Performance Bodies awards are new for 31st Harris Clash

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (July 26, 2022) – Four drivers with differing on-track luck at the Aug. 2 Harris Clash will take home $250 awards courtesy of Performance Bodies. Hard luck drivers in both Friesen Performance IMCA Modified and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main events receive $250, as do the leader on lap 15 of the Modified main feature and the leader on lap 13 of the Northern SportMod feature. “Registrations are up from this time last year,” notes Promoter Bob Harris. “Everything is going as planned, the long-range forecast looks good and we’re excited about racing at Deer Creek Speedway next Tuesday.” The 31st annual Harris Clash pays Modifieds $5,000 to win, plus Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility, a $500 bonus if their chassis manufacturer is part of the event manufacturers’ cup, and $100 from the TraLo Companies for every position they advance in taking the checkers. Munoz hustles from 20th to checkers at El Paso Co. IMCA Stock Car Showdown

CALHAN, Colo. (July 22, 2022) – He isn’t a fan of bullrings but Angel Munoz sure knows how to get around them in a hurry. Munoz started 20th and raced his way to the front of the Colorado IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Showdown field at El Paso County Raceway, earning $2,000 for the Friday night feature win at Calhan. “I’m not a big fan of bullrings but we do good at ‘em,” said Munoz, more partial to the big tracks of western Kansas. “I’d only raced here once before, in 2016, and we won $1,000 that night.” He’d won his heat but was disqualified when post-race tech found the right rear shock measurement off by a quarter of an inch. “I’d changed a spring right before the heat and didn’t compensate. Kinzley is king at Dacotah Speedway

By Becca Pelkey MANDAN, N.D. (July 22, 2022) – After everything fell into place, Quentin Kinzley parked his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified in Dacotah Speedway’s victory lane. The Friday night feature win was his first at Mandan since June of 2020. “2021 was a good year but it seemed like we were always the bridesmaid. We were close so many times,” said the uber consistent Kinzley, who counted four runner-up finishes among 10 top five outings at Dacotah Speedway last season. “It felt good to win. Everything fell into place.” Pole sitter Chris Barros set the pace in the feature but it was rookie Logan Schmitz who led from the green flag. Schmitz pulled away quickly as Barros tried to stay with him. Barros slowly started to fade through the field, losing positions to Spencer Wilson, Kinzley and Marlyn Seidler. Foulger, Mallet are IMCA winners at Antioch

(July 23, 2022) – Troy Foulger won the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event while Jacob Mallet Jr. won for the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Buddy Kniss raced into the early Modified lead ahead of Bobby Motts Jr. and Aaron Crowell. An inside pass gained Crowell second on lap five with Foulger following into third. They ran that way until a high pass in turn two on lap 13 put Foulger into second. Foulger went outside Kniss in turn four on Lap 15 to take the lead. Foulger went onto victory from there, followed by Kniss, Crowell, Nick DeCarlo and Kellen Chadwick Mallet’s checkers were his first this season at Antioch. He took the early lead ahead of Nick Caughnan Jr. while Fred Ryland moved into third by the seventh lap. After a lap 13 yellow, Ryland trailed Mallet on the restart. Bloom takes care of business at Cottage Grove

(July 23, 2022) – Dalton Bloom took care of business Saturday night in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature as the Lebanon driver accrued his second win of the season at Cottage Grove Speedway this season. Kevin Williamson beat David Schmidt for second. Hunter Bloom and Daniel Ray were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the finishing order. Scarlett Drake was the winner of the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature. It is the second win of the campaign for the Salem racer. Dusten Henderson hit the line second with third going to Burnie Bryant. Eli Miller ended the weekend fourth with Chris Pierce grabbing fifth.

Nezworski nabs IMCA Late Model checkers at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (July 24, 2022) – Andy Nezworski made the most of the lone appearance for the IMCA Sunoco Late Models this season at Benton County Speedway. The southeast Iowa racer ran down race-long leader Dalton Simonsen and stole the lead with two laps remaining to take the thrilling win on the quarter-mile. From his pole position start, Simonsen rocketed into the lead and quickly pulled way from the pack while Nezworski battled Bobby Hansen over numerous laps for second. Just shy of the midway point of the 20-lapper, Nezworski slipped past Hansen, but was running 2.2 second behind Simonsen by the time he made his way into the runner-up spot. Nezworski spent the next 10 laps cutting into the deficit and was able to draw even as lapped traffic slowed the leader. He slipped past Simonsen as the flying green waved to sail to victory. Hunter Bloom wins Ralph Bloom Memorial at Cottage Grove

It also was the Ralph Bloom Memorial for the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, one of the biggest nights of the whole year for the division. When all the dust had settled, Hunter Bloom parked his mount in victory lane and won his first race of the season. The victory also kept the trophy in the Bloom family name. Points beat Matt Sanders for second. Justin Ryker posted a fourth-place result over fifth-finishing Daniel Ray. For the third time in the year, Paul Rea emerged victorious in Friesen Performance IMCA Modified competition. The Eugene native collected his first win since April 23. Jake Mayden got second while in third was Curtis Towns in the Frank Brewer-fielded car. Steven Sturdevant ended his night fourth while Hornbrook, Calif., traveler Duane Orsburn completed the top five.

Aikey gets job done in IMCA Modified feature at Fayette County Speedway Rage Chassis 40

By Zakary Kriener WEST UNION, Iowa (July 20, 2022) – The Rage Chassis 40 did not disappoint Tuesday night as Fayette County Speedway hosted the $2,000 to win fair special for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. At the end of the 40-lap feature race, it was legend Jeff Aikey who parked his no. 77 hot rod in victory lane. Aikey wasted little time finding his way to the front after starting third on the grid. After a few cautions in the opening laps, Aikey got past early leader Chris Snyder and was able to maintain a good distance over eventual runner-up and defending IMCA national champion Jeff Larson throughout the rest of the caution-free race. “I started my racing career right here 42 years ago,” said an ecstatic Aikey in his post-race interview. “I may be 60 years old, but giving up racing is not something that I have in my future plans.” Aikey was already eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. VINTON, Iowa (July 18, 2022) – Another 16 Friesen Performance Modified drivers have won feature events paying $1,000 or more in the past month, earning Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility along with those checkers. Eric Mass and Eddie Kirchoff were Gunslinger Tour winners and Dalton Magers topped Murray County Speedway’s Anderson/Muecke Memorial.
