Super Nationals entries near 800; early registration deadline now Friday

VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 31) – With early entry numbers approaching an amazing 800, the pre-registration deadline for the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s has been extended to noon CST on Friday, Sept. 2. The 785 entries already in hand are 160 ahead of last year’s pace and include 256 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, 167 IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, 106 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, 163 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, 36 Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods, 49 Mach-1 Sport Compacts and eight IMCA Late Models. A record-tying 27 states as well as Canada, are already represented in the early sign-up numbers for the Sept. 5-10 Super Nationals at Boone Speedway. One-way radios required for all divisions at Boone

BOONE, Iowa – One-way radios will be mandatory for all drivers in all divisions competing at the Sept. 5-10 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Numerous one-way devices, such as the Nitro-Bee, are legal for use at Super Nationals; specific information on those devices and channels is to be announced. If they do not already own such a device, drivers will be able to purchase one on Manufacturers’ Row during the week.

Pacific Northwest pilot Braaten will test his Northern SportMod skills at Super Nationals

MEDFORD, Ore. – Jorddon Braaten got a pretty good idea how he measured up with Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod competition from across the country at last November’s Duel In The Desert. Next, he’ll test his mettle racing with the best of the best at Boone Speedway in September. Transponders are mandatory for all Modifieds, Stock races

BOONE, Iowa – Transponders are required again for all Modified and Stock Car competitors at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The electronic scoring devices will be used in all races for the two divisions Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 7-10. Drivers will be able to use their own MyLaps/ABM compatible transponder at Boone Speedway or rent one for $30 for the week. Transponders will be available in the pre-tech inspection tent and a driver’s license or credit card will be held for deposit. Transponders will also be required for the Thursday, Sept. 8 Deery Brothers Summer Series Late Model main event, qualifying and last-chance features on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods, and Saturday main events for SportMods and Hobby Stocks. The devices will be installed at no charge to those drivers. MyLaps remains the official timing and scoring system of IMCA and Super Nationals.

Three honorary starters assist with Saturday check presentation to Hope For The Warriors 

BOONE, Iowa – The three honorary starters for last-chance Modified features will also assist with the Saturday afternoon, Sept. 10 check presentation to Hope For the Warriors during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Ankeny-based Casey’s General Store, the presentation sponsor for Super Nationals, donates $10 for each heat race won by a Modified, Late Model, Stock Car, Hobby Stock, Northern SportMod, Southern SportMod or Sport Compact driver displaying a Casey’s decal between Sept. 5 and Sept. 9. IMCA will match that amount. Depending on the number of heat races held, Casey’s and IMCA officials will present a check for approximately $5,000 to Hope For The Warri­ors President and CEO Robin Kelleher in front of the flagstand during a break in the Saturday race program. Hanson looks to give back, and take home Late Model trophy from Super Nationals

CAPE CARTERET, N.C. – Travis Hanson waved the green flag at last year’s IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. He wants to take home a trophy from this year’s version of America’s Racin’ Vacation. The senior director of sports and recreation of Hope For The Warriors and a 22-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Hanson was one of three honorary starters for Modified last-chance features on the final day of the 2015 Super Nationals. Sample, Ward complete Fast Shafts All-Star field 

BOONE, Iowa – Cory Sample and A.J. Ward will complete the Friday, Sept. 9 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational starting field. Sample, from Winnemucca, Nev., has the highest national point total among Modified drivers on the All-Star ballot who have pre-registered for the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Ward makes the trip to Boone Speedway from Ionia, Mich. He’ll qualify by virtue of 21 40-point feature wins, a total that won’t be matched or surpassed by any other All-Star candidate before the start of Super Nationals. Sample made his first All-Star appearance in 2012 and finished seventh in the 2014 event. Ward’s All-Star start is his third in as many years. Casey’s wristbands can be redeemed for fountain drink

BOONE, Iowa – Both week-long and Saturday-only Casey’s General Store pit admission wristbands can be redeemed for a 32 ounce fountain drink on the way home from the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The offer is good at any participating Casey’s between Sept. 10-17. Casey’s is the official convenience store of IMCA and presenting sponsor of Super Nationals. Main event qualifiers in 6 divisions get replica door panels, hoods from Five1seven Designs 

BOONE, Iowa – As if the sense of accomplishment wasn’t enough, main event qualifiers in six divisions at the Sept. 5-10 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s will take home something extra for their efforts during the 34th annual event. Five1seven Designs will give replica door panels to Modified, Northern SportMod and Southern SportMod qualifiers. Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Sport Compact qualifiers all receive replica hoods. Five Super Nationals champions go home with new engines

BOONE, Iowa – Five of the champions crowned at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals will make the trip back home with new engines. The winner of the first-ever main event for Southern SportMods, on Monday, Sept. 5, opening night, earns a standard weekly race engine courtesy of Centex Motorsports. Centex also pays the Southern SportMod champion $25 per lap lead, which could be worth as much as $750. All four Saturday, Sept. 10 champions receive new powerplants courtesy of Karl Perfor­mance and Karl Chevrolet. After that race program is complete, the engines that powered Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod champions will be sold at a public auction in the infield at Boone Speedway.
