Eckrich dominant in Deery Series win at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (Aug. 24) – He’s been consistent throughout the 33rd annual Deery Brothers Summer Series. On Saturday night, Andy Eckrich was dominant. After showing off his speed in winning his IMCA Late Model tour heat race, Eckrich started fifth in the main event at West Liberty Raceway, reeled in early leader Kyle Hinrichs on the ninth circuit and stayed in front to the finish of the 35-lapper. The $2,000 victory was the career ninth and first of the season for Eckrich, the current Deery point leader. “It was really special,” said Eckrich, a three-time runner-up this year. “I have a lot of family and local fans who were here to see me win. Ryan, Dumpert are named IMCA Late Model national champs

VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 26) – Veteran Matt Ryan and newcomer Cory Dumpert will reign as national champions in the IMCA Late Model division. Both finished the 2019 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season with 594 points and 10 40-point feature wins. “This was an extraordinary season in terms of growth of our Late Model division, both in the number of licensed drivers and the number of sanctioned race tracks,” IMCA President Brett Root said. “It is only fitting that the national title chase ends shared by drivers from areas with established tracks and with newly-sanctioned tracks.” “Both drivers,” he added, “deserve all the recognition they receive.” Ryan, from Davenport, Iowa, and Dumpert, from York, Neb., will both receive $5,000 shares of the national divisional point fund. It’s a trifecta weekend for PASS

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Pennsylvania Sprint Series teams have one of their most demanding weekends Aug. 23-25 with three races scheduled across Central Pennsylvania. On Friday night, PASS/IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car drivers join their Laurel Highlands Sprint Series colleagues for a co-sanctioned event at Clinton County Motor Speedway. Then they head to two of their home tracks, racing Saturday at Port Royal Speedway and Sunday at BAPS Motor Speedway. Port Royal’s will be the sixth PASS event at Port Royal this year, with one rainout, and the last before the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge on Oct. 12. PASS veterans claimed the first three features with Ken Duke Jr. taking two and Nick Sweigart the other, but since then, youth has prevailed. Pre-entry open for inaugural Missouri IMCA Nationals

OSBORN, Mo. – Pre-entry for one of the most anticipated events of the US 36 Raceway season is now open. Drivers in the IMCA Modified, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods will battle to become the first winners in the inaugural Missouri IMCA Nationals. Practice for the event is on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Racing will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-12. BOONE, Iowa – A chassis builder synonymous with IMCA and the Modified division continues title sponsorship support for one of the most popular and prestigious events at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Deery Brothers Automotive Group in 28th season as IMCA Late Model tour sponsor

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – The longest running Late Model tour in the Midwest nears another milestone, with the approach of the 500th event in Deery Brothers Summer Series history. IMCA Late Models have enjoyed tour title sponsorship of the Deery Brothers Automotive Group for the last 28 of their 33 seasons. IMCA heroes celebrated at Sept. 2-7 Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – Dirt track racing heroes will be celebrated at an event that already has a Super Heroes theme. Boone Speedway hosts the 37th annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s on Sept. 2-7. More than 600 drivers from across the United States, and from Canada and Australia as well, have already pre-entered. “Super Nationals is a bucket list event for most drivers,” IMCA President Brett Root said. “Qualifying for a 30- or 33-car feature field when there are 200-plus entries is an accomplishment most racers should hang their hat on.” Early Modified entry numbers have already topped 200 while Stock Car entries are nearing the division record 193 that competed at the 2015 Super Nationals. Gillette’s East-West Clash features IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks

GILLETTE, Wyo. – IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run all three nights during Gillette Thunder Speedway’s 20th annual East-West Clash. All three Modified features are 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events, with $1,000 at stake Friday, Aug. 30 and Saturday, Aug. 31. The Sunday, Sept. 1 feature pays $1,500 to win. Hobby Stocks run for $250 to win Friday and Saturday and $350 to win on Sunday. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and E3 Spark Plugs State points will be awarded all three nights. Entry fee each night is $75 for Modifieds and $35 for Hobby Stocks. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. each night. Grandstand admission for adults is $12 on Friday and $15 Saturday and Sunday. Bailey impresses at Southern Oregon

By Don Martin II WHITE CITY, Ore. (Aug. 17) – Jesse Bailey scored an impressive win in the 25-lap IMCA Modified feature Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway. Bailey made an impressive outside groove effort that gained him the lead late in the race. Not even in the top five with 10 laps left, Bailey began working the higher line before a lap 20 yellow flag bunched the field. On the restart, Bailey was making his a bid to move into second as another yellow flag flew. Andy Freeman led Bailey and Jeremy Richey on the ensuing restart. Bailey made a high pass in turn four of the 24th lap to finally get the lead and eventual victory. Jorddon Braaten won the 20-lap Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature from the 10th starting spot. He’d also won his heat race and the trophy dash earlier in the evening.
