Fair Shootout

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 4) – Brandon Beckendorf picked up the win in his first time ever competing in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature during the Sibley County Fair Shootout special Wednesday night. Beckendorf earned $2,500 for his checkered flag finish plus $2,415 for leading 15 laps, making for a $4,915 payday. Thirty-seven Stock Cars signed in for the Arlington Raceway midweek special and Dean Cornelius and Chanse Hollatz drew front row starts. Both had their work cut out as there was a stout field cars behind them. Hollatz and Cornelius swapped the lead over the first four laps before Cornelius settled into the front spot. Beckendorf appeared on Cornelius’ tail and the two raced side-by-side until lap 11, when Beckendorf took charge. JEFFERSON, S.D. – The eighth annual running of the IMCA Iron Cup at Park Jefferson Speedway is coming on Aug. 9-10. One of the crown jewels of racing in Siouxland, the pursuit for coveted Iron Cups brings very fierce competition to Park Jefferson Speedway. Monday, Aug. 9 will feature the preliminary night of action as IMCA Modifieds run a format that mirrors the Marshalltown Speedway World Nationals. Drivers will compete in a pair of rounds of heat races to lock the top drivers in points into the “A” feature. MEMPHIS, Tenn. – FAST marks an IMCA sponsorship milestone in 2021, giving awards to drivers in three divisions for a fifth consecutive season. The Memphis, Tenn., high performance parts manufacturer and a brand of the Edelbrock Group gives ignition boxes to national Modified, Late Model and Stock Car rookies of the year and $100 product certificates to the other Modified and Stock Car drivers earning top regional rookie awards. Abelson answers challenge with IMCA Speedweek victory at BVR

ALTA, Iowa (Aug. 4) – Round three took IMCA Speedweek to Buena Vista Raceway, where Chris Abelson, Devin Smith, Brandon Nielsen and Rusty Montagne all raced to $1,000 Lynn DeWall Memorial feature wins. While Abelson was scored first every time around the track in Wednesday’s IMCA Modified main event, upstart Kollin Hibdon nearly stole the lead away with a late slide job. Despite fuel pressure issues, Abelson answered that challenge and pulled back ahead, then eased away from his young challenger. Hibdon had made his way from eighth starting to second just seven circuits into the 20-lapper. LaCrosse, Richards lead the way at Outagamie Speedway

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 3) – Benji LaCrosse and Kenny Richards were IMCA winners Tuesday night at Outagamie Speedway. Kelsy Hayes paced the opening laps of the IMCA Modified feature until Greg Gretz raced by up top on lap three. Gretz immediately came under fire from LaCrosse, who was able to slip by for the lead on five. Gretz was up for the challenge and dogged the leader until midway, when Johnny Whitman came to call, racing to second and setting the fastest laps on the track. A caution with three laps remaining bunched the field. As the green flew LaCrosse kept the competition at bay to score the feature win. Whitman had to settle for second, Brian Mullen rallied late to place third, Gretz was fourth and Wyatt Block Jr. rounded out the top five.
