Patience pays off for Hobscheidt with Swanson Memorial IMCA Modified win

HARLAN, Iowa (July 13) – He only led one lap, but it was the most important one. Jacob Hobscheidt caught Chaz Baca for the front spot on the 20th and final circuit Tuesday night, then took the checkers a quarter of a second ahead of the Arizona visitor to win the IMCA Modified feature at Shelby County Speedway’s Dale Swanson Memorial. The win, good for $2,500, was Hobscheidt’s third in as many starts at Harlan this season. “I kept being patient,” said Hobscheidt, who needed just eight laps to race from the ninth starting spot to second. “I knew we needed to wait until the right time, and we did it.” Bub Lerette led the first lap from the pole before giving way to Brad Bergren. Black’s IMCA Dakota Tour struggles end, Flory continues Stock success at Williston

(July 13) – Tanner Black saw his string of tough outings end Tuesday night with his career-first Corral Sales Dakota Classic IMCA Modified Tour win at Williston Basin Speedway. He swapped the lead with Tim Ward in the green, white, checkered conclusion to the $2,000 to win main event. “We’ve struggled really bad this week,” said Black, who had 13th, 20th and 26th place finishes to show for three tour starts leading into Williston. “We got a better draw this time, had a good heat race and were able to get into the redraw. Dominic Ursetta had drawn the pole and quickly pulled away from the field quickly, but Black found the fast line up top and passed Ursetta for lead seven laps in. Eric Van Iten Memorial … a lifetime of friendship leads to historic event

By Joe Orsini LUXEMBURG, Wis. – July 18th’s Eric Van Iten Memorial Race is set to be the largest race in the history of the ⅓-mile, clay oval in Luxemburg, Wis. It is also slated to be one of the largest single day events in the history of dirt track racing in the state. When Eric passed away early in 2021 his longtime friend, Troy “Snoot” DeGrave, knew he had to do something. Troy confided, “Eric passed away from cancer too young in life and I was thinking I wanted to do something to memorialize him because he did a lot for racing and a lot for my racing career.” Eric had won the 2000 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car championship at Luxemburg Speedway and Troy reached out to the Kewaunee County Racing Association (KCRA) which is promoting races at the rebranded ‘Burg Speedway. Hibdon bounces back after DNQ with night three IMCA Modified Dakota Classic Tour feature win

MINOT, N.D. (July 12) – What a difference a day makes. After a Sunday DNQ at Nodak Speedway, Kollin Hibdon bounced back with a second IMCA Modified win on the third night of the Corral Sales Dakota Classic Tour, leading all 30 laps of Monday’s main event at Minot. “Sunday was more of a driver issue. $250 Sunoco bonus for Late Model winners in Nebraska this weekend

VINTON, Iowa – Extra money is on the line for the winner of weekend main events for IMCA Sunoco Late Models at a trio of Nebraska speedplants this weekend. The next three installments of the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus will be paid to the July 15-17 Late Model winners at US 30 Speedway in Columbus, Boone County Raceway in Albion, and Off Road Speedway in Norfolk. Sunoco bonuses will be presented at IMCA Late Model sanctioned tracks in 2021. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the racing season. Winners so far this year have been Matt Ryan at 300 Raceway in Farley, followed by Sean Johnson at Independence Motor Speedway, Andy Eckrich at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, and most recently Ron Klein at Dubuque Speedway. IMCA will announce mid-week before the dates bonuses are to be awarded at each track. Hot laps are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Columbus and Albion, and a half hour earlier at 7 pm in Norfolk.

Long tows pay off with IMCA Dakota Tour Nodak Speedway wins for Dotson, Madrid

By Rebecca Rattei MINOT, N.D. (July 11) – Ethan Dotson’s IMCA Modified success in the Midwest continued on Sunday, as the Corral Sales Dakota Classic Tour moved to Nodak Speedway for night two. Dotson got the best of Tripp Gaylord in a back-and-forth battle, regaining the lead on the last lap and then pulling away to the $2,000 IMCA Modified victory at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds oval. “The Dakota Tour has always been a big deal. It’s pretty cool to finally be able to win one of these races,” the California driver said. “There were a lot of good cars from a lot of states here.” Minot’s own Steven Pfeifer led the field to the green flag and raced side-by-side with Dotson who eventually grabbed the lead 10 laps into the 30-lapper. Billy Maynard Memorial win proves third time’s the charm for Brad Sites

By Evan Canfield MONROETON, Pa. (July 9) – Though only two races had been completed in the inaugural NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series season, luck had not been on the side of Brad Sites. Although he entered the Billy Maynard Memorial at The Hill Speedway as the point leader, the previous two races had gone far from smooth. While leading in both races, he found himself backwards, having to climb his way back to top five finishes that helped propel him to the top of the standings. At the end of Friday night’s race, he once again had to overcome adversity to claim his first series checkered flag. Hancock County hosts $1,100 to win show for IMCA Stock Cars

BRITT, Iowa – Two trips to Hancock County Speedway’s victory lane on Friday, July 16 will send an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car driver home with $1,600. That evening’s main event for The Class Too Tough To Tame pays $1,100 and makes the winner eligible to qualify for the B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational, while the Stock Car King of the Hill pays another $500 to win. There is no entry fee and IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts round out the draw/redraw show. VINTON, Iowa (July 11) – Watching the IMCA Modified feature from his vantage point in staging gave Austen Becerra a pretty good idea where the fast line would be for his own main event Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Hibdon won the IMCA Modified feature on opening night of the Corral Sales Dakota Classic Tour, passing Eddie Belec for the front spot with eight circuits left in the 30-lapper.
