AFCO starts third decade of partnership with IMCA

BOONVILLE, Ind. – AFCO begins its third decade as a marketing partner with IMCA by giving contingency awards to drivers in five divisions. Top three eligible drivers in each of the five IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified regions earn product certificates worth $250, $150 and $50, respectively, while the top three in both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car regions receive $200, $100 and $50 certificates. The Boonville, Ind., manufacturer also gives certificates good for $125, $75 and $50 based on national point standings for the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and for Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods. Carload Special for round four at Sunset Speedway Park

Also for this event is Carload Special, which gets a carload, truck­load, RV-load, etc. of fans into the races for only $25. Classes in action include the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Women’s and 4-Bee’s. Doug Lockwood and Bubba Foster are the only two drivers to have won in the IMCA Modifieds so far in 2014. John Ireland leads the table in victories in Street Stock competition with two over Earl Claypool Jr.’s one. Dan Lewis Photography will have checkered flags for purchase to put those signatures on. The autograph session will take place at intermission. The night is sponsored by Jim Olson Motors of Sturgeon Bay. A brand new GM 602 crate engine will go to one lucky racer in the IMCA Northern SportMod or IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division at the 2014 banquet courtesy of Jim Olson Motors. Algoma Motors Night is Friday at Luxemburg Speedway

Algoma Motors will be sponsoring the event which kicks off at 7 p.m. This show will include our weekly divisions. Troy Jerovetz picked up his first IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature win of the season last week. It was only his second night of the season at Luxemburg. Jason Czarapata shows the way in the standings ahead of young guns Brad Lautenbach and Johnny Whitman by six and eight points, respectively. Brandon Czarapata got back to his winning ways last week after heavy pressure from Rob Waechter. Cedar County hosts June 10 Deery Series, XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour twinbill

TIPTON, Iowa (June 4) – Another midweek race date has both the Deery Brothers Summer Series and XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour at Cedar County Raceway in Tipton next Tuesday, June 10. IMCA Late Models will run for $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start in what will now be the sixth Deery Series event of the season. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds vie in a $1,000 to win, minimum $150 to start feature. SportMod Challenge tops June action at Davenport Speedway

DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 4) – Four Fridays of exciting racing action are planned for the Davenport Speedway in the month of June. The month starts out this Friday, June 6, when the regular weekly racing program is joined by an appearance of the Midwest Jalopies. Race fans get a chance to re-live the racing past as the vintage racing coupes compete on the quarter-mile oval. The night’s racing action is sponsored by Kile Motorsports. Friday, June 13, brings the SportMod Challenge and $2,000 will go to the winner of the 50-lap main event in the growing Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division. Sample is double winner in I-80 Challenge Series

BATTLE MOUNTAIN, Nev. (May 30-31) – Cory Sample couldn’t have asked for a better opening weekend for the inaugural I-80 Challenge Series. Sample won both IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified features, picking up $1,000 for Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31 victories during Battle Mountain Raceway’s Frank Iturriaga NAPA Memorial special. “I had pretty good luck drawing all weekend so that helped,” said the new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot candidate. “I’ve won $1,000 to win races before but never two of them back to back.” “The weekend before I’d broken the gas pedal at a $1,000 to win show in California,” he added, “so this was a whole lot better weekend.” Sample started on the Friday pole but fell back to third behind Ward Amberson and Randy Artz. Cooney is lightning fast in shortened Stuart show

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 1) –Cody Cleghorn and Shannon Anderson won the make-up features from the Ron Little Memorial a week ago, and Todd Cooney won a shortened IMCA Late Model feature before the weather took over again Sunday at Stuart Speedway. Cleghorn led all the way to pick up the Mach-1 Sport win. Anderson took charge on lap six of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main and kept Austin Luellen at bay to the checkers. As the skies turned darker to the west and the heat races came to an end, the decision was made to move the IMCA Late Models up to the first feature with Randy Faux and Paul Conrad drawing the front row.
