Goedert tops Late Models at Dubuque

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (June 19) –The headliner of the Sunday night Fathers’ Day show at Dubuque Speedway was the 25-lap Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model feature. Luke Goedert advanced from a second row start to take the lead early. While Goedert worked low, Dan Shelliam was riding the high side to pull even. Shelliam took over the point and led for five laps before getting too high in turn two scraping the wall. Goedert went on to lead the rest of the feature for the win while Shelliam recovered to finish second. Bobby Hansen crossed under the checkers in third. The Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modifieds delighted the fans with plenty of wheel to wheel racing in their 20-lap feature. Berry holds off Baumann at Billings

By Dru Brown BILLINGS, Mont. (June 18) – Hank Berry started fast and finished smooth as silk in winning Saturday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature at Billings Motorsports Park. Right from the drop of the green flag, Berry seized the top spot and ran away. Deep in the pack Kenny Baumann was man handling his car through traffic but it appeared like he was running out of laps to track down Berry. Baumann made his way all the way to second and seemed to be the only driver to hang with Berry. Just before the frontrunners took the white flag the yellow waved and a smile had to have crept across Baumann’s face because he knew this was the shot he needed. Berry took the cars to the start/finish line and Baumann drove his Modified in there as hard as he could and made it stick, but Berry maintained the lead out of turn two. Ward captures Greased Pig 6.0 for seventh win at Tri-City

AUBURN, Mich. (June 17) – Tri-City Speedway’s Greased Pig 6.0 ended with A.J. Ward in victory lane 7.0. Ward won for the seventh time in as many Auburn starts this season Friday night, collecting $1,066 following the Lane Automotive/Optima Batteries IMCA Modified Challenge presented by Allstar Performance 38-lapper. A season-high 32 Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modified drivers were on hand. Brody Bowser and Tanner Pray brought the main event field of 20 to the green flag of the extended lap feature. The two swapped the lead numerous times during the opening laps before Craig Vance took his turn as the leader. On lap five, Austin Wonch wrestled the lead away and tried to run away from the pack. Chadwick clinches Wild West Shoot Out with fourth IMCA Modified win of tour

By Ben Deatherage ELMA, Washington (June 18) – Kellen Chadwick clinched thechampionship of the Wild West Modified Shoot Out with his fourth feature win of the six-race Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified tour Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway. Forty cars from Oregon, Washington, California, Montana, North Dakota, and Colorado made the journey as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia. Danny Lauer took the lead from Collen Winebarger on lap two. From there he would be the car to beat as he was in search of his first career Wild West Shoot Out victory. Unfortunately, Lauer broke on lap 25. The driver everyone had been chasing all week long inherited the top spot. Kellen Chadwick blazed the trail the remainder of the distance and survive to pull off an incredible fourth win in the tour’s six main event starts. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods have potential $4,000 payday Tuesday at Britt

BRITT, Iowa – One of the top-paying events of the season could send the winner of Hancock County Speedway’s Tuesday, June 21 MaxYield Seed Northern SportMod Nationals home with as much as $4,000. The main event for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods pays a minimum of $2,500 to win. Five hundred dollar bonuses will be paid if that driver has raced at least six times this season, has perfect attendance and has won a regular season feature at Britt this season. Payout has been increased throughout the field with the runner-up earning $1,200 and the third-place finisher $1,000. The winner receives a six-foot-tall trophy and minimum of $200 will be paid to start the 24-car feature. Top two finishers from each heat advance to the $200 to win 10-lap DeKalb/Asgrow Dash to determine the starting lineup for the 30-lap feature. Emerson, Marolf score wins on busy Legends Night at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (June 17) – Farley Speedway honored the legends of local dirt track racing as more than 200 former drivers, family and friends gathered in the Palace Ballroom prior to the evening’s racing program. The first race of the night was the running of the Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model feature that was rained out a week earlier. The 25-lapper belonged to Johnny Emerson as he motored to an impressive win. Jeremiah Hurst ran second ahead of Tyler Bruening. In the regularly scheduled race program, the Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models brought the night to a close with a 25-lap main event run caution free in seven minutes. Nick Marolf shot to the front and rode the high side of the slick track to an impressive win. Hurst scored another second place finish ahead of Tyler Droste. Zemo scores IMCA Late Model win at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 17) – Mike Zemo Jr. needed to be both lucky and good to win at Davenport Speedway on Friday night. Zemo started the Petersen Plumbing and Heating IMCA Late Model feature in the third position, but did not see the lead until a lap 10 restart. Three laps later, the yellow flew again. On the ensuing restart, Brunson Behning took over the lead. Behning looked to be in control of the race until he pulled off the track on lap 22. Zemo again took the lead but had one more issue to deal with … Chuck Hanna. On the final corner of the final lap, Hanna tried to dive under Zemo, but could not make the move stick. Riedner races to $1,099 checkers at Luxemburg’s Soukup Memorial

He loved the trip so much he went home $1,099 richer courtesy of his 30-lap Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod John Soukup Memorial feature win. Todd Wiese came into night as the defending race winner defending the home turf. Riedner came in as the visitor trying to steal the show and did just that. Wiese led from the drop of the green flag and through a series of early cautions which allowed Riedner to join the race for the win. Riedner showed his racer on lap 20 and made what proved to be winning move on lap 23. Riedner flew past down low and into the lead. Wiese gave chase up on top and actually gained on the leader only to bobble with a couple laps remaining. Chadwick wins round six of Wild West Modified Shoot Out

(June 17) – Round six of the Wild West Modified Shoot Out at Sunset Speedway Park resulted in Kellen Chadwick’s third win of the Pacific Northwest Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified Tour. Chadwick outran fellow front row starter and 2012 race winner Ken Schrader for the 35-lap victory. Schrader was making his sole appearance on this year’s tour. The tight ¼-mile bullring in Banks is the smallest track of the 2016 tour and provided stellar action all night long. Forty-six cars made the journey, representing the states of Oregon, Washington, California, North Dakota, Montana, Colorado and Missouri as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia. Chadwick went right to work on the initial start, establishing a straightaway lead over Schrader in a matter of a few laps. DANIELSON, Conn. – The most frequent visitors to victory lane in four IMCA divisions will be on the receiving end of product certificate awards from Magnus Racing Products. The Danielson, Conn., manufacturer and second-year marketing partner gives certificates valued at $200, $100 and $50 to IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod drivers with the top three 40-point feature win totals.
