Hard chargers win features at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 1) – Four hard chargers earned feature wins to highlight a big night of dirt track racing at Kossuth County Speedway on Thursday. Pole sitter Clay Money took the lead early in the IMCA Modified main. Tad Reutzel and Tim Ward both came calling on Money for the lead at halfway but two laps later, Reutzel exited with car troubles and Kelly Shryock joined the battle for the lead. Shyrock gradually reeled in Money and took the lead with two laps to go before going onto the victory. Tenth starting Curt Lund weaved his way through the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field and finally grabbed the top spot with two laps to go and went on to the win. Anderson stays perfect at Osky

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (May 31) – Shannon Anderson remained perfect by picking up the KBOE Radio/Mahaska Bottling IMCA Hobby Stock feature during a fast-paced night of racing Wednesday at Southern Iowa Speedway. Anderson started eighth and quickly worked his way through the field, getting to the front on lap six. He built up a big lead that was erased by a lap 11 caution, but held on to get the victory ahead of Aaron Martin, Chanse Hollatz, Bill Bonnett and Thomas Stevens. Hobby Stocks see extra an $300 available to grab because of a bounty placed on Anderson next week, thanks to Edel Lawn Care, Cindy Drost and Independent Auto. Cayden Carter and Curtis VanDerWal repeated wins from last week in the Musco Lighting IMCA Modified and Oskaloosa True Value IMCA Northern SportMod divisions, respectively. Tiger doubles awards for IMCA drivers in 2017

MOUNT ULLA, N.C. – Tiger Rear Ends doubles the dollar amount of awards to be given to IMCA drivers this season, with $5,000 in product certificates designated for Modified and Late Model competitors. Top five finishers in national standings for both divisions, and in point standings for the Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models and the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour for Modifieds all receive $250 certificates from the Mount Ulla, N.C., aftermarket rear end manufacturer. Tiger had given national Late Model and Deery awards in its first three years as an IMCA sponsor. Certificates will be presented during the national IMCA awards banquet in November or mailed beginning the following week from the home office, and can be redeemed directly through Tiger. Schwartz is number one at 81

(May 28) – Todd Schwartz wasted little time getting to the lead Sunday night at 81 Speedway, then held off Joe Wood Jr. on the final lap to capture his first career Sprint Series of Oklahoma victory and $1,000 during the Sprint Car Maynia show at Park City. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event, co-sanctioned by the United Rebel Sprint Series, saw Jake Martens, Steven Richardson and Ty Williams complete the top five. Thirty-four cars vied for starting spots on the main event grid. Schwartz started third and took the lead as the green flag fell. Wood was five car lengths behind in second midway through the 20-lapper. Andy Shouse and Brandon Long, who were running third and fourth respectively, made contact coming out of turn two on 13, causing Long to execute a series of flips down the backstretch. Bounty on Munoz amps up Dodge City Stock Car Spectacular

Now it will likely be beyond “Spectacular” with a price put upon the head of Angel Munoz. The Lamar, Colo., racer has been a seemingly unstoppable force in this year’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car ranks atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City clay oval, racing to victory lane in all three events thus far. Munoz sets his sights on four wins in a row going into Saturday’s Stock Car Spectacular that also includes a full slate of IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Miller is grand at Raceway Park

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 28) – David Miller was the $1,000 winner of Raceway Park’s Jim Johnson Memorial for IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks Sunday night. The battle for the top spot raged through the first half of the feature until Miller took control. Behind Miller, Andy Hoffman had been charging through the field from his starting spot near the back, only to come up six feet short at the finish line. Behind Miller and Hoffman, Brandon Nielson took the third spot, followed by Tony Fetterman. Arie Schouten took his second win of the year in the KCAU9 IMCA Northern SportMods, followed by Colby Langenberg, Rusty Montagne and Nelson Vollbrecht. In the Casey’s General Store IMCA Stock Car division, Jason Ward broke into victory lane for the first time this year. Greg Taylor picked up two positions during the final green, white, checkered finish to take second followed by Bo Lundquist and Tom McKenzie.

Bubak scores hard-fought URSS win at RPM

HAYS, Kan. (May 27) – The United Rebel Sprint finally got the monkey off of its back Saturday night before a packed house at RPM Speedway. Fans were treated to an epic battle as Jake Bubak battled young guns Jed Werner and Tracey Hill to take the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win. Outside pole starter Tracey Hill was the early leader before a lap two red flag. Jed Werner grabbed the runner-up spot on the ensuing restart while Bubak advanced to third. Bubak took over second on lap nine, then used traffic to his advantage in taking over the lead on lap 17. Bubak cruised to the victory following a lap 21 caution. Werner, Hill, J.D. IMCA Deery Series, Hawkeye Dirt Tour twinbill next at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Two IMCA series, one with a new point leader and the other with the point leader racing in his hometown, are en route next to Marshalltown Speedway for a Tuesday, June 6 doubleheader. Both the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models and the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds come to town for the midweek Miller Lite 50 special. Modified win at Arlington goes to Limoges

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 26) – Redwood Falls hotshoe Tyler Limoges was the third and final leader in Saturday’s MN 93 IMCA Modified main event at Arlington Raceway. Jesse Rogotzke was the early leader but after two laps Clint Hatlestad moved up six spots to take over the race. Limoges also moved up right behind Hatlestad and the two drivers jockeyed back and forth for several laps. In the end, it was Limoges who came out victorious. Birthday celebrant Dan Menk took third. The 95.7 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature saw a repeat winner in Neil Stevens.
