Added money for SportMods Saturday at DCRP

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – The United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds will have a little extra incentive to reach the front during Saturday’s Pack the Stands night at Dodge City Raceway Park as extra money has been added to their purse for the Aug. 31 event. Saturday’s card, which offers free admission to Dodge City residents, also includes the track’s other championship chase divisions of IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Thunder Cars and Hornets with racing action going green at 7:30 p.m. An extra $500 has been added to the United Wireless IMCA SportMod purse on Saturday night by an anonymous donor. Two hundred of the added $500 will go to the feature winner to bring the victor’s total take to $500. One hundred dollars has been added to both second and third place with 50 dollars added to both fourth and fifth, bringing the total payout for second through fifth to $325, $275, $200 and $175, respectively. Inaugural Karl Crate Clash adds 10th engine to prize package at upcoming Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – A 10th engine has been added to the awards package at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The Modified winner of the inaugural Karl Crate Clash on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Boone Speedway gets a 604 crate engine. The 12 drivers starting the winner take-all race will be randomly selected from those filling out and returning a sign-up form, to be included in their registration packet, to the Karl Chevrolet booth on Manufacturers’ Row. Drivers have from Monday, Sept. 2 until noon on Thursday to return those forms. Twelve names will be drawn and the starting field announced during the drivers’ meeting Thursday afternoon. Three features for IMCA Modifieds at Gillette’s East-West Clash

GILLETTE, Wyo. – Three feature events for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds are on the card for Gillette Thunder Speedway’s 14th annual East-West Clash Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30-Sept. 1. The opening night feature pays $600 to win. Saturday and Sunday races pay $1,000 to win, a minimum of $100 to start and are 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded all three nights. Pit gates open at noon and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. all three nights. Traveling drivers can hotlap from 6:45 p.m.-7:15 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Entry fees are $50 on Friday, $65 on Saturday and $75 on Sunday. Heart O’ Texas Speedway to host Southern SportMod Nationals Sept. 6-7

WACO, Texas – The winner’s share of the purse is $3,000 when Heart O’ Texas Speedway hosts the Southern SportMod Nationals set for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7. The feature for IMCA Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods pays a minimum of $200 to start. Non-qualifiers get $150. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Entry fee is $50. All Southern SportMod drivers who have won a sanctioned feature this season are eligible to qualify for Saturday’s 12-car All-Star field. That race pays $350 to win and a minimum of $50 to start. Ocean’s IMCA Pettit Shootout pays $15,003 to win

WATSONVILLE, Calif. – The biggest IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified payday of the season will come at Ocean Speedway’s third annual Pat Pettit Memorial Shootout Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21. The winner earns a hefty $15,003. The runner-up earns $5,003, while third place is worth $2,003, fourth place pays $1,203 and fifth nets $1,103. A minimum of $503 will be paid to start the 22-car, 50-lap event. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. 2013 IMCA point season ends on Sept. 29

VINTON, Iowa – The 2013 weekly point season for eight IMCA divisions ends on Sunday, Sept. 29. Final races are scheduled for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified, IMCA Sprint Car, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod and Mach-1 Sport Compact classes, as well as West Coast Super Stocks. Bonus points for track championships will be figured and national champions and rookies of the year announced as soon as possible. Regional champions and rookies of the year will also be named for the Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks. State champions will be crowned in all divisions. Final point races for IMCA Late Models were Aug. 25. IMCA’s national awards banquet will be Saturday, Nov. 30 in Lincoln, Neb.

20 already on ballot for 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational

VINTON, Iowa – While attention is currently focused on the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, 20 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified drivers have already raced their way onto the ballot for the 2014 event. Ricky Alvarado owns a pair of qualifying wins on the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour. Winners of the highest paying events thus far were Benji LaCrosse in the Night of 10,000 Stars and Kyle Strickler at the Night of 1,000 Stars. David Murray Jr. took the checkers on night two of the Stampede special at Dodge City Raceway Park. Mark Carrell became vote eligible by winning the Dancin’ Bare Topless 100 at Sunset Speedway. Governor’s Cup honors at Dacotah Speedway went to Robert Hellebust. Jeremy Shank topped the Northwest Modified Nationals at Grays Harbor Raceway. Dodge City residents get in free this Saturday at DCRP

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – Following on the heels of this past weekend’s Inaugural Freedom Tour non-wing Sprint Car double, action continues with this Saturday’s championship chase action at Dodge City Raceway Park featuring all five of the track’s regular classes. And it’s time to pack the track’s spacious grandstands, as all residents of Dodge City who can provide proof of residence receive free admission to the Aug. 31 racing action that gets under way at 7:30 p.m. Saturday’s tilt will include the headliner IMCA Xtreme Motor SportMods along with IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Thunder Cars on the 3/8-mile clay oval with the Hornets on the inner asphalt oval. Deery Series headlines opening night at Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 27) – The winner of the next Deery Brothers Summer Series event will also be the first champion crowned at the 2013 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The IMCA Late Model tour headlines the opening night program at Boone Speedway on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2. The feature pays $3,000 to win, plus a bonus of $30 for each of as many as 50 sanctioned starts made during the weekly point season, and a minimum of $300 to start. All regular tour procedures will be followed at Super Nationals: Twenty-four cars will start the feature and take the initial green flag two-wide.
