Another Kansas special, another sweep for Grabouski

(April 1-2) – Another early-season special in Kansas ended with Jordan Grabouski headed home to Nebraska with two more Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature wins and a pair of $1,000 checks. Grabouski swept Friday and Saturday feature events at Salina Speedway’s DirtFest, leading start to finish in 25-lap headliners both nights. “We have drawn good and the car has been really good,” said Grabouski, also the winner both nights at RPM Speedway’s Sunflower Classic the weekend before. ”We’ve had a lot of fun the last couple weekends. Hopefully we can keep that up.” Grabouski drew the outside row two start on opening night and the inside row two start on Saturday. Raceway Park opens with April 8, 9 IMCA Spring Nationals

JEFFERSON, S.D. – There’s a $1,000 to win main event for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and $2,000 in potential bonus money for four other sanctioned divisions at Raceway Park’s Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9 Spring Nationals. Saturday’s Modified feature is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event and pays a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Mach-1 Sport Compacts each night pay $500 to win. First track points awarded this week at Osky, Donnellson

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – First weekly points races of the 2016 season are on the ticket Wednesday, April 6 at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa and Friday, April 8 at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Mach-1 Sport Compact drivers get free admission and there is no entry fee for the lidlifter at Osky. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Drivers in the sanctioned Modified, Stock Car, Northern SportMod and Sport Compact divisions get in for half-price at Donnellson. INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win at Independence Motor Speedway’s season-opening Spring Break special this Saturday, April 9. Cottage Grove opener is Saturday, first 60 fans get in free

This year marks the 60th year of action at the historic ¼-mile clay oval and a special promotion will be offered for fans. The first 60 people in line when the front gates open at 4 p.m. will get into the race for free. Humphries takes checkers in Virginia Sprint Series opener

(April 2) – On a windy and cold Saturday night, the Virginia Sprint Series kicked off at Shenandoah Speedway and the cat and mouse chase between Tom Humphries and Jerald Harris continued. Humphries topped the trophy dash, then came out on top of the main event for IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Cars. Charlie Ware and Tony Harris paced the feature field to green with Harris out first and Humphries and Jerald Harris right behind. The leader bobbled on lap two and Humphries shot to the front, leaving the Harris brothers to fight over second. Jerald got by on lap eight and set off after Humphries for the last half of the race. Late caution benefits Brown at Britt IMCA Frost Buster

BRITT, Iowa (April 3) – The caution flag that waved late in Sunday’s Frost Buster for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds feature at Hancock County Speedway actually came out at the right time for leader Kyle Brown. Brown had pretty much checked out and was catching up with traffic running the same line before the yellow appeared with five circuits left in the 20-lapper. He stayed in front following the ensuing restart to take the $1,000 win a couple car lengths ahead of Kelly Shryock. Completing the top five were Jay Noteboom, Adam Larson and Tim Ward. Early leader Trent Loverude was sixth. “I was kind of glad we had that yellow. Gearhart squeezes by for late win at Dodge City

(April 2) – Cody Gearhart squeezed by race-long leader Beau Davis on the 17th circuit to capture his first local Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victory since June of 2013, on opening night at Dodge City Raceway Park. “That really was a tale of two races,” Gearhart said in victory lane after the 20-lapper. “I was getting passed at one point, then things all worked out.” Gearhart spent the early portion of the race chasing Davis, who gunned into the lead from the front row outside. Gearhart briefly fell back a spot when William Nusser battled by to claim second at the midway point. Nusser looped it the next time around in turn four, collecting fourth-runner Cole Traugott in the process. Back up to second, Gearhart kept the pressure on Davis and capitalized when the leader bobbled in turns thee and four on the 16th lap. Farley Speedway to host April 8 open practice

The pit area will open at 5 p.m. and the track will open at 7 p.m. and will remain open until all race teams have had several opportunities to practice. The grandstand will be open free of charge; admission to the pits will carry a $20 charge. Farley Speedway will open the 2016 racing season on Friday, April 15 with a special night of racing featuring the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models. The 50-lap main event will award the winner $2,000. In addition to Late Models, the Precision Transmission Modifieds will also be in action.
