Reynolds wraps up big win at Indee

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (May 15) – Defending track champion Kaden Reynolds was the $1,000 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock winner Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway.

Tyler Ollendieck and Jackson Vsetecka led the field to the green flag in the Albert Auto sponsored 20-lap feature with Ollendieck taking the top spot early. The caution came out on lap six when Justin Ginther spun in turn four and then again on the restart when Jared Miller came to a stop in turn one. 

Ollendieck continued to lead the way but Reynolds had worked his way to second so it wasn’t going to be long before a battle of the race lead developed. On lap 12, the pair came together on the back stretch which resulted in Ollendieck spinning and allowed Reynolds to take over the top spot on the restart. 

Reynolds pulled away on the restart only to see the caution on lap 17 for debris and then a caution on lap 19 forcing a green, white, checkered. Reynolds held on to take his third win in Indee this year. Jacob Floyd, Luke Bird, Gary Ollendieck and Justin Hanson rounded out the top five. 

Hanson was the hard charger, moving up 21 spots. 

Darren Ackerman led start to finish in the IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature and Dylan Thornton led Troy Cordes and Derrick Stewart across in the IMCA Modified main.

Tom Schmitt prevailed in an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main that ended green, white, checkered, with Philip Holtz second and Cole Mather third. Justin Becker collected the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod victory in front of Brett Thomas and Kyle Olson.

Sunoco bonuses awarded at Independence, Dubuque this weekend

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 1, 2023) – Sunoco Race Fuels bonuses will be awarded when IMCA Late Models hit the track for big events this weekend at Independence Motor Speedway and at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway. The divisional title sponsor awards $250 bonuses to feature winners on Saturday, June 3 during the Hall of Fame Night show at Indee and Sunday, June 4 on Fan Appreciation Night at Dubuque. Drivers can get the bonus one time in a season; the $250 will be awarded to the top finishing non-winning driver any night the winner has previously received the bonus. Deery Series doubleheader next at Maquoketa, Independence

MAQUOKETA, Iowa – Deery Brothers Summer Series drivers return to a pair of famil­iar venues next week, with $2,000 to win features Tuesday, June 18 at Maquoketa Speedway and Wednesday, June 19 at Independence Motor Speedway. Both IMCA Late Model main events pay a minimum of $300 to start.  Maquoketa, the site of a dozen previous Deery events, opens the pit gates at 3:15 p.m. Racing follows 6:15 p.m. hot laps, with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods on the program as well. Independence Motor Speedway to host two nights of practice

By Jerry Mackey INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The Independence Motor Speedway will once again roar to life with the sweet sounds of racing engines this weekend. On Friday, May 8, the IMCA Modifieds. IMCA Sunoco Late Models and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will be allowed to practice. On Saturday, May 9, the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks will be welcomed to the speedway. By splitting the divisions and running practice both nights, the governor’s guidelines for the Covid-19 virus will be much easier to follow. Unfortunately the grandstands will be closed and all crew members must remain with their cars in the infield. Ten persons will be allowed entrance to the pit area with each race car. The race track will be open both nights for practice from 5:30-9 p.m.   The season opener is set to take the first green flag on Saturday, May 16.
