Kay stands tallest twice at LaSalle’s One Night Stand

LASALLE, Ill. (Aug. 6) – One driver stood above the rest twice at LaSalle Speedway’s One Night Stand. Justin Kay topped both the $3,000 to win IMCA Late Model feature and the $2,000 to win Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event Saturday night. While he’d been to the Illinois oval twice before as a spectator, his weekend visit to LaSalle was Kay’s competitive first. He led all but the first of 40 Late Model circuits and all 30 Modified laps. Tyler Soppe was the $2,000 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod winner. At-large balloting complete, 18 more All-Stars announced

BOONE, Iowa – Two more former race winners joined the field for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational through the at-large round of voting. Jay Noteboom, winner of the 2005 and 2008 events, and Chris Abelson, the 2011 race winner, are among 18 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified drivers advancing from the second round of balloting, which ended on Friday. Noteboom will start his career ninth All-Star event, more than any other driver, on Friday, Sept. 9 during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. Abelson takes the All-Star green for a sixth straight year. Modified dash is new to IMCA Harris Clash

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (Aug. 5) – Promoter Bob Harris has found a new twist for one of the longest running specials for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. Drivers from eight states are now pre-entered for the 25th annual Harris Clash, which will pay $2,000 to win next Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. The Clash is the second nightly installment of IMCA Speedweek and a qualifying event for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. What’s new this year is a 10-lap dash that pays $500 to win and $100 to start. IMCA Speedweek starts with rich Hawkeye Dirt Tour show at Clay County

SPENCER, Iowa – The first Hawkeye Dirt Tour event at Clay County Fair Speedway will also be one of the top-paying races in the six-plus season history of the series for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. Winner of the Monday, Aug. 8 feature earns $5,000. Hahn Roofing of Spencer and the Clay County Fair both added money to the purse to make the winner’s check the biggest of the 2016 tour. Kay continues Deery Series dominance at Cedar County

TIPTON, Iowa (Aug. 2) – A quick call to the assessor’s office would reveal that Justin Kay does not own Cedar County Raceway. It just seems like he does. Kay won his third straight Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at the Tipton oval Tuesday night, leading the last 31 circuits in a fast-paced 50-lapper that ran caution-free. The $2,000 victory was his IMCA Late Model tour career 18th and second this season. “We’ve always run really well at Tipton. It’s probably one of the tracks I have the most laps on, too,” said Kay, who started racing there in his 4-cylinder days. “Everything about that track I love. IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour checkers fly for Dripps’ first Tipton triumph

TIPTON, Iowa (Aug. 2) – Corey Dripps put another check on his bucket list by taking the $1,000 check at Tuesday’s Hawkeye Dirt Tour event at Cedar County Raceway. Dripps led all 30 laps of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature at Tipton, outrunning defending tour champion Kyle Brown for the midweek win at Tipton. “This is one of the few tracks in Iowa where I hadn’t won at. Tipton twinbill next for Deery Series, IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour

TIPTON, Iowa – IMCA’s Deery Brothers Summer Series and Hawkeye Dirt Tour travel to Cedar County Raceway for what’s become a traditional dirt track twinbill Tuesday night. The Aug. 2 doubleheader takes both IMCA Late Models and Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds to Tipton for a fifth consecutive year. Late Models race for $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Modifieds chase a $1,000 top check and a minimum of $150 to start their 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. KRA Speedway fair special features three IMCA divisions

WILLMAR, Minn. – KRA Speedway brings in three IMCA sanctioned divisions to headline the Kandiyohi County Fair special on Wednesday, Aug. 10. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $500 to win, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $375 to win and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for $300 to win that evening in Willmar. Rules in place for Princeton and Brainerd will be in effect. “We wanted to bring in something different this year,” said Promoter Jason McCoy, who anticipates that a solid number of regulars at IMCA tracks in the area will enter the midweek show. “I think we’re going to knock the socks off this thing.” IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be given in all three divisions. First round of All-Star voting is complete

BOONE, Iowa – Defending race winner Jimmy Gustin, 2014 winner Kyle Strickler and a trio of first-time All-Stars are among the 10 Modified drivers already guaranteed starting spots on the Fast Shafts Invitational grid during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Gustin and brother Richie had the top two vote totals in first-round balloting from the BMS North Central Region – Richie led all candidates with 12,945 votes – while Strickler and Scott Sessions, the first Floridian elected to the All-Star event in its 13-year history, led the way in the Dirt Works Eastern Region. Hunter Marriott and Jeff Taylor were elected out of the Jet Racing Central Region, first-timer Kevin Green and William Gould from the Razor Chassis South Central Region.
