Super Nationals engine auction adds $15,300 to Saturday’s main event purse

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 12) – The public auction of Saturday champions’ motors added $15,300 to the purse for the final night main events at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The engine of Modified champion Kyle Strickler brought the top bid of $5,500 during the auction, conducted in the infield at Boone Speedway following the evening’s race program. The other 32 starters in the Modified main each receive an equal share of those proceeds, $171.88. Stock Car champion Dustin Larson’s motor sold for $5,400, Northern SportMod champion Clint Luellen’s for $2,300 and Hobby Stock champion Jason Wilkinson’s for $2,100. Each of the other 29 starters on the Stock Car main will receive an additional $186.21, each additional Northern SportMod starter $79.31 and each additional Hobby Stock starter $72.41. Checks have been mailed from the IMCA home office. As part of generous contingency awards packages, Strickler, Luellen and Wilkinson all receive crate engines from Karl Chevrolet. Larson gets a new power plant courtesy of Karl Performance.

Championship Saturday starts at Boone Speedway

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 12) – Championship Saturday is underway at Boone Speedway. The record-setting 33rd annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s comes to a close today, with the crowning of champions in the Hobby Stock, Northern SportMod, Stock Car and ultimately the Modified division. Race of champion events are also slated for those four classes. First on the docket, however, are a last-chance feature to fill the Stock Car grid and last-chance heats and features to add the final nine cars to the Modified field. Deal, Carter are first in Friday Modified qualifiers

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 11) – Nick Deal and Cayden Carter led geographically diverse groups of drivers in winning Friday night Modified qualifying features at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Deal topped the caution-free opener, leading start to finish and taking the checkers three lapped cars ahead of fellow front row starter Ryan McDaniel. Adam Larson was scored third all 25 circuits and Johnny Scott moved into the final transfer spot with six to go. Carter was the third and final different leader in the nightcap at Boone Speedway, running in front the last 15 laps. Ryan Ruter settled into second, 11th starting Jason Cummins was third and Drew Christianson completed the top four. Five different states are represented by the Friday qualifiers. Brothers Dustin, Jeffrey Larson score in Stock Car qualifiers

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 11) – A Larson will start on the front of the outside row in Saturday’s IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s main event. Which one remains to be determined. Brothers Dustin Larson and Jeffrey Larson both won their respective qualifying features Friday night at Boone Speedway. They’ll square off in what will no doubt be a spirited game of Rochambeau Saturday afternoon to decide which gets the front row spot. Dustin Larson started fifth and took the lead after a series of early mishaps, one of which involved multiple cars in front of the flagstand and took 2001 champion Brian Blessington out of the running and sent leader Dave Wickman to the back. John Heinz took over from that point, leading past midway before Dustin Larson drove by on lap 15. Joe Fory ran third much of the distance and Stefan Sybesma raced from the 30th starting spot to fourth. Jimmy Gustin completes Super Nationals triple crown quest

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 11) – Jimmy Gustin has filled that empty space in his IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s trophy case. Gustin led all 30 laps of Friday’s Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational at Boone Speedway. “This is awesome,” said Gustin, also the 2010 Super Nationals champion and 2007 and 2011 Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions winner. “This is the only race I hadn’t won at Boone and I really wanted to win it I can’t say how much this means to me.” The victory paid $1,000, plus another $750 in lap money. Gustin started seventh and shot to the front his first time around the oval. Car count record reaches 876 at Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 11) – One more Modified, one more Stock Car and 33 Late Models resulted in a new car count record for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. By the time the final checkered flag flew early this morning, an all-time record 876 cars had competed at America’s Racin’ Vacation, two more than the previous mark set in 2012. The additional Modified entered on Thursday at Boone Speedway nudged that division total to 278. The additional Stock Car put that class at 193 entries, two more than the previous best, which also dates from three years ago. The 33 Late Models were in town for the Deery Brothers Summer Series. Other division totals were 167 Northern SportMods, 141 Hobby Stocks and a record 64 Sport Compacts, up one from 2013.
