BOONE, Iowa – Cory Sample and A.J. Ward will complete the Friday, Sept. 9 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational starting field.
Sample, from Winnemucca, Nev., has the highest national point total among Modified drivers on the All-Star ballot who have pre-registered for the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
Ward makes the trip to Boone Speedway from Ionia, Mich. He’ll qualify by virtue of 21 40-point feature wins, a total that won’t be matched or surpassed by any other All-Star candidate before the start of Super Nationals.
Sample made his first All-Star appearance in 2012 and finished seventh in the 2014 event. Ward’s All-Star start is his third in as many years.
Thirteen states are now represented in the 13th annual invitational. The 30-lapper pays $1,000 to win and $200 to start.

The 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational is a qualifying event for the 2017 ballot.
