James takes Modified checkers at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 19) – The race was for second once Jeff James got to the front of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified field at Stuart Speedway. Bob Daniels and Todd Cooney brought the Modifieds to the initial green with Cooney taking the early lead over Daniels and James. James moved to second on lap three and set his sights on the lead as Cooney continued to show the way. James slowly chewed away at Cooney’s lead and on lap 10 took over at the front. From there the race was for second as James went on to win. Jake Murray was second with Josh Gilman third, Cooney fourth and Todd VanEaton fifth. Josh Daniels held the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car lead until Marcus Fagan shot by on lap eight. Daniels worked to find a faster groove, but it was not to be as Fagan went on to the win. Eckrich scores first win of season at West Liberty

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (June 18) – West Liberty Raceway held a full program of IMCA Weekly Racing on Saturday night on a beautiful night for racing. The IMCA iWireless IMCA Late Model 25-lapper saw 44-year racing veteran Ron Boyse take off from the front row and lead the race until lap 18 when Andy Eckrich put his no. 56 into the lead for good. Eckrich stretched out the lead in taking a comfortable win over Boyse and Kyle Hinrichs. The Performance Concepts IMCA Modifieds continue to provide the fans with very exciting racing. Lunow headlines Saturday winners at Dodge City Raceway Park

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 18, 2016) – Mike Lunow denied a late challenge from Clay Sellard for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified honors Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park. Lunow raced into the lead on the eighth round and then survived a late caution that gave Clay Sellard a shot at making it two wins in a row in the 20-lapper. After starting eighth, Lunow needed just two laps to work his way up to third and then took second from Kale Beavers by the fifth round. Three laps later, Lunow battled past Tracy Link for the point and checked out on the field. In Lunow’s wake, Sellard battled through the field and took second away from Link with a handful of laps to go but hardly had Lunow in sight a full straightaway in the distance. Dahl, Huettl, Wolla are 1-2-3 at Dacotah

MANDAN, N.D. (June 17) – Inches made the difference between the top three places Friday at Dacotah Speedway, as Mark Dahl got the best of Jordan Huettl and Jason Wolla in the evening’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature. Huettl went from fourth starting to first early in the main event, before a series of cautions slowed the pace. Following the restart on lap eight, Dahl passed Wolla for third and then caught Shawn Strand for second. Strand fell into the clutches of Wolla and Spencer Wilson. They raced three-wide for third until Wolla shuffled into third. With 10 laps to go, Huettl’s lead started to diminish as he started catching lapped traffic. Dahl was all over Huettl’s rear bumper but lapped traffic made it difficult to pass. Wolla quickly caught the leaders and made it a three-car battle. Ken McCarty notched IMCA SportMod victory number three in as many weeks, with Dennis Slader in second and Caden Ellis third.

Three repeat winners Hancock County Speedway

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (June 18) – Three drivers were repeat visitors to victory lane Saturday at Hancock County Speedway. Josh Ruby won his second straight Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature, and third of the season at Britt, by coming from the inside of the third row. Jesse Hoeft was the runner-up with Cody Knecht third. David Smith took his second local IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win of the summer at the Hancock County Speedway, coming from the outside of row three. Derek Green was second with Chad Palmer third. Josh Appel captured his first career feature win in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division after taking the green flag inside the third row. Nick Meyer was second followed by Josh Mattick. Drew Barglof also came from the inside the third row to take the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature with Cody Nielsen second. Tony Smidt ended up third. Oliver Monson won the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature for the third straight week.

Christians is quickest in all star-filled field at Shawano Stock Car Shootout

(June 18) – Jeremy Christians bested an all-star field that included three former national champions, two Super National winners and numerous track champions to take home the $1,000 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car check Saturday at Shawano Speedway. Christians, the 2010 champion at Super Nationals, held Brandon Czarapata at bay to win the Stock Car Shootout. Joe White, Travis Van Straten and Kyle Frederick rounded out the top five. White grabbed the lead on the opening lap and quickly received pressure from defending national champion Van Straten, while Frederick raced past Christians and into third by lap four. The battle between White and Van Straten allowed Frederick to catch the lead duo. On lap eight, Van Straten lost the handle in the middle of turns three and four but instead of stopping and bringing out a caution he stayed on the throttle and kept going. Last lap pass lands Linkenhoker in Virginia Sprint Series victory lane

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (June 18) – Shenandoah Speedway has seen many great last-lap passes for the win as the wide track lends itself to multi-groove racing. Anthony Linkenhoker put his name on the list of drivers to win this same fashion in Saturday’s Virginia Sprint Series main event. Tony Harris and Bill Rice paced the field to green with Rice up high and leading the field with Harris running low. On lap 10, Harris made his move and was in the top spot as Rice with beginning to fade. Linkenhoker moved to second at halfway and the fight was really on. Harris was working his tires hard to stay up front as Linkenhoker kept sticking a nose in there three or four times as he tried high and low to get by, and with the white flag waving they were nose to tail again. Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational voting returns to familiar format

BOONE, Iowa – A familiar format will be back in place when race fans use social media to elect 28 of the 30 starting drivers in the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Two drivers from each of the five regions for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified regions will be voted onto the starting grid in balloting that runs from Monday, July 25 through Friday, July 29. Eighteen more starters will be elected at large between Monday, Aug. 1 and Friday, Aug. 5. Completing the Friday, Sept. 9 All-Star field at Boone Speedway will be candidates with the highest national point total and the most 40-point feature wins competing at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The same All-Star voting format was used as recently as 2014. Winners will be notified and their names announced as soon as possible after each round of voting. Winters Performance backs IMCA Modified drivers

YORK, Pa. – Winters Performance Products has renewed the awards program benefitting Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified drivers for a second season. The York, Pa., manufacturer again gives a complete quick change rear end to the national rookie of the year. Top five drivers in point standings for each of the five Modified regions receive $100 product certificates. All awards will be presented during the national banquet in November or mailed beginning the following week from the IMCA home office. Rob VanMil earned national rookie of the year honors last season and more than 50 drivers are already in the running for this year’s title.
