Ruter rules record-setting opener at Nodak for Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour

MINOT, N.D. (July 5) – Ryan Ruter was the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified winner on a record-setting opening night for the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour at Nodak Speedway. The $2,100 checkers flew for Ruter as a series record 93 Modifieds were checked in for the Sunday show. That eclipsed by one the mark set last year at Dacotah Speedway. Ten states and Canada were represented in the main event. Jordan Grabouski, Hunter Marriott, Ricky Thornton Jr. and Robert Hellebust completed the top five. “We drew well but this was a win we had to earn,” said Ruter, who started the 30-lapper from outside row one. “The track was good and we had a good race with Hunter for a majority of the night.” Cautions throughout the contest kept lapped traffic from becoming a factor. Dowell dazzles in Texas Nationals IMCA Modified feature

By J.M. Hallas WACO, Texas (July 4) – J.P. Dowell scored the big $1,500 Texas IMCA Nationals payday, making a convincing run to the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified checkers. The new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier won the pole dash, started from the front row and led every circuit in the 25-lap, caution-free main event. Dowell beat Kevin Green into turn one when the green flag waved. Justin Radcliff and former national champion Keith White both got by Green but by that time Dowell had already checked out on the field. Even lapped traffic didn’t deter Dowell as he continued his domination, dicing through slower cars. Carter races to big payday at Great American Stock Car Shootout

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 2) – Cayden Carter raced to a $2,000 payday on night two of Southern Iowa Speedway’s Budweiser Great American Stock Car Shootout. The Shootout brought many of the top drivers in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division to Oskaloosa and the 30-lap main event didn’t disappoint. Derrick Agee and Damon Murty ran 1-2 in the dash earlier in the evening and started on the front row. Murty took advantage and grabbed the early lead with Agee staying right behind while Mike Hughes, Nathan Wood and Carter battled for position. It looked as if Murty was going to take the big check home but after the halfway pit stop it was Carter taking the lead away on lap 19 and staying in front to the finish. He took the win over Murty, two-time defending race winner Zack VanderBeek, David Brandies and Agee. Nezworski dominates in Deery win at Kossuth County, regains series point lead

ALGONA, Iowa (July 2) – His Thursday night feature win at Kossuth County Speedway did more than put $3,000 in Andy Nezworski’s bank account. His start to finish run at the front of the IMCA Late Model pack put him back on top of point standings for the Deery Brothers Summer Series. The 40-lapper ran caution free and Nezworski had more than a straightaway on runner-up Jeff Aikey when the checkers flew in from of a big Kossuth County crowd. Todd Malmstrom, Scott Fitzpatrick and Ryan Dolan completed the top five. “It took a while to get through lapped traffic, but we got through OK,” said Nezworski, who loaded up and headed for home rather than stay for the post-race fireworks display. “It was a good night for us and we needed it to be. Smith repeats Suter Memorial Stock Car heroics

By Steve Zwemke ALTA, Iowa (July 1) – Wednesday’s headline feature at Buena Vista Raceway could not have been more exciting as David Smith repeated as $1,000 winner of the Kyle Suter Memorial for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Smith grabbed the early lead and raced among a five-car pack that included Chris Ullrich, Roger Verdoorn, Derek Green and Devin Smith until the first caution. After the restart, Smith continued to lead while Ullrich and Green kept pace. Meanwhile, Devin Smith and Donavon Smith were joined by Randy Brands, Jason Minnehan and Brian Blessington who came from farther back in the field. The race’s final caution came with just a couple laps remaining when Donavan Smith and Derek Green where fighting for the same piece of real estate in turn one. The call was on Green who then exited the race. On the restart, Brands drove his car hard to the bottom of turn one and overtook David Smith before they exited turn two. Carter, VanDerWal, Griffiths lead points at Great American Stock Car Shootout

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 1) – Cayden Carter (IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars), Curtis VanDerWal (Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods) and Dustin Griffiths (IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks) were the top point getters, as all three won both their heat races on opening night of Southern Iowa Speedway’s 20th annual Budweiser Great American Stock Car Shootout. Back at it for night two on Thursday will be dashes for the top eight in points and last-chance qualifiers for all three divisions. The Stock Car main event pays $2,000 to win while Northern SportMod and Hobby Stock mains both pay $1,000. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing is at 7:30 p.m. In Wednesday’s Stock Car action, round one heats went to Derrick Agee, Damon Murty and Carter. First green flag is Sunday at Nodak for Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour

MANDAN, N.D. – The 26th annual Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour starts this Sunday, July 5 at Nodak Speedway. A record online pre-entry list has Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers coming from 15 US states and two Canadian provinces. Defending champions Jeff Taylor and Dalton Flory are among the early entries. An enhanced payout, courtesy of Industrial Electric of Dickinson, will now pay $2,100 to win, and $300 to start the Modified feature races at all six tracks in the series. Strickler scores IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour honors at Hancock County

BRITT, Iowa (June 30) – Hancock County Speedway saluted veterans with a pre-Independence Day special event and the fans in the full grandstands saluted Kyle Strickler when the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature was complete. Strickler led the last 23 of 30 laps in Tuesday’s IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour main event. The win paid $3,300 plus a $500 bonus for leading the race at halfway. Kyle Brown ran in front the first seven circuits and finished a distant second, but still moved into the top spot in the series point standings. IMCA North Star Touring Series finale is Friday at Fairmont

FAIRMONT, Minn. – Five champions will be crowned when the IMCA North Star Touring Series visits Fairmont Raceway for its Friday, July 3 finale. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts all see tour action for the sixth and final time this season. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and free for students ages 18 and under. Pit passes are $25.
