Yankee twinbill a guaranteed Deery Series classic

FARLEY, Iowa – A weekend doubleheader for the Deery Brothers Summer Series is guaranteed to be a classic when Farley Speedway hosts Sept. 2 and 3 features for touring IMCA Late Models. Friday’s 50-lap Yankee Dirt Track Classic main event at Farley pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. The Saturday show sports the biggest payday of the 30th annual tour. The winner of the 100-lap main event goes home with $7,500, while qualifying for the feature is good for a minimum of $500. Consistency throughout the series’ first 12 events has put Tyler Bruening on top of the Deery standings, four points ahead of seven-time tour champion Jeff Aikey. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. Abelson, Neal top to win $1,000 features at Shelby County’s Tiny Lund Memorial

HARLAN, Iowa (Aug. 27) – Chris Abelson added to his collection of Tiny Lund Memorial trophies while Jake Neal started his Saturday at Shelby County Speedway. Both were $1,000 feature winners, Abelson in a 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying feature for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and the rookie Neal in the IMCA Late Model headliner. Abelson passed Shane DeMey for the lead following a restart just after midway in the Modified 20-lapper. He’d started seventh and was about a car length off the pace when the caution flew. Justin Zeitner challenged but couldn’t catch Abelson following restarts later in the contest. DeMey, Brad Bergren and Craig Reetz completed the top five. Abelson is a three-time Tiny Lund winner in the Modifieds and also topped the 2006 feature for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Deeke, Maas among winners at Eagle

(Aug. 27) – Championship Night at Eagle Raceway saw five-year class veteran Dana Deeke win his first local NAPA IMCA Northern SportMod main event. “The track tonight, with the corrections we made, had me very good tonight,” he said. “It was nice and smooth. I really enjoy racing here. The competition is always great.” R.J. Maas was also a first-time winner at Eagle, in the Mountain Dew Kick Start IMCA Sport Compacts. “Finally! We had a good track tonight, nice and tacky,” the outside row four starter said. “It was amazing. I started moving up, then when I got to third I started to reel in the 11H (Nick Morris). When he dropped out I started checking the scoreboard to see how many laps were left.” Dustin Andersen topped another Kaplan University IMCA Modified feature. Jason Martin started 12th and finished first in the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car feature. Chad Fegley was first across the stripe in the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock main event.

Voss Memorial win worth $1,000 to Zevenbergen

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 27) – Elijah Zevenbergen led from start to finish to pick up the $1,000 winner’s check at Arlington Raceway’s Joe Voss Memorial for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Saturday night. Zevenbergen had strong challenges, first from Chad Schroeder and then from Derek Green. Green suffered a flat tire and went into the work area on the red flag that waved after Adam Revier got too high on the backstretch, went over the cushion lost control barrel rolled several times down the track. Revier was OK but his car was damaged. After that restart, the race was all Zevenbergen. Matt Speckman worked behind him but had to settle for second ahead of Dean Cornelius. Green made his way back up to fourth. Wisconsin traveler Shawn Wagner finished fifth, earning the hard charger bonus plus a new front bumper by passing 12 cars. BOONE, Iowa – Both week-long and Saturday-only Casey’s General Store pit admission wristbands can be redeemed for a 32 ounce fountain drink on the way home from the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The offer is good at any participating Casey’s between Sept. 10-17. Casey’s is the official convenience store of IMCA and presenting sponsor of Super Nationals. Main event qualifiers in 6 divisions get replica door panels, hoods from Five1seven Designs

BOONE, Iowa – As if the sense of accomplishment wasn’t enough, main event qualifiers in six divisions at the Sept. 5-10 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s will take home something extra for their efforts during the 34th annual event. Five Super Nationals champions go home with new engines

BOONE, Iowa – Five of the champions crowned at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals will make the trip back home with new engines. The winner of the first-ever main event for Southern SportMods, on Monday, Sept. 5, opening night, earns a standard weekly race engine courtesy of Centex Motorsports. Centex also pays the Southern SportMod champion $25 per lap lead, which could be worth as much as $750. All four Saturday, Sept. 10 champions receive new powerplants courtesy of Karl Performance and Karl Chevrolet. After that race program is complete, the engines that powered Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod champions will be sold at a public auction in the infield at Boone Speedway. Modified, Northern SportMod or Hobby Stock champions who win titles with crate motors receive a new GM 604 or 602 crate from Karl Chevrolet. Prelude to the Super Nationals plays out Saturday at Boone

BOONE, Iowa – A preview to the greatest show on dirt is this Saturday at Boone Speedway. The Sept. 3 Wild Rose Casino Resort Prelude to the Super Nationals will feature a total car count second only to the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s itself. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win in their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks complete the card. Drivers are required to pre-register for Super Nationals in order to be eligible to compete in the draw/redraw show. Eckrich tops season championship night feature at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (Aug. 26) – Casey’s General Stores presented the season championship races Friday at the Farley Speedway with Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models headlining the night’s racing action. The feature was red flagged following an incident in turn two that saw the cars of Ben Seemann and Becky Roth tip over. Seemann rode out a double flip while Roth came to rest on the side with all four wheels off the ground. Both drivers were OK. When the race took the green on the restart, the race went caution-free to the checkered flag. Andy Eckrich took over the top spot from Kip Siems as the race closed in on the 10-lap mark. Eckrich went on to record the win with Ryan Dolan and Jeff Aikey taking second and third. Eckrich stated in victory lane, “We came up here tonight to try some changes for the Yankee. Familiar faces in winner’s circle at RPM Speedway

By Mike Hughes HAYS, Kan. (Aug. 27) – It was all familiar faces in the winner’s circle at RPM Speedway Saturday evening. In the Gib’s Auto Supply IMCA Modified feature, Jimmy Reeves jumped out to the early lead in the 20-lap event but gave way to Jesse Richter on lap three. Richter and Reeves were back and forth up front as Corey Lagroon made up ground at the top of the track and took the lead on lap 14. Clay Money dove under Lagroon in turn four coming to the white flag and held on for his second RPM Speedway win this year in the caution-free race. Kyle Rohleder finished third behind Lagroon. The 20-lap Advantage Glass Plus IMCA Stock Car feature got off to a rough start as there was an eight car tangle on the opening lap, eliminating four cars.
