Luinenburg is awesome at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 15) – Blake Luinenburg had an awesome first night racing at Arlington Raceway, starting eighth in his heat and finishing second, then starting 11th in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature and contending for the lead by the fourth lap of the race. Chad Volk took the lead from his front row start but soon Cory Probst was on his tail and by the third lap, the three drivers were racing side-by-side. Two laps later, Luinenburg was commanding the race and despite several yellow flags was able to hold onto the lead to win the race. Matt Olson moved up from his 10th place starting spot to take second ahead of Ben Reierson.  Brandon Beckendorf added another “W” to his impressive early season total in the IMCA Modifieds and the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature saw Michael Stien of lead the entire 15 lap distance.  Jr. Esqueda of Granada won his first feature of the year in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts, topping a field of 24 cars and Matt Looft was the [Read More]

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (May 15) – Two drivers returned to victory lane after several years’ absence, one driver made his first-ever appearance on the winner’s stage at the track and two drivers took repeat wins Saturday at Boone Speedway. Chase Rudolf and Josh Gilman led the IMCA Modified field to green, with Gilman gaining the upper hand and taking command. Gilman was challenged several times by Andy Tiernan but it was to no avail as Gilman went on to take the checkers in the caution-free contest. This was Gilman’s first weekly win since 2011 at Boone. Tiernan had to be content with second place, Rudolf finished third, Clint Wendel was fourth, and Jimmy Gustin raced from 10th starting to take fifth. The Class Too Tough To Tame, the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars ran their usual entertaining 20-lap race.  There was lots of close racing action up front with David Smith taking the early race lead. Reynolds wraps up big win at Indee

By Jeremy Fox  INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (May 15) – Defending track champion Kaden Reynolds was the $1,000 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock winner Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway. Tyler Ollendieck and Jackson Vsetecka led the field to the green flag in the Albert Auto sponsored 20-lap feature with Ollendieck taking the top spot early. The caution came out on lap six when Justin Ginther spun in turn four and then again on the restart when Jared Miller came to a stop in turn one.  Ollendieck continued to lead the way but Reynolds had worked his way to second so it wasn’t going to be long before a battle of the race lead developed. On lap 12, the pair came together on the back stretch which resulted in Ollendieck spinning and allowed Reynolds to take over the top spot on the restart.  Reynolds pulled away on the restart only to see the caution on lap 17 for debris and then a caution on lap 19 forcing a green, white, checkered. Reynolds held on to take his third win in [Read More]

Bolac flies to RaceSaver win at home track

By Jim Haines ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (May 14) – The first visit to his home turf at Dixieland Speedway this season had local fans happy as Daren Bolac swept the evening, winning his heat and leading ever lap of the Virginia Sprint Series feature Friday night. Chris Ware and Bolac paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green with Bolac out first with Mike Leraas and Ben McCall giving chase as the high line showed to be the fastest. Soon after, Dylan Shatzer, Billy Hubbard and C.J. Faison were after McCall for third.  Bolac and Leraas inched away from the field as the third place battle raged lap after lap on the tricky, fast oval. McCall tried to close on Leraas but slipped up, spun and had to rejoin the back of the field, leaving Shatzer, Faison and Hubbard to continue to race for third. Bolac and Leraas stayed smooth to keep their space but Shatzer had to really rim ride to keep his advantage as he tried everything to close in but the [Read More]

Kinderknecht passing IMCA STARS Mod Lite tests

SALINA, Kan. – Justin Kinderknecht made the decision last year that when racing resumed full swing, he’d travel more often to test his on-track skills against more drivers from more parts of the country.  The IMCA STARS Mod Lite driver from Salina, Kan., has passed every test so far, starting in Florida and most recently during a quick midweek trip to Iowa.  “You can’t get better racing the same guys at the same tracks,” Kinderknecht reasoned. “I made it a goal last season to travel more and see how I stacked up. Any time you can run top five at somebody else’s track it’s a good night.” He won the race of champions and posted a pair of top four finishes in Sugar Bowl Winter Nationals starts at Hendry County Motorsports Park in February before racing closer to home at Valley Speedway and Salina Speedway. Kinderknecht then racked up three straight checkers, at 81 Speedway before venturing to Iowa and on back-to-back nights May 5 at Stuart Speedway’s Bill Davis Sr. Memorial and May 6 [Read More]

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (May 12) – A dominating run ended with Todd Shute standing in victory lane at Stuart Speedway’s Jake Durbin Memorial. Shute and Josh Gilman made up the front row of the IMCA Modified headliner, and Shute led Gilman and Matthew Meinecke early with the rest of the field two- and three-wide behind.  Chase Rudolf made it to third on lap eight, but it was all Shute on this night as he drove to the caution-free win, worth $1,000. Already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, Shute won ahead of Gilman in second with Rudolf third.  One hundred and thirty-four cars rolled into town for the Wednesday night show. Other IMCA winners were Damon Murty, Josh May, Brandon Cox, Hunter Longnecker and Craig Furstenau.  Michael Jeannette and Bob Daniels led the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars to the green flag next with Jeannette leading early.
