Two complete shows on tap for Lee County Summerfest 

DONNELLSON, Iowa – Summerfest features at Lee County Speedway pay $1,000 to winners of Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main events. The Monday, Aug. 1 Modified feature at Donnellson is a qualifying event for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Stock Cars and Northern SportMods are on both Monday, Aug. 1 and Tuesday, Aug. 2 programs, as are Mach-1 Sport Compacts, running for $300 to win. Complete shows will be run each night at IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Allstar Performance State points will be given. Start money for the Modifieds is $100. Frontier Days shows feature $1,000 to win IMCA Modified mains

LOVELOCK, Nev. – A pair of $1,000 to win, Fast Shafts Allstar Invitational ballot qualifying features are on Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30 Frontier Day cards at Lovelock Speedway. Presenting the Nile Valley 40 lap features are the Nile Valley Race Club and Pershing County Rec Board. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded for each show. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. both nights. Car and driver is $60 a day. Pit passes are $25. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, military personnel and students ages 11-15, and free for kids 10 and under. Des Moines hosts Friday night Deery Series show 

DES MOINES, Iowa (July 26) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series is Des Moines bound for a July 29 event at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Friday’s feature for touring IMCA Late Models pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $20 for adults or $15 with discount coupon available from any Casey’s General Store. Seniors and military are $18 or $13 with coupon, while youth are $10 and five and under get in free. Pit passes are $30. Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls leads the Deery points race coming into the 10th of 16 events in the 30th annual series. Aikey already owns seven Deery championships and counts six Iowa State Fair­grounds feature wins among his series-best 66 checkers. County Fair show takes IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour to Dubuque 

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The seventh Hawkeye Dirt Tour event of the season takes touring Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds to Dubuque Speedway for the first time Tuesday night. The July 26 feature pays $1,200 to win, a minimum of $150 to start and is a qualifying event for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Spectator admission is free with paid admission ($10 for adults) to the Dubuque County Fair. The grandstand is open all day and pit gates open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Pit passes are $30. Cottage Grove readies for Mark Howard Memorial

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. ­– The pit area at Cottage Grove Speedway will be filled with Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds for the 2016 edition of the Mark Howard Memorial Nationals. The event will cover two nights of action beginning Friday, July 22 and concluding Saturday, June 23. The main event winner on Saturday will receive $2,600 along with a spot on the ballot for the 2017 fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Tickets each night are adults $13, juniors and seniors $10, kids ages 6-12 $5 and five and under free. Family passes are $30. In honor of the track’s 60th anniversary the 60th fan through the front gate gets in free. A two-day adult pass will be $20. Three-day swing takes IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour to Des Moines, Osky, Knoxville

DES MOINES, Iowa (July 14) – Three events in as many nights will test the mettle of both men and machines following the Hawkeye Dirt Tour. Traveling Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds are at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in Des Moines on Tuesday, July 19 and at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa on Wednesday, July 20 for $1,000 to win events before running for $1,500 to win on Thursday, July 21 at Knoxville Raceway. Wheatshocker Nationals up next for URSS Rebels 

HAYS, Kan. – The 2016 chase for the Myers Racing Engines URSS National Championship contin­ues this weekend with the Rebels taking to the 3/8-mile oval at RPM Speedway in Hays. RPM will come alive with one of the most anticipated two-day shows on the schedule. Six drivers have captured the coveted crown, Patrick Bourke, Kasey Beckham, Ty Williams, Jake Bubak, Zach Blurton and C.J. Johnson, the only multiple winner of event. Only two drivers, Johnson (2008) and Williams (2012) have swept both nights in the history of the event. MAQUOKETA, Iowa – The second half of the Deery Brothers Summer Series now starts next Wednesday, when the IMCA Late Model tour travels to Maquoketa Speedway for a $2,000 to win show on July 20. Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 4 p.m. for the ninth of 16 events on the 2016 schedule. Beginning at Maquoketa, Sunoco Race Fuels pays a $200 bonus to the feature winner if they’ve maintained perfect attendance throughout the series; that bonus will roll over to the next event if the winner has not been at every previous event. Josh Wren Memorial is Saturday at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. – Arlington Raceway hosts the Josh Wren Memorial this Saturday, July 16, paying $1,000 to the winner of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature. Fans are asked to wear blue, Wren’s favorite color, to do a “blue out” in the grandstand in his memory. All regular weekly divisions are on the program along with the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Pit passes are $25. Wren, who died last November at age 24 of colon cancer, had raced go-karts and later Modifieds at Arlington. He also crewed for his father, IMCA Modified veteran Jerry Wren, for many years.

SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 12) – A test and tune session scheduled for tonight (Tuesday) at Seymour Raceway Park is open to anyone wishing to work on their cars or just get seat time. The pit area will open at 4:30 p.m. and the track will be open from 5-8 p.m. Pit passes are $15. Admission to the grandstand is free.
