34 Raceway celebrates 50th season with $1.50 grandstand admission

By Dana Royer WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – 34 Raceway fans will get a blast from the past this Saturday night, July 18, when they celebrate 50 seasons of racing at its current location just off Highway 34 west of West Burlington. Go back in time with a vintage car show from 4-6 p.m. as well as a meet and greet with past and current drivers. Then catch some of the best racing action around for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, 305 Sprints, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and vintage race cars. Whether you are a race fan or not you’ll want to stop out with admission prices rolled back to 1966 with $1.50 grandstand admission. Pit passes have also been rolled back to $15. Come join us for the Pepsi and B&B Propane Blast from the Past celebration capped off with fireworks display courtesy J and M Display. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., grandstand gates open at 4 p.m., hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing follows.

$1,000 to win IMCA Modified feature at 34 Raceway on The Fourth

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – Top prize for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds is $1,000 this Saturday, July 4 at 34 Raceway. Roberts Tire Center makes the payout possible. The holiday show is a qualifying event for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Also on the card for Young House Family Services Night are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, as well as 305 sprint cars, midgets and 4-cylinders. Fireworks follow the race program. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $7 for students and free for kids 10 and under. Pit passes are $25.

Davenport Speedway falls to rain

DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 26) – Track officials have canceled the weekly race program sched­uled tonight (Friday) at Davenport Speedway because of rain. Next Friday will bring the Fourth of July-Street Stock Clash and $2,000 awaits the winner of the 50-lap main event. All other classes will be in weekly points action. Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open next Friday at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:15 p.m. and racing at 6:45 p.m.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Rain and resulting flooding conditions have resulted in cancellation of the June 26 race program at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in Des Moines. The $3,000 to win Jim’s Johns Late Model Futurity is to be rescheduled.

Rockstar Energy out in full force at Sunset’s Fan Appreciation Night

Bakersfield hosts June 27 McGowan Memorial for IMCA Modifieds 

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Top prize is $1,000 when Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds square off at Bakersfield Speedway for the Saturday, June 27 Richie McGowan Memorial. A spot on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and all applicable IMCA points are at stake as well. Also on the card are Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, hobby stocks and American stocks. A fireworks extravaganza follows the action on the track. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. General admission is $18 for adults, $16 for seniors and military, $8 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Pit passes are $35 for members and $45 for non-members; there is no entry fee.

SportMod Blitz Wednesday, Thursday at Norman County

ADA, Minn. – Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for $675 to win and a minimum of $60 to start both nights of Norman County Raceway’s Wednesday and Thursday, June 24 and 25 SportMod Blitz. One hundred dollar hard charger, long tow and Performance Auto Tuff Luck awards will be given. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds run both draw/redraw shows both nights and Mach-1 Sport Compacts are on the Thursday card. All applicable points, including local track, will be given. Pit gates will be open all day, the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m., cutoff for the draw is 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Northern SportMod entry fee is $30 each night. Car and driver is $40 for Northern SportMods and $30 for all other divisions. Pit passes are $30. Grandstand admission is $18 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Tri-City reschedules Greased Pig

AUBURN, Mich. (June 12) – Two point five forced postponement of 5.0 tonight (Friday) at Tri-City Motor Speedway. Rainfall measured at 2.5 inches in the early morning hours left the track too wet for racing tonight. As a result, the $1,055 to win, 37-lap Greased Pig 5.0 special for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds will now be held June 19. The next carload night is Aug. 14.
