Perfect during regular season at Beatrice, Grabouski gets 200th IMCA Modified win

BEATRICE, Neb. – Jordan Grabouski is hoping two milestone achievements earned on the same night lead to a third accomplishment at the end of the season. Grabouski won his IMCA Modified career 200th feature on Friday, completing the rare feat of sweeping the regular season at his hometown track with his 11th victory in as many starts at Beatrice Speedway. The victory was the 27th of the year for Grabouski, running for a third national championship. “It’s always cool to win at Beatrice. This is the track where I grew up so it’s got a special place in my heart,” said Grabouski, IMCA’s national champion in 2011 and 2016. “I grew up watching a lot of great drivers at Beatrice. Roach is first SportMod Mayhem repeat winner

(Aug. 18) – Mike Roach became the first repeat winner of Dodge City Raceway Park’s $1,000-to-win IMCA SportMod Mayhem event by racing to victory lane in Saturday night’s fifth annual event. Roach topped the 25-lapper from sixth starting after initially topping the event in 2015. He needed just four laps to race into second and then took the lead away from Jeff Kaup on the eighth circuit. Roach led the rest of the way to post his second consecutive victory at Dodge City with Brandon Kenney in tow after taking the second position from Kaup on the ninth lap. After topping last year’s SportMod Mayhem main, Dustin Daniels fell two positions short of going back-to-back by filling out the podium in third with Kaup and Blaine Walt rounding out the top five. Clancy is double winner at US 36

By Rick Staley OSBORN, Mo. (Aug. 17) – Chad Clancy was a double winner Friday at US 36 Raceway, topping IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car features. Clancy battled Mich Ross before going the upper hand in the Stock Car show. He went side-by-side and wheel-to-wheel with Richard Spriggs before taking his second checkers of the evening in the Modified main. Matt Lent ran a near-perfect Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main event and the result was his career-first win. Steve Starmer was second while Josh Munsen’s late charge for third. Jack Potter led every lap in winning his first local IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main event. Drivers wished a happy birthday to Caleb Hammond via live video, and collected stickers as well as more than $1,000 during intermission for the 11-year-old race fan from Oskaloosa, Iowa, battling leukemia.

Huls scores 100th IMCA Stock Car win at Lee County

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (Aug. 17) – Abe Huls was the winner for the 100th time in his career Friday, prevailing at Pepsi Lee County Speedway. Kevin Koontz and Cody McClure made up the front row but fourth starting John Oliver Jr. grabbed the lead and set the early pace out front while the rest of the field battled two- and sometimes three-wide behind him. Huls, who started fifth and fell back to sixth on the opening circuit, worked himself into the runner up spot on lap five and then went to work on Oliver for the top spot. Huls tried to work under Oliver as the two raced side-by-side around the 3/8-mile oval. Oliver was able to hold him off until lap 12, when Huls edged out front. Oliver stayed glued to Huls’ back bumper over the final laps but was unable to get by Huls for the win. Super Nationals nears record with entries from 26 states

BOONE, Iowa – The number of drivers already entered for the Sept. 3-8 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s is impressive. So are all the states they’re coming to Boone Speedway from, to be part of America’s Racin’ Vacation. “Our pre-registration numbers are over 500 and running ahead of last year. What’s really neat to see is the number of different states (26 so far, plus Canada and Australia) that are represented by early entries,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “We pride ourselves on having a set of rules that allows drivers to go to any sanctioned track in the country and know they’ll be legal when they get there,” he continued. “That’s one reason why so many drivers from so many different places make Super Nationals their racing vacation every September.” The record for different states represented at Super Nationals is 27, matched most recently two years ago. “The atmosphere at Boone is a huge draw. Services are Aug. 22 for former Luxemburg promoter Rick Goral

DENMARK, Wis. – Services for former Luxemburg Speedway promoter Rick Goral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark. Goral, 63, died on Aug. 15. He’d ended a 10-year career as promoter at Luxemburg in 2011 and will be inducted into the track hall of fame this evening posthumously. He is survived by his children, Jeff (Erica) Goral, Brian Goral and Beth (significant other Jason Bomski) Goral; grandchildren Maxwell, Mollie, Samuel, Gabriella and Ava; his mother, Alice Goral; brother, Ron Goral, former wife, Catherine Goral, sister-in-law, B.J. Goral, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation is at the Cotter Funeral Home-Denmark Chapel, 536 County Road R, Denmark, on Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 3-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9-10:30 a.m. Following the Mass of Christian Burial of Wednesday, interment will be at All Saints Catholic Cemetery. Hunter Marriott counts victories at four qualifying events, including Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour features at Park Jefferson Speedway and Buena Vista Raceway, plus Night of 1,000 Stars and Bob Shryock Memorial All Star races at Hancock County Speedway.
