Bubak wires Belleville field for fourth URSS victory of season

(July 4) – Jake Bubak took the lead at the start and never looked back to claim the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing special in Independence Day at the Belleville High Banks Speedway.   J.D. Johnson and Bubak started on the front row for the 20-lap feature with Bubak quickly taking the lead as the green flag fell. Johnson, Ty Williams, Jake Martens and Zach Blurton were the top five after the first lap was complete.   Williams and Martens passed Johnson for second and third, respectively, on lap two as Bubak set sail on the rest of the field. Bubak cruises the distance to claim his series-leading fourth fea­ture victory of the season. His victory was worth $1000.  Williams was a strong second while Martens came home third. BAPS hosts co-sanctioned IMCA RaceSaver show this Saturday

By Frank Buhrman YORK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Sprint Series will be joined by the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Se­ries for co-sanctioned racing at BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven Saturday, July 6. Racing is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.  This will be the fifth PASS IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event at BAPS this season. Zach Newlin has won two of the previous four, with single wins for Cale Reigle and John Walp. This is the first of three co-sanctioned events at the track. Ken Duke currently leads PASS point standings, as well as national standings for the division, with Newlin in second. Doug Dodson, Reigle and Devin Adams round out the top five.  The Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series (MASS) races at tracks in eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Belleville, Mayetta events next for United Rebel Sprint Series

By David Smith Jr., OKTidbits OBERLIN, Kan. – A busy holiday weekend is just ahead as the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicks off Thursday night atop the Belleville High Banks Speedway in Belleville, Kan., before making lone 2019 appearance at Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta on Saturday night.  The Independence Day special will pay $1,000 to win with $200 for all drivers making the feature finale. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Racing is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start time. Adult general admission tickets are $18 with kids ages 10-17 $10. All children nine and younger will be admitted into the grandstands for free. A huge firework show follows the races on Thursday night. After taking Friday night off, the tour will then head east to Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta for a special “Clash on the Hill,” Saturday night edition of IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car racing. IMCA state point races heating up, $100 Eibach gift certificates go to 81 champions in six division

CORONA, Calif. – IMCA state point races, just like temperatures across much of the country, are really starting to heat up.  And Eibach Springs will make the efforts of 81 drivers who earn E3 Spark Plugs State Champion­ships pay off with $100 gift certificates. The Corona, Calif., introduced state championship awards for its 11th season of IMCA sponsor­ship. In addition, one randomly selected driver in each of those six divisions (IMCA Modified, IMCA Late Model, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod) receives a set of four springs. Leraas leads last laps for Virginia Sprint Series win

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (June 29) – Mike Leraas led the last five times around the Shenandoah Speed­way oval Saturday, becoming the eighth different winner in nine Virginia Sprint Series events this season. Chris Ware and Bill Rice paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green with Rice out first, leaving Ware to deal with Jerald Harris, Glenn Worrell and Leraas.  Rice was a lane up and staying smooth as Harris tried every way to get by. After a caution tight­ened the field, Rice took off again with Ware, Leraas and Worrell in pursuit. Rice was leading still but Leraas and Worrell were on the way. With five to go, Leraas swept low and into the lead. Worrell made it by for second but ran out of time to catch Leraas  Next it’s back for the annual trip to Langley Speedway in Hampton on Saturday July 6.  Feature results – 1. Mike Leraas; 2. Johnson collects Late Model win at Off Road Speedway

(June 29) – Jim Johnson raced to his second IMCA Late Model victory in as many nights, coming out ahead of a four-car battle for the lead at Off Road Speedway. Travis Dickes, Ben Sukup and Chris Johnson battled Johnson most of the race. Ultimately, Sukup was able to pass Dickes for second place with two laps remaining, but fell just short of catching Jim Johnson at the finish line. Also the Friday winner at Boone County Raceway, Johnson is hoping the two wins might be a turning point.  “It’s been a rough start, with a new car and new chassis. Winebarger ties Wild West Shootout record with fourth win of season

By Ben Deatherage  LEBANON, Ore. (June 28) – Collen Winebarger put his name in the Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout record book Friday night. Winebarger’s fourth series win of 2019 came at Willamette Speedway and matched the record set by Brian Poppa (2011) and first equaled by Kellen Chadwick (2016).  Pole starter Winebarger stayed out front and out of trouble from the get-go Friday despite five stoppages. He was pressured late by Jesse Williamson, who bicycled hard in the first set of turns and eventually Jesse pulled off the track. Chadwick, Justin Duty, Grey Ferrando and Matt Jenner made up the rest of the final five.  Lebanon saw the biggest car count of the week with 48 drivers assembled in the pits representing five states and British Columbia. Sellard rules IMCA Modifieds at Dodge City

(June 29) – Clay Sellard needed less than two laps to race into the lead from eighth and led the rest of the way in the 20-lapper for IMCA Modified to become the fifth different winner in as many races Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park. Sellard stretched his lead out to a full half-lap by the time a late caution flew to set up a four-lap dash to the stripe the Mid-Season Championship Night show.  Sellard took off once again to se­cure the victory ahead of Tom Beavers, who made his way past Kevin Gray at the midway point to post runner-up honors.  Beavers finished just ahead of his son Kale, with William Nusser and Gray rounding out the top five. Madden scores third Stuart win of season

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 26) – Corey Madden raced his way to victory lane at Stuart Speedway for the third time this season, topping Wednesday’s IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main event. Nick Foster and Chuck Madden Jr. were on the front row for the start and Madden Jr. led rookie Miciah Hidlebaugh and Foster over the first two laps, with Corey Madden getting to third on lap three.  Two more circuits saw Madden get to second as Madden Jr. continued to lead. By lap six, the brothers were side-by-side and Corey was able to get the advantage on lap eight. Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout cut short due to curfew

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – The track crew of Sunset Speedway Park battled the weather Wednesday, June night, but the curfew came before the scheduled Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout main event could be started.  The feature will be held at the end of the night at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon on Friday, June 28. There will be no racing tonight (Thursday) but Willamette Speedway will host a driver appreciation party, presented by FinishLine Graphics. Thirty-nine cars made the journey to Sunset Speedway Park, representing Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada and North Dakota as well as British Columbia  The starting lineup for Friday’s makeup event will be: Row 1, Collen Winebarger; Travis Peery.
