Rain takes out Maquoketa, Donna Heister Memorial is next

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 11) – The weather was all that knew its way around Maquoketa Speedway Saturday.

Heavy rain Friday evening lasting into Saturday morning was all that was needed to call off action at the quick 3/8-mile dirt oval.

Action continues this Saturday with the fifth annual Donna Heister Memorial and racing in all regular classes, the Andover Meat IMCA Late Models, QCJeeps.com IMCA Modifieds, B&D Pit Stop IMCA Northern SportMods, Ueland Auto IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Hobby Stocks and Obie’s Bar and Restaurant/B&D Liquors 4 Cylinders.

“Again this year we will be selling raffle tickets for various items which will include a meat bundle, a new barbeque grill, a filled Yeti cooler, many other cash and gift certificate prizes,” Tom Heister said. “Any and all proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Hospice of Jackson County in memory of Donna.”

Tickets are on sale now at Obie’s, 3610 173rd Avenue in Maquoketa. You do not have to be present to win. The majority of the items are from local businesses and the proceeds will help families within Jackson County in their time of need, Hester said.

Maquoketa Speedway falls to weather, season opener postponed to April 27

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (April 23, 2024) – The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season opener at Maquoketa Speedway scheduled for Saturday, April 20 fell victim to wet grounds and cold temperatures. The 2024 season will now be set to get underway on Saturday, April 27. The racing program will include sanctioned races in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Late Model, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod divisions, along with INEX Legends and the 4-cylinder compact class. Hot laps take to the quarter-mile Maquoketa Speedway, located on the Jackson County Fairgrounds at 6 p.m. with hot laps and racing will follow this Saturday.

Soppe scores seventh at Maquoketa

Unlike the others, he did it in Hoker Trucking/C&W Trucking/Kam Koncepts Victory Circle after taking another 15-lap B&D Pit Stop IMCA Northern SportMod feature Saturday evening at Maquoketa Speedway. “Seemed like a top side track, but made the bottom stick and here we are,” Soppe said. “This is our 15th win of the year and each one seems different.” His seventh Maquoketa win came on Husco International Family Night before a great pre-fireworks display crowd. Soppe jetted from his ninth starting spot on the bottom groove and passed Jacob Ellithorpe on lap nine. Werner scores first Maquoketa IMCA Modified win

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (July 2, 2022) – Racing returned to the Jackson County Fairgrounds Maquoketa Speedway on Saturday following a week off due to a rainout. A great field of nearly 90 race teams packed the infield on a beautiful Saturday night for racing. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature headlined the night of racing action that saw the final checkered flag of the night wave at 9:05 p.m. The 20-lap feature went caution free and saw Geneseo, Ill., driver Matt Werner score his first win at the ¼-mile Maquoketa Speedway. The track was wide and smooth and very racy with drivers using several lines which provided great racing all night. Werner advanced from a third row start and took the lead from early pace setter Austin Blume and went on to score the win. Baca Dominates IMCA Modified Opener at Ernie Mincy Memorial Early Thaw

Casa Grande, ARIZONA (January 23, 2025) — Chaz Baca Jr. added another victory to his already amazing 2025 season, dominating the IMCA Modified main event on the opening night of the Ernie Mincy Memorial Early Thaw at Central Arizona Raceway. The two-time defending IMCA National champion and reigning Western Region, Arizona State, and Central Arizona Raceway titleholder led all twenty laps in a commanding performance. Baca, hailing from Mesa, seized the lead from the drop of the green flag and worked to build a comfortable margin. His efforts were briefly challenged as California racers Jerry Flippo and Troy Morris III gave chase. The race took an intense turn midway through as the leaders encountered heavy lapped traffic. Jet Racing celebrates 28 years of IMCA sponsorship

**BEATRICE, Neb. (January 22, 2025)** – Jet Racing celebrates its 28th year as an IMCA marketing partner and 14th as the title sponsor of the Central Region for Modifieds. Top 10 drivers in the official 2025 point standings for the region, which includes tracks in Arkansas, eastern Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska, will share a $6,000 point fund, with the champion earning $2,500.
