Winner banks $2,500 at IMCA Northern SportMod Nationals

BRITT, Iowa – There’s a $2,500 check waiting for the winner of Hancock County Speedway’s Tuesday, June 18 Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod Nationals. The MaxYield Seed-sponsored special pays a minimum of $300 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and E3 Spark Plugs Iowa State, but no track points will be awarded and top finishers from each heat advance to the $200 to win DeKalb/Asgrow Dash to determine their starting spots in the main event. Entry fee of $50 must be postmarked by June 14 and should be mailed to 4 Wide Promotions at PO Box 424 in Garner, Iowa, 50438. Late entry fee is $75. Also running that evening at Britt are IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. National, regional and state points will be awarded in those three divisions. IMCA Wild West Modified Shootout set for June 21-29

By Ben Deatherage YREKA, Calif. – The ninth annual IMCA Wild West Modified Shootout is ready to get started with eight $1,000 to win features on the series schedule. Teams from Oregon, Washington, California, North Dakota, British Columbia, and beyond are expected to make the journey. The Speedweek extravaganza ventures to some of the best racing facilities in California and Oregon. All features are qualifying events for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and pay a minimum of $100 to start. The party gets started on Friday, June 21 at Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, Calif., for the only date in the Golden State. IMCA Modified crown jewel Clash at the Creek is June 19-20 at 141

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – Ten thousand dollars is the top prize at 141 Speedway’s June 19 and 20 Clash at the Creek special for IMCA Modifieds. Both the purse and the quality of competition have made the Clash one of the crown jewels for IMCA Modifieds and the 11th annual event is sure to be one of the best. Ken Schrader returns to the field for the rich Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier, which will pay a minimum of $750 to start. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods race for $1,000 to win both nights at Francis Creek. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region, and E3 Spark Plugs Wisconsin State points will be awarded. Gustin cashes in at Marshalltown with Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights win

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 4) – The driver who’s won the most Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour features added to his total Tuesday evening at Marshalltown Speedway. Richie Gustin topped the $2,000 to win main event for IMCA Modifieds, taking the lead on lap eight and pulling away from Jordan Grabouski to capture the opening night checkers. Gustin was already on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. The victory was his tour career ninth and third at Marshalltown. Tim Ward had led the stout field as the race went green, with Gustin tucking in behind to run in second. Gustin took several peeks in the corners, tried an unsuccessful slide at lap seven, then managed the pass on the front stretch at lap eight to take command. Gustin soon had Joel Rust reeling him in, with Grabouski coming with a head of steam to run third after starting 11th. Big Sky, Sheridan host IMCA Gunslinger Tour dates

BILLINGS, Mont. – Four dates and a pair of Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events comprise the upcoming Gunslinger Tour. IMCA Modifieds race for $600 to win on Friday, June 7 and for $1,000 to win on Saturday, June 8 at Big Sky Speedway in Billings, Mont.; and for $600 to win on Sunday, June 9 and for $1,000 to win on Monday, June 10 at Wyoming’s Sheridan Speedway. Top driver in points for the four shows now earns an additional $1,000 plus a championship belt. Second place gets $750, third place gets $500, fourth place gets $400 and fifth in points is good for $300. Thornton proves mettle at Dacotah’s Iron Man 100

MANDAN, N.D. (June 1) – Ricky Thornton Jr. proved his mettle in Saturday’s 100-lap Iron Man main event for IMCA Modifieds at Dacotah Speedway. As a result, he took home $5,000 from his latest Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying victory. In a replay from their opening night qualifying feature finish, Thornton and Tom Berry Jr. ran 1-2 in the finale at Mandan. Marlyn Seidler, Robert Hellebust and Casey Arneson rounded out the top five. Thornton had driven away from the rest of the field from his outside front row starting spot but his huge lead was erased by a lap 21 caution. Berry slipped by Thornton following the restart and pulled a disappearing act of his own before the mandatory lap 50 caution. When the race resumed, Thornton retook the lead and pulled away. Seidler made a late-race pass of Hellebust to grab third. Kelly Henderson started 11th and finished first in the opening night feature for Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods following the 2Strong Summer Dirt Series. Davis, Egbert, Williams clinch Red River Tour crowns

(May 31) – The finale to the second edition of the Lone Star Super Gas IMCA Red River Modified Tour presented by Smiley’s Racing Products provided a lot of action as the racing events unfolded on the Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Feature winners on the fifth and final night of the tour were Jake O’Neil, IMCA Modifieds; Trevor Egbert, Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods; and Jeffrey Abbey, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Champions were Cory Davis in the Modifieds, Egbert and Gary Williams, Stock Cars. Throughout the Modified pack, three- and four-wide racing was common as the racers fought for position. Up front, Travis Johnson and O’Neil raced around the high side of the speedway and O’Neil attempted to find a way around Johnson. In almost every single corner, O’Neil would double up with Johnson, but couldn’t find the momentum to do so until a few laps later. Allen plays spoiler in Big O Speedway Red River IMCA Modified Tour feature

By Jackson Braun ENNIS, Texas (May 28) – The first visit to the Big O Speedway for the Lone Star Super Gas IMCA Red River Modified Tour did not disappoint as Chase Allen, Bo Day and Jeffrey Abbey all raced to victory lane. Tour career tour win number two for Allen, who took the opener last year in Kennedale, paid $1,500 and put him on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Jeff Taylor and Allen led the field to green. Allen was fast from the start, getting the jump on the initial start and never looking back. Every single restart, Allen was smoother than cream cheese on a bagel as his no. 157 machine ran away from the field. Josh McGaha started inside row two and passed Taylor after a restart. Chris Elliott charged from the 18th starting spot to the top 10, gaining a little more real estate on every single restart as he worked the top and middle lanes of the track. Davis, Williams get 2nd Red River Tour wins, Egbert tops Southern SportMod main at 281

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (May 27) – Cory Davis and Gary Williams both won second Lone Star Super Gas IMCA Red River Modified Tour presented by Smiley’s Racing Products features on Memorial Day at 281 Speedway. Trevor Egbert, meanwhile, won for the first time at Stephenville in so long he wasn’t sure when. Davis led all 25 laps of the IMCA Modified main event, weathering a series of early cautions and pulling away after each restart. Also the Sunday night winner at Heart O’ Texas Speedway, Davis checked out on everybody in taking the $1,500 victory. Fred Wojtek and Chris Morris were next across the line. Williams had topped the Saturday IMCA Sunoco Stock Car lidlifter at Kennedale Speedway Park. IMCA Stock Car Shootout checkers get Grabouski $5,000 and cool trophy

HAYS, Kan. (May 29) – He’s enjoyed his share of success and then some at Hays in an IMCA Modified, but Jordan Grabouski wasn’t sure about his chances when taking the green flag in Thursday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Shootout feature at RPM Speedway. After the 40-lapper, he wasn’t sure where to best display the cool trophy. Grabouski worked his way up from ninth starting, drove between Mike Nichols and Kyle Pfeifer to take the lead before midway, and stayed in front to the $5,000 checkers at the inaugural event, presented by First Class Chassis. “I didn’t think we had a shot, from where we started and with so many good cars starting ahead of us,” admitted Grabouski. “But my car was lights out.
