By Coty Mallicoat BOONE, Iowa (May 10, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks were the final race of the night at Boone Speedway, and it would be a wild one at “Iowa’s Action Track.” From early on, it appeared that John Watson and Joe Doran had the fastest cars on the track. However, as the race was sorted out, they both could see the leaders out front, but several caution flags continued to reset their momentum. Watson, who started 12th, and Doran, who started 18th, failed to get to the lead before the race’s end. Meanwhile, Kolby Sabin and Cory VanderWilt worked up from their fourth row starting positions to the front. When the checkers flew, it was Sabin earning his first B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region win of the season, followed by VanderWilt and Justin Frederick. By Ben Deatherage KENNEDALE, Texas (May 10, 2025) — The second annual Mike Melton Memorial at Kennedale Speedway Park drew a packed house as Mike’s daughter, Michelle Parson, led a four-wide salute before the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car main event. When the green flag dropped, Taco Casa Racing teammates John Carney II and Jeb Sessums shared the front row, with Carney taking the early lead in the no. J2 entry. Sessums pressured Carney throughout the first half of the race, briefly slipping ahead on lap 14 before the two-time Texas State and KSP track champion pulled to the infield with mechanical issues. As Carney navigated through lapped traffic, Ryder LaPlante and Marcus Thomas waged a fierce battle for second. A red flag on lap 19 briefly slowed the action, but Carney remained firmly in control, extending his lead after each restart. Thomas, a four-time Texas State and 2017 National champion, finally secured second from LaPlante with three laps to go, but Carney was untouchable, cruising to his first win of the season. Kepner Selinsgrove Winner

By Frank Buhrman SELINSGROVE. Pa. (May 10, 2025) — If you looked at Kruz Kepner’s record in the first two River Valley Builders PA Sprint Series races in 2025, this was inevitable. First the veteran from Kreamer fell victim to circumstances and started 25th in the season opener at Port Royal, then roared through the field to finish sixth. Then, at his home track, Selinsgrove, less than 10 miles away, he started fourth and finished a strong third. Saturday night, back at Selinsgrove, he drew the pole, led all the way and scored his first win of this year, second at Selinsgrove, and seventh of his career. But it wasn’t easy. Josh Spicer trailed the no. 19 “Kruz Missile” for most of the show, but he lost his position to Logan Spahr in the closing laps. Spahr then made a determined effort to get by Kepner, only to have third-place Spicer spin with three laps to go, taking the leaders out of traffic and setting up a duel at the finish. Despite intense pressure from Spahr, Kepner held [Read More]
