Braaksma best at Boone in IMCA Modified Frostbuster

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (April 3) – Boone Speedway opened its doors for the 2021 season with the running of the Frostbuster special and 178 race cars put on a show for the crowd on hand. Already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, Ethan Braaksma put $1,000 in his pocket as he dominated the IMCA Modified feature, leading all laps on his way to victory.  Todd Shute finished in the runner-up spot, Kyle Brown came from 10th to finish third, Tim Ward was fourth, and veteran racer Kelly Shryock was fifth. Johnathon Logue took home the trophy in the 25-lap Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature, capturing his first-ever Frostbuster win at  Iowa’s Action Track. It’s Carter in a breeze in IMCA Modified main event at Marshalltown Frostbuster

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 2) – Cayden Carter collected a second IMCA Modified win in as many Frostbuster starts on a brisk Friday evening at Marshalltown Speedway.  One hundred and ninety-four cars, 53 Modifieds among them, saw action on the Highbanks. The 25-lap main event ran green after a caution on the initial start and Carter led all but the first circuits, leading Kyle Brown into and through lapped traffic before taking the $1,000 checkers.  “The draw helped a lot and we had a good, smooth track to run on,” said Carter, also the Frostbuster winner at Stuart and already a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational candidate. “We had a good car again tonight. IMCA Stock Cars chase $5,000 King of the Highbanks check at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The fabled highbanks of Marshalltown Speedway are the setting for the $5,000 to win King of the Highbanks special for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Thursday and Friday, April 8 and 9.  Stock Cars will run two sets of heats on Thursday with the top 10 in points locked into Friday’s main event. Entry fee for the weekend is $100. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers with a $20 entry fee each night. Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks both race for $500 each night and IMCA Stars Mod Lites complete the Friday card.  Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 7:15 p.m. both nights. COLBY, Kan. – Thomas County Speedway opens the new season with five IMCA divisions running both nights of the Friday and Saturday, April 9 and 10 Havoc on the Hi-Plains.  IMCA Modifieds run for $500 to win on Friday and for $1,000, plus a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth, on Saturday.  IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $400 to win on Friday and $750 on Saturday; Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks both for $300 on Friday and $500 on Saturday; and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $125 on Friday and $200 on Saturday. Oberlin building foundation for future with five IMCA divisions on Friday race programs

OBERLIN, Kan. – Five IMCA divisions become part of the Friday night racing foundation at Oberlin Speedway. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts will be featured on May 14, June 25, July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 3 programs.  Co-promoters Joseph Herskowitz Jr. and Nick Kane have traveled across the area, with stops in Colorado and Nebraska, distributing schedules to boost car counts and spectator attendance in their first year at the northwest Kansas venue. “We know it’s going to take some work to get drivers and that you have to have cars to get the fans,” explained Herskowitz. “We are going to keep things simple this year. IMCA Frostbuster starts 60th season at Stuart Speedway

By Josh Reynolds  STUART, Iowa (March 30) – The engines came to life Tuesday evening with drivers from all around in attendance for the IMCA Frostbuster opener at Stuart Speedway. Feature winners for the night were Cay­den Carter, Dallon Murty, Brayton Carter and Brandon Cox. Tony Hilgenberg and Jake McBirnie led a stacked IMCA Modified field to the green flag with Clay Money getting the jump from his fourth starting spot to lead lap one. Derrick Stewart slid into second on lap three as Money continued to lead. A couple yellows in the middle of the race tightened the field and set up a great run to the finish.
