Hawthorne Speedway grand reopening is Saturday 

HAWTHORNE, Nev. – The grand reopening for Hawthorne Speedway is Saturday, May 21, as Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds take to the quarter-mile oval for their first of six 2016 events at the Nevada speedplant. Racing starts at 5 p.m. Saturday. The Iron Man Challenge Series comes to town on June 27 and 28. Other sanctioned dates are July 9 and Sept. 3 and 4. Hawthorne is part of IMCA’s Larry Shaw Racing Western Region.

Davenport Speedway hosts May 20 Modified Madness 50 

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The winner of the headline event earns $2,000 at Davenport Speedway’s Modified Madness 50 on Friday, May 20. The 50-lap feature for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds is a qualifying event for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, BMS North Central Region and Allstar Performance State, but no local track points will be awarded for the draw/redraw show. The $50 entry fee can be paid at the gate. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., the drivers’ meeting is at 6 p.m. and hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. Racing on the quarter-mile oval starts at 6:45 p.m. Pit passes are $30. All other weekly divisions, including the IMCA Late Models and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, are on the evening’s card and race for all applicable points. Outlaw hosts Atomicwraps.com IMCA Empire State Series Friday show 

DUNDEE, N.Y. – Outlaw Speedway plays host to the IMCA Atomicwraps.com Empire State Series Friday night, with a $500 to win feature for the touring Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded at the May 20 show. IMCA Modified tour dates tote $1,000 to win checks in Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota

BILLINGS, Mont. – Two upcoming tours traveling in three states will give Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified drivers nine opportunities to win $1,000 over the course of just 10 days. All feature races in the June 25-29 Interstate IMCA Modified Challenge Series and the July 1-4 Warriors Rendezvous in Montana series are qualifying events for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and will pay a minimum of $100 to start. Pit gates open at noon and racing starts at 7 p.m. for each event in the Interstate Challenge, which opens Saturday, June 25 at Billings Motorsports Park in Montana. Life in the Past Lane is June 3 at Luxemburg

LUXEMBURG, Wis. – Several restored and replica race cars will be on display under the grand­stand as part of Luxemburg Speedway’s Life In The Past Lane throwback night presented by Au­gie’s Bar and Grill on Friday, June 3. The night will already be special as the 2016 class of Hall of Fame inductees will be honored dur­ing a ceremony at intermission. They are former IMCA national and track Stock Car champion John Gregorich of Kewaunee and Luxemburg residents Roy Ihlenfeldt (former street stock cham­pion and IMCA Modified driver) and former driver and head groundskeeper at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds Jerry Jonet. To add to the nostalgic buzz a number of restored racers will be on display. Tri-Track Late Model Special set at West Liberty Raceway

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa – This Saturday, May 21, West Liberty Raceway will host a special night of Late Model racing featuring the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge. The night’s action will be headlined with a 40-lap iWireless IMCA Late Model main event with the winner taking home the $2,000 first place prize money. This special event is expected to draw a good field of dirt Late Model competitors. In addition to the exciting Late Models all regular classes will also be battling it out for weekly points on the very fast ½-mile dirt oval. Hot laps will take to the track at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. West Liberty Raceway is located on the Muscatine County Fairgrounds on the southeast side of West Liberty.

Sprint Series of Oklahoma back in action Friday at Ardmore

By David Smith, Jr. ARDMORE, Okla. – Andy Shouse leads the Sprint Series of Oklahoma to Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore this coming Friday night, May 20, as the IMCA EMI RaceSaver tour is once again part of the tracks “Fast 5 Friday” series. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with race action slated for a 7:30 p.m. start time. Grandstand prices are $15 for ages 13 and up and $10 for ages 6-12. All pit passes will be $30. In the tour’s last appearance at SOS it was John Carney II picking up his third victory of the sea­son over Joe Wood Jr. and Shouse with a 20-car field pitside. Carney has won three events thus far this season while Brandon Long and Jake Martens have each captured single victories. Southern Oklahoma Speedway is located off I-35 to exit 29, then east on Highway 70 for seven tenth’s of a mile and then south on Highway 77 for two miles.

July 20 is rescheduled Deery Series date at Maquoketa

MAQUOKETA, Iowa – The Deery Brothers Summer Series will light up Maquoketa Speed­way on Wednesday, July 20. Touring IMCA Late Models make that visit after installation of new Musco lighting as well as a new sound system are complete. The evening’s main event pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. No change was made in the daily schedule from the original race date of May 18, as both pit gates and the grand­stand will open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. with racing to follow. The series’ halfway point fund of $9,325 will now be paid following the July 7 event at Kossuth County Speedway in Algona. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and street stocks will also be on the program at Maquoketa. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Per­formance state points will be awarded.

IMCA Modified features at Can-Am Shootout pay $1,000 to win 

WILLISTON, N.D. – Williston Basin Speedway hosts its Can-Am Shootout special this weekend, with $1,000 to win Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified features on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21 race night cards. Both events are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers. Entry fees are $50 and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, BMS North Central Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be given each night. Pit gates open at 3 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing is at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and military, $5 for kids ages 8-14 and free for seven and under. Farley Speedway to host IMCA Late Model special

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa – Farley Speedway will host the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge on Friday, May 20. The Tri-Track Challenge will feature a special night of racing in the Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model division. A 50-lap feature will headline the racing program with the winner in the Late Models going home $2,000 richer. This special event is expected to draw a large field of competi­tors in the exciting Late Model class. In addition to Late Models all weekly divisions will also be in action that evening. Hot laps get under­way on the fast 3/8 mile oval at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Farley Speedway is located on the west edge of Farley, just south of US Highway 20 on Olde Far­ley Road.
