Durbin makes it two straight at East Moline Speedway

By Rob Hinckley EAST MOLINE, Ill. (May 22, 2022) – He slowed the car in turn three, but the accelerator was down off turn four. Brandon Durbin found a way to negotiate the final two turns and won his second straight 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature Sunday evening at East Moline Speedway. The Colona, Ill. hotshoe bested Travis Denning in another classic battle. “Me and Denning had quite the battle there,” Durbin said in victory lane. “The car was too free in the center, but once I got it straight I had good traction.” Durbin started in the front row and held off Denning lap after lap, with both cars on the cushion of turns one and two. “It was extremely slick on the bottom. There wasn’t much there. I figured if I got out front, got up top and held that line, I’d be all right.” Andy Nezworski, Jim Sandusky and Anthony Guss rounded out the top five. R.J. Kyle Olson KO’s Friday foes at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 20, 2022) – After a Wednesday night special, the Marshalltown Speedway was right back into action on Friday for night number two of regular weekly points racing. Dallon Murty topped the field in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Kaden Reynolds was the winner in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Kyle Olson made it two in a row in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod division, Eric Knutson paced the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Randy Bryan saw his first trip to victory lane in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Bryan fought his way past Joel Huggins on lap eight of the 15-lap main event for the STARS Mod Lites, then held off the competition to score his first win at Marshalltown Speedway this year. She Said Yes – Fett follows first win of 2022 with proposal in victory lane

ALGONA, Iowa (May 23, 2022) – Alec Fett got his first feature win of the season and a fiancée on the same night. The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod driver from Burt won the May 19 main event at home track Kossuth County Speedway. During his turn in victory lane later in the program, Fett asked announcer/interviewer Chad Meyer to call girlfriend Brooke Boettcher over and endearments were expressed before he got down on one knee to pop the question. Speechless at first, the future Mrs. Fett said yes. Alec put the ring on her finger and the Kossuth County crowd got to applaud them both. “I’ve thought about doing it here (at Kossuth County Speedway) for about a year. It’s where most of our family and friends are and it’s been my home track since I started racing hornets eight years ago,” Fett said. “Brooke had looked at rings with friends. Steenbergen holds on for $1,000 IMCA Stock Car payday at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (May 22, 2022) – A margin of six hundredths of a second was all it took for Jeff Steenbergen to pocket $1,000 Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. The Johnson Creek, Wis., native made the 3.5 hour tow pay off on a night the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Vermedahl Logistics offered a $1,000 winner’s share. Starting on the front row alongside fellow Wisconsinite Luke Lemmens, Steenbergen was quick to move to the race lead when the green flag waved. He protected the bottom groove while Lemmens applied persistent pressure. Lemmens briefly assumed command when Steenbergen attempted to extend his lead by moving to a higher line. Those efforts were unsuccessful, however he was able to regain the point returning to the low side a short time later. As the lead pair battled, Dustin Vis, Eric Mahlik, Dylan Thornton and Kaden Reynolds gave chase. IMCA STARS Mod Lites shine at Diamond Park’s Mayhem

NASHVILLE, Ark. (May 23, 2022) – It’ll be two nights of pandemonium at The Premier Dirt Track in the South, when Diamond Park Speedway hosts Mod Lite Mayhem Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29. IMCA STARS Mod Lites run for $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start the main event. Beene’s Towing & Recovery presents the holiday weekend special, which also features a States Race and Manufacturers’ Dash. The $250 entry fee includes car and driver both nights and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, KMJ Performance State and track points will be awarded. Ten cars advance from the Friday qualifying feature and another 10 from last-chance races on Saturday. Two defending IMCA national champs among US 36 winners

By Rick Staley OSBORN, Mo. (May 20, 2022) – A pair of defending IMCA national champions were Central Auto Racing Boosters Night winners Friday at US 36 Raceway. IMCA STARS Mod Lites kicked off the evening with side-by-side racing throughout the pack of contenders. Defending national champ Dillon Raffurty swept the night, winning both his heat race and the feature. It wasn’t easy in the feature as Raffurty worked from the back of the field to take the lead at the halfway point and never looked back. Jeff Raffurty led early and battled with Kyle Guy until Guy made his move to finish second in the closing laps, moving Jeff Raffurty to third. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars saw Jay Russell dominate, winning both his heat and the feature. Russell set the pace after battling early with Jacob Dye and Jack Potter until Dye took a tumble down the front straight, bringing his night to an end. Brown repeats, Spaw returns to CJ Speedway victory lane

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 20, 2022) – Friday night racing was held at CJ Speedway with a large increase in car count and an action packed night of close racing on the slick and smooth 4/10-mile dirt track on the Louisa County Fairgrounds. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature saw Jarrett Brown make his way to victory lane for the second consecutive week. Brown steadily worked to the front from a fifth row start and made the winning pass on lap 12 of the 16-lap feature. Brown slipped by race leader Dakota Simmons by using multiple lines on the very racy track. Simmons took second at the checkers ahead of early leader Jonathan Huston. Johnny Spaw has been so busy building race cars that his racing schedule has been very limited. IMCA STARS Mod Lites have May 27-29 Cornbelt Clash dates

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 23, 2022) – IMCA STARS Mod Lites race for $500 to win each night of their Cornbelt Clash tripleheader over the Memorial Weekend. Features Friday, May 27 at Marshalltown Speedway, Saturday, May 28 at Boone Speedway and Sunday, May 29 at Stuart Speedway all pay a minimum of $100 to start. Yoshimura bonuses of $250, $150 and $100 will be paid to top three eligible finishers on Sunday; hard chargers each night also receive a certificate for a STARS plated tire from Hooser. CARB Night Friday at US 36 Raceway

By Rick Staley OSBORN, Mo. (May 20, 2022) – Racing returns to US 36 Raceway Friday, May 20 with six IMCA divisions seeing action on the high banks. Adding to the excitement it is CARB Night with all Central Auto Racing Booster members getting in free to the grandstands by presenting their CARB membership card at the grandstand gate. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA STARS Mod Lites, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern Sport Mods and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts all vie for that checkered flag and first-place trophy. Pit passes are $35. In addition to free grandstand admission for CARB members displaying membership cards, spectator admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors 65 and older and active military and veterans, $5 for kids ages 7-12 $5 and kids ages six and under are free.
