Second half of season starts Saturday at Perris

By Scott Dalaiso PERRIS, Calif. – For the second time in the month of June, the PASSCAR Stock Car Series, featuring IMCA Modifieds, will be at Perris Auto Speedway. The Saturday, June 30 show marks the start of the second half of the season for the cars at the famous Riverside County 1/2-mile clay oval. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. and the first race will be at 7 p.m. Cory Sample, who lives in Winnemucca, Nev., and makes the nearly 1,200-mile round trip to Southern California to race at Perris, has a 31-point lead in the IMCA Modified point standings. Sample, who picked up his second Perris win at the last race on June 2, has only finished out of the top three one time in the first seven races of the year.  That came in May when he finished 11th  after contact with another car. In the other six races he has two wins, a couple second place finishes and a pair of thirds. Chuck Becker is second in points with Terry Hershberger third.

Road to the Iron Cup round 2 set June 23 at Park Jefferson 

JEFFERSON, S.D. – A $1,000 to win Road to the Iron Cup feature event for IMCA Modifieds is on the Saturday, June 23 card at Park Jefferson Speedway. Jay Noteboom will also look to take the checkers and capture the second leg of the $25,000 Clean Sweep Sjogrensen Winery Bonus. Noteboom picked up the checkers in the first event held on May 26. The Modified feature is a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts complete the sanctioned portion of the program. Sixth annual Modified Stampede this Saturday at Dodge City

After getting pushed back by bad weather last month, the sixth annual Modified Stampede will hit the track at Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday night, May 19. In addition to a $750-to-win IMCA Modified feature, Saturday night’s action will also include a full card of championship chase action featuring the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks with racing action going green at 7:30 p.m. Woodward, Okla.’s Cole Traugott is the reigning Modified Stampede champion, racing to his se­cond consecutive event win last year ahead of defending track champion Clay Sellard and Randy Wil­son. While Traugott has a pair of Modified Stampede victories to his credit, other past event winners include David Murray (2015 and both nights in 2013) and Brendon Gemmill (2014). Dodge City opener set for Saturday night

The 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas gets the 2018 season under way in grand style with three must-see events over the course of the month of May. Farley, Dubuque set to go green this weekend

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa – The racing season is set to see the first green flags of 2018 at the popular North­east Iowa tracks under the direction of Farley Speedway Promotions. Farley Speedway, located on the southwest corner of Farley, Iowa, is set to entertain a full pro­gram of weekly racing that includes IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevro­let Northern SportMods on Friday, April 27 with hot laps taking to the 3/8 mile dirt track at 7 p.m. On Sunday, April 29, the Dubuque County Fairgrounds Speedway will open the 2018 campaign with sanctioned Modifieds and Northern SportMods on the card. Sunday’s start time has been moved up to 5 p.m. for the upcoming season. Willamette Speedway aims to open this Saturday

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. – After last weekend’s disappointing cancellation, Willamette Speedway will once again try to have it’s first racing event of 2018 on Saturday, April 21. While IMCA Modifieds return to the historic 1/3-mile venue, both the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are primed for their Willamette debuts. Pit gates open at 1 p.m. and the front gates open at 3:30. Racing is at 6 p.m. Officials ask that fans and race teams keep a close eye on the track website or Facebook page for weather and race day updates.

Sunset ignites the engines this Saturday

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – The 2018 racing season will officially start this Saturday, April 14 at Sunset Speedway Park. IMCA Modifieds will challenge at Banks Bullring for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region, Oregon State and track points. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the front gate opens at 4 p.m. Racing is at 6:30 p.m. Race Director Justin Thomas says there are only a couple of differences from last year but for the most part everything will remain the same. “Mike Watson will be back in the flagstand this year,” commented Thomas. “I will be up in the tower help running the RACEceivers. At practice we had a great turnout and the track was beautiful, which I think is a good sign for the season to come.” Tickets are $13 for adults and $10 for seniors, military and juniors ages 13-17. Willamette Speedway opener is April 14

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. – With one test and tune session under their belt, IMCA Modifieds will open the 2018 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season at Willamette Speedway this Satur­day, April 14. Pit gates open at 1 p.m. and the front gates open at 3:30 p.m. for the Cabin Fever lidlifter.
