XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour event on for tonight at Algona

ALGONA, Iowa (July 1) – The XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour event will be held as scheduled tonight (Tuesday) at Algona Raceway. Touring IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds headline Algona’s Salute to Veterans Spectacular in a $2,000 to win main event. The runner-up earns $1,050, with $950 paid for third and $850 for fourth. Top prize for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars is $1,500 while Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks both vie for $1,200 to win. The Mach-1 Sport Compact feature pays $200 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded; Modifieds also get special series points. Winners in all divisions receive six-foot tall trophies. Cruisers complete the program. All classes will be draw/redraw and features will start 24 cars. Independence Deery Series washed out, postponed to Aug. 6

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 1) – Persistent heavy rain in recent days has forced the postponement of the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models event at Independence Motor Speedway. Originally slated for tonight (Tuesday), it has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 6. Start times and prices will remain the same. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Kids 11 and under will be admitted free if accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $30. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods were also scheduled to join the Late Models in the July 1 program and will remain part of the Aug. 6 make-up date. The winner’s share of the Northern SportMod feature has been raised from $500 to $600. The Hobby Stock feature will also pay $100 more than originally advertised. That feature winner will earn $400. Hogge aces Nor-Cal feature at Antioch

ANTIOCH, Calif. (June 28) – Bobby Hogge IV fought his way to the top, picking off the highly competitive field of drivers one by one in winning Saturday’s Nor-Cal Challenge Series main event for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Antioch Speedway. “I had some problems in the middle of the race,” Hogge said in victory lane. “I almost spun out once.” Coming from 12th starting position in the 16-car field, Hogge watched as a battle waged for the lead between Kellen Chadwick and Ryan McDaniel. Wassenberg notches Northern SportMod win at Shawano

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (June 28) – A high-speed chess match Saturday at Shawano Speedway ended with Tracy Wassenberg in victory lane following the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main event. Lucas Lamberies shot from fourth to the lead on the first lap while Wassenberg moved into second on the fifth go-around, setting up that high-speed chess match. Lap after lap with Lamberies leading, Wassenberg tried to get inside and get to the front. Wassenberg showed his nose to the Clintonville teenager numerous times and Lamberies showed great poise staying in the lead. Wassenberg kept trying to get inside of Lamberies until lap 18 when he tried the outside and the pair were virtually side-by-side as the white flag waved. Wassenberg pulled ahead on the final lap and scored his fourth win of the year. Lamberies took second. Jordan Bartz started last by taking the challenge and finished third. Defending champions among pre-entries for Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour

MANDAN, N.D. – Defending champions Aaron Turnbull and Elijah Zevenbergen are among the 88 drivers from 15 states and Canada already entered for the July 6-11 Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win Thursday at Luxemburg

SportMod Nationals resume July 4 at Hancock County

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (June 30) – Heavy rainfall prevented completion of the annual IMCA Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod Nationals on Thursday, June 26 at Hancock County Speedway in Britt. All main events were washed out in the storm. Persistent showers and clouds hampered track drying efforts on the scheduled Friday, June 27 rain date. All remaining feature events, including the 25-lap MaxYield Seed SportMod Nationals main event, will be run Friday, July 4 prior to regular weekly racing action. Hot laps begin at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Twenty-eight cars are slated to start the SportMod Nationals finale. Williamson wins fourth Cottage Grove Modified Nationals crown

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (June 28) – Jesse Williamson added a career fourth Cottage Grove IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified Nationals trophy to his collection Saturday night. The victory paid $1,520 and came at the end of a 50-lap main event. Jeremy Shank, Nick Trenchard, Kyle Casson and Braedon Hand rounded out the top five in the Pacific Northwest racing jewel. Williamson was in the lead from the start and set a rapid pace but had to negotiate lapped traffic around the lap 17 mark. A lap 21 caution bunched up the field and a mandatory caution stopped the race at halfway.
