URSS Rebels ready for RPM, 81 doubleheader

HAYS, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series will hit the ground running with a double header weekend at one of the driver’s favorite tracks and a trip to one of the region’s most storied tracks.

All eyes will be on the Rebels as the point season begins with trips to two lightning fast 3/8’s-mile ovals.

On Saturday night, May 27, the URSS heads to RPM Speedway in Hays, Kan., for the first of three appearances this season. The Kansas Region date is a make-up for the April 29 race in which Mother Nature claimed victory.

Pit gates will open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and the green flag waves at 7 p.m.

On
Sunday, May 28, the URSS makes its way back to C. Ray Hall’s 81 Speedway in Wichita, Kan., for Sprint Car Maynia. The URSS co-sanctions with the Sprint Series of Oklahoma for a $1,000 to win, minimum $200 to start national points show.

Look for a stout field of racers from both sanctions as Ty Williams, who has two wins in Dodge City, defending IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car national champion Andy Shouse, and 2016 IMCA RaceSaver national rookie of the year Zach Blurton, along with a host of veterans and young guns battle it out.

Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.
