Late pass sparks Bolac in Virginia Sprint Series opener

By Jim Haines NATURAL BRIDGE, Va. (April 16, 2022) – Daren Bolac streaked by the race-long leader with a few laps to go for the Saturday night win in the 2022 season debut for the Virginia Sprint Series at Natural Bridge Speedway. The feature-only IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event had Mike Keeton and Bolac on the front row of the fast banked oval they went green with Keeton out first and Bolac in tow. After a couple of quick cautions it went back green with the front two unable to get away from the field as Jerald Harris, Joe Leavell and Chris Humblet stayed within striking distance. Laps clicked off as Leavel got by Harris. The top three were getting very close as lapped traffic was coming up. Nine new to Fast Shafts All-Star eligibility

VINTON, Iowa (April 18, 2022) – Their on-track efforts have earned Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility for another nine IMCA Modified drivers.  Tim Ward won both nights of the Southern Stampede at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, as well as the Frostbuster at Boone Speedway. Mark Adams was a weekly winner, also at Ardmore. Jeff Taylor, Rusty Jeffrey and Wendall Wallace all won Arkansas Spring Nationals features at Batesville Motor Speedway. Nebraska Dirt Crown winners were Jake McBirnie and Jesse Sobbing. Jeff James won at Beatrice Speedway’s Spring Nationals while Tom Berry was best at Stuart Speedway’s Frostbuster.  Drivers already eligible winning qualifying events included Chaz Baca, Jordan Grabouski, Austin Kiefer, Cody Laney, Clay Money and Dylan Thornton. Eleven added to B & B All-Star Invitational list

VINTON, Iowa (April 18, 2022) – Another 11 IMCA Sunoco Stock car drivers have earned B & B Racing Chassis All-Star qualifying eligibility. Blake Clark and William Gould were feature winners at Southern Oklahoma Speedway’s Southern Stampede while Jeffrey Abbey topped a pair of Arkansas Spring Nationals events at Batesville Motor Speedway. Jordan Grabouski and Kyle Vanover scored Spring Nationals victories at Beatrice Speedway and Benji Legg and Jesse Sobbing collected Nebraska Dirt crown checkers. Crown Challenge honors at Off Road Speedway went to Tyler Iverson while Casey Woken and Kyle Pfeifer earned Mike Hughes Sunflower Classic Memorial wins at RPM Speedway. Ice Breaker Challenge KO’d by cold weather

EAGLE, Neb. (April 14, 2022) – With forecasts calling for weather more appropriate for sled dog racing than race cars, Eagle Raceway has canceled the Ice Breaker Challenge scheduled April 15 and 16. Opening night at America’s Home Track is April 23, with Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods on the evening’s program. Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:15 p[.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. with racing at 6:30 p.m.  Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Pit Passes are $30. A1 Iron & Empire Fence sponsors the 2022 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing lidlifter.  Weekly race programs at Eagle will be broadcast on IMCA.TV produced by Advantage Racing.

Hahn, Oliva get April 9 victories at Southern Oklahoma

(April 9, 2022) – Southern Oklahoma Speedway had another great installment to its 2022 campaign with Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars on the Saturday night card.  In the Stock Car main, Blake James got the lead on the opening lap but got high out of turn four, allowing Marcus Hahn to get underneath him and hold down first place on lap one. The Ardmore had Todd Decker on his heels and chomping at the bit to get around him.   The lone stoppage of the main event was on lap nine and allowed Decker to crank up the heat on Hahn for the top spot.  Hahn successfully kept all challengers at bay for the checkers. Larry Bradley ended in second over Decker in third. IMCA King of the Highbanks postponed, Marshalltown to host Friday Season Preview

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 13, 2022) – Less than favorable weather forecasts have forced Karl Auto Group Marshalltown Speedway track officials to postpone the $5,000 to win King of the Highbanks special for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.  Practice was originally scheduled tonight (Wednesday) with King of the Highbanks programs Thursday and Friday.  While the practice and Thursday show are off, the April 15 program has been rebranded as the Friday Season Preview.  Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars both run for $1,000 to win along with Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility, respectively. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods both run for $400 top checks, IMCA STARS Mod Lites and Mach-1 Sport Compacts both for $250 to win.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded. Paul scores big win at Petaluma

By Ben Deatherage  PETALUMA, Calif. (April 9, 2022) – Michael Paul Jr., paced a healthy field of Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway. Raymond Lindeman had a fast hot rod from the drop of the first green flag before having to deal with restarts as three cautions happened in the first five circuits.  After the third restart, Lindeman received company in the likes of hometown driver Paul, who battled with the leader for several laps before capturing the top spot on the 13th lap. Paul had to deal with a pair of stoppages himself in the later stages of the feature, as he held on through a green, white, checkered finish to win ahead of Cody Burke and Jim Pettit II.  Racing in the Josh Combs-owned entry, Anthony Slaney placed fourth with fifth going to Lindeman.

Dotson, Johnson are best at Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (April 9, 2022) – Bakersfield Speedway fired the engines back up for another exciting installment of the 2022 season, with IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars on the Saturday night card.  Ethan Dotson stormed to P1 when racing got underway in the Modified main. The Bakersfield native, racing for car owner Troy Morris Jr., drove a flawless race despite four stoppages. Dotson was fantastic on restarts as Jerry Flippo brought a tad bit of heat in the last few laps.  Dotson kept calm, cool and collected to pick up the main event victory. Flippo held onto second with Cody Laney, piloting the Terry Henry-fielded entry, in third. In the Stock Car main, things started with a bang with a three-car fight for the lead. Tristao, DeArmond collect Tulare triumphs

(April 8, 2022) – Racing returned to Thunderbowl Raceway Friday night as the Tulare County Fairgrounds 1/3-mile clay oval hosted the Van De Pol IMCA Western RaceSaver Sprint Series and the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.   The main event of the Vande Pol Western RaceSaver Sprint Series began with hometown driver George Tristao Jr. getting the lead on the opening lap. He had a brief battle with Kyle Rasmussen. Rasmussen kept Tristao company but the leader kept him in check on every occasion.  Tristao developed a fantastic run as the race went incident-free and allowed him to construct a significant lead. Tristao went on to win the race to collect his first victory of the season with Rasmussen second and third going to Brandon Emmett.  Loren DeArmond had the car to beat in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event. He seized control of the front place position and remained there the entire distance. Frazier dominates at Ocean

By Ben Deatherage  WATSONVILLE, Calif. (April 8, 2022) – Markus Frazier was the IMCA Northern SportMod winner as Ocean Speedway hosted another great night of racing action on Friday. After two attempts to get a lap in the books, Igor Gandzuk jumped out to the early race lead. However, Gandzuk was overtaken on lap five by Frazier, who set a quick pace while dealing with several restarts. Despite the stop-and-go action, Frazier cruised about the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds ¼-mile oval to win his first race of 2022. Ocean Speedway now has three different winners in three shows in the current season. Jim DiGiovanni was second over Adriane Frost. Gandzuk rallied from an early race spin to place fourth while fifth was Charlie Hunter.
