Arnold Motor Supply continues as title sponsor for IMCA Northern, Southern Stock Car regions

SPENCER, Iowa – Both Northern and Southern Regions for IMCA Stock Cars benefit from title sponsorship of Arnold Motor Supply again in 2014. The Spencer, Iowa-headquartered auto parts retailer, a division of the Arnold Group of Companies, furnishes portions of $3,750 point funds to be paid to top 10 drivers in both regional point standings for a second consecutive season. Each regional championship will be worth $1,500. Point fund shares will be distributed during the national awards banquet in November or mailed from the IMCA home office beginning the following week. Drivers are required display two Arnold Motor Supply decals in designated locations on their race car to be eligible for regional point fund monies. Arnold Motor Supply has more than 50 stores, and 20 full-service machine shops, in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska. Kay’s Deery Series tires pass lab test

VINTON, Iowa (May 8) – The tires that took Justin Kay to the checkers in Sunday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series feature at Quad City Speedway passed testing at an independent laboratory with flying colors. Tire samples were sent for chemical testing. “We have results from the lab, which verified the tires were legal,” Tour Director Kevin Yoder said. “Race results have been declared official and Justin has been paid the $3,000 for his win.” Random tire sampling will continue throughout the IMCA Late Model tour as well as at events for other sanctioned divisions this season.

141, Luxemburg announce Two Track Challenge Series

By Greg Aregoni LUXEMBURG, Wis. – Luxemburg Speedway and 141 Speedway are excited to announce a partnership with the Two Track Challenge Series. This championship will be based on the combined points of both tracks. The IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will be the participating divisions. The 2014 series will be split into two sessions. The first session will end halfway through the season on June 14. The second session will end on Aug. 29. “We thought this would be a great way to help drivers who already race both tracks. Repeat Stock Car win for Smith at Algona

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 3) – David Smith took the lead with three laps left and drove to his second straight IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win Saturday night at Algona Raceway. Pole starter David Wickman was the early leader before John Wiemann grabbed the lead on lap three. A four-car breakaway and door-to-door battle by David Smith, Kevin Opheim, Derek Green and Wiemann ensued until with three laps to go, Smith took the lead and went onto the victory for the second straight week. The 10th starting Green ended up second with Wiemann taking third, Opheim fourth and Devin Smith fifth. Clay Evans on the pole never gave up the top spot in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main. Benton County Speedway hosts May 13 XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour opener

VINTON, Iowa – Opening night brings the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour back to the first track the IMCA Modified division called home. The Tuesday, May 13 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature at Benton County Speedway pays $1,000 to win, a minimum of $150 to start, and is a qualifying event for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Previous tour winners at Vinton include Vern Jackson of Waterloo in 2011, Jeff Waterman of Quincy, Ill., in 2012 and Cayden Carter of Oskaloosa last May. Clash at the Creek pre-entry is open

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. –Wednesday and Thursday, June 25 and 26 mark the dates of 141 Speedway’s sixth annual Clash at the Creek. Sunset Speedway Park opens with The Iron Woman 50 and Ladies Night

Not only will it be the first race of the new campaign but it will be Ladies Night and all female spectators get into the races for only $5. Classes in action for that evening will include the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars, and the Women’s division. It will also be a special event for the Women’s classification as they will participate in the Iron Woman 50. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., the front gates open at 3:30 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are adults $12, seniors, military and juniors (ages 13-17) $10, kids (ages 6-12) $5 and children five and under are free. Shawano Speedway preps for Saturday opener

SHAWANO, Wis. – After Mother Nature hit us with her best shot, Shawano Speedway is finally kicking off its season this weekend, May 9 and 10. On Friday, tech inspection for late models and 4-cylinders begins at 3 p.m. behind the grandstands. Drivers can pit inside if they prefer. Safety checks (belts, helmets, etc.) only will be done for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Practice starts at 5:30 p.m. The session continues as long as enough cars are on the track. Cost is $10 per car. There is no charge for spectators. Concessions, including pizza, popcorn and beverages, will be sold. Tech inspection for the three IMCA divisions starts at 3 p.m. Saturday. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 p.m. Spectator elimination races are also on the program. The track will be worked all week and the Long Haul Fan Award goes to a family making a five-hour drive for practice on Friday and racing on Saturday.
