Wheatshocker Nationals this weekend for United Rebel Sprint Series

By David Smith, Jr., OKTidbits HAYS, Kansas – A staple on the series schedule happens as the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing heads to RPM Speedway this coming Saturday and Sunday for the 11th annual Wheatshocker Nationals. This huge two-night IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event will be held in conjunction with the Ellis County Fair in Hays. Sunday night’s championship finale will pay $2,000 to the winner. Also, a new Custom Pit Boss Pellet Grill will be awarded to the highest point earner for the two days courtesy of Lance Pittman and S&W Supply of Hays. Pits will open at 4 p.m. Pit passes will be $30 or $10 for and kids ages 12 and under accompanying a parent or guardian. Dakota Classic Tour rained out at Williston

WILLISTON, N.D. – Rain is officially the winner of the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour date scheduled tonight (Tuesday) at Williston Basin Speedway. Both IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will be back in tour action Wednesday at Southwest Speedway in Dickinson and Thursday at Dacotah Speedway in Mandan. IMCA.TV will broadcast both nights. Modified features pay $2,400 to win and are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events. Stock Car features pay $800 to win. The fourth annual Corral Sales Legendary 50 is Friday, July 12 at Mandan. IMCA Modifieds race for $10,004 that evening in another All-Star ballot qualifier.

Cedar County Fair show pays IMCA Modified winner $2,000

TIPTON, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds provide the blue ribbon fair entertainment in a $2,000 to win event Thursday, July 11 at Cedar County Raceway. The Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier pays a minimum of $130 to start; there is no entry fee for the draw/redraw show and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and E3 Spark Plugs State points will be awarded. A non-qualifier feature pays $300 to win and $75 to start; the winner of that event has the option of taking the $300 or starting in the back of the main event field. The grandstand at Tipton will be open all day. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 p.m. Pit passes are $30. Spectator admission is free with purchase of admission to the grounds, $8 before 4 p.m. and $12 after 4 p.m. Parking at the fairgrounds is free. Rookie Teske wins first career feature

(July 6) – Jeffery Teske has roots at the Shawano Speedway going back to his grandfather Jeff, a multi-time feature winner in the IMCA Modified division in the early 1990s. Now, only eight races into his rookie campaign in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod division, Teske has notched his name in the Shawano Speedway record books after recording his first career feature win. Fellow rookie Dylan Waldvogel led the early stages as Teske chased him in second. Teske got underneath Waldvogel on lap six to snag the top spot. Teske looked like a seasoned veteran as he pulled away from the field down the stretch. Point leader Jordan Bartz got to second but could not catch Teske, who cruised to the win followed by Bartz, 17th starting Bryce Clements, Matthew Radtke and Kevin Bethke. Marcus Yarie was the IMCA Modified winner and Travis Van Straten topped the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main.

Parker, Van Ooyen, Miller motor to wins at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 5) – First-time 2019 winners were the story Friday at Outagamie Speedway. Adam Reed took the lead away from Chase Parker early in the IMCA Modified feature. Parker moved to the top groove, retaking the front spot on lap five. Parker continued to lead as Wyatt Block Jr. and newcomer Cody Schroeder gave pursuit. Parker was up for the challenge, holding off all challengers to score his first win of the season. Block was second while Schroeder took third in only his third night in the class. In IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action, it was Mike Schmidt leading the first half of the feature. That’s when Chas Van Ooyen found traction up top, racing around Schmidt for the lead with six laps remaining. Josh Mroczkowski hounded Van Ooyen all the way to the checkers. Menk scores Arlington Modified win

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 6) – Dan Menk was the third and final leader in Saturday’s MN93 IMCA Modified feature at Arlington Raceway. Troy Gudmonson paced the first circuit before going to the work area with mechanical issues. Joe Roberts ran in front the next two laps with Clint Hatlestad close behind. By the fourth lap, Menk got around both cars and took over the lead position. He held the spot through two cautions to win ahead of Hatlestad and Chad Porter. Neil Stevens took the lead on the 13th lap en route to the Alpha Media IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car checkers. Racing was often four-wide in the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car main event. Dean Cornelius started 12th and won his second straight feature ahead of 16th starting Curt Lund. Jeremy Brown was the fourth different leader in the Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Thornton sweeps Dakota Classic Tour features at Estevan

The Adel, Iowa driver has hit his stride right at the perfect time, and doing double duty has not been a hindrance. Thornton grabbed his second victories of the 30th annual Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour in both the $2,400 to win IMCA Modifieds and $800 to win IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Monday night at Estevan Motor Speedway. In the 30-lapper for the Modifieds, Billy Kendall and Jason Wolla led the field to green. Kendall held the lead over Thornton and hometown driver Kody Scholpp as one lap was put into the books. Contact between Kendall and Wolla in the first corner led to a ruffled quarter panel on the Kendall machine. A bobble by Thornton in the middle of turns one and two opened up a lane for Scholpp to get around. Thornton steals the show at Nodak

(July 7) – Ricky Thornton Jr. may have had the worst redraw of the IMCA Modified heat race winners at Nodak Speedway, but he maneuvered his 20RT machine through the field and grabbed a cool $2,400 check in Sunday’s second installment of the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. The 2015 tour champion started outside row four alongside the winner of the opener at Jamestown, Tom Berry Jr. Chris Schroeder and Iowa wheelman Justin O’Brien led the field to green. O’Brien tried to get a jump on Schroeder, but Schroeder took the field by surprise and powered his machine below O’Brien’s back into the top spot. Racing action was fierce in between the cautions. White takes home biggest share of green from Cardinal’s 10th annual Sheen Memorial

EUNICE, N.M. (July 6) – What a difference from a year ago. Dustin White didn’t complete a lap at the 2018 Kelly Sheen Memorial Shootout, pulling off with fuel issues before even seeing the green flag. Now fast forward to Saturday night when he took home the biggest share of the green after winning Cardinal Speedway’s 10th annual event. What became $2,100 checkers with late additions to the purse flew ahead of Justin Graves and hard-charging Michael Sheen, the three-time and defending race winner, who’d taken the $1,000 challenge to start in back after running second in the Friday qualifier. “Winning this race is huge for me,” said White, from Lamesa, Texas. “I come from the same town as Kelly and have become good friends with (his son) Michael the last couple years. Hiatt hauls home Eagle hardware

(July 6) – Shane Hiatt scored his first Hoosier Tire IMCA Modified feature win of the season at America’s Home Track Saturday night. “It’s been a long time coming,” Hiatt said from victory lane at Eagle Raceway. “We’ve been kind of struggling with this new car but we put in a lot of hours in the shop this week and really dug deep to see if we could make it any better. All the hard work paid off, finally!” Trent Roth’s led the opening lap with Hiatt, Chad Andersen and Jan Korth the rest of the top four. Mike Densberger passed Korth the next lap, then moved to third with 13 circuits remaining. Roth was pounding the cushion and Hiatt was hugging the bottom as the battled.
