Format announced for Ernst Memorial, Iron Man Challenge at Longdale

LONGDALE, Okla. – One of the biggest weekends of the season at Longdale Speedway is only a little more than one month away. The second annual Darren Ernst Memorial pays $3,000 to win the final night of the two-day IMCA SportMod main event on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 with $3,000 on the line that same weekend for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds during the Iron Man Challenge. The Modified feature is a 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Pit passes are $30 for the Thursday, Sept. 29 open practice that runs from 6-9 p.m. Single-car qualifying will open the competition on Friday, Sept. 30, in both divisions. Drivers will then compete in eight-lap heat races to line up the 20-lap, 24-car feature that will lock the top eight finishers into a bracket race on Saturday, Oct. 1. URSS Rebels return Belleville, Byers

BELLEVILLE, Kan. – After a week off, the United Rebel Sprint Series returns to action this week­end as the URSS Myers Engines National Tour will tackle the Belleville Highbanks in Belleville, Kan., for the second time this year and the Colorado URSS West Region will make its fifth appear­ance this year at Colorado Motor Sports Park in Byers. For the second time in three weeks, the National tour will return to the Belleville Highbanks for a $1,000 to win minimum $200 to start main event. J.D. Johnson has taken two in a row as he notched his first win during the 2015 Belleville Nationals and then backed it up with another dominat­ing performance during this year’s event. Sprint Series of Oklahoma ready for Pat Suchy Memorial

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – What is sure to be highlighted on every race fan and sprint car driver’s schedule for years to come, the inaugural Pat Suchy Memorial featuring the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, will take place this coming Saturday night at Brill Motor Speedway in Meeker, Okla. This event honors the long-time Oklahoma City car owner who owned everything from jalopies, super modifieds and championship dirt cars at Fairgrounds Speedway in Oklahoma City from the 1960’s to the late 1980’s. The Suchy’s Transmission and Auto Repair owner fielded cars for such drivers as Benny Taylor, Aaron Madden Harold Leep and Shane Carson – just to name a few. SportMod Mayhem is Saturday at Dodge City

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – Mayhem will most assuredly ensue as Dodge City Raceway Park hosts the third annual SportMod Mayhem event this Saturday night. While the IMCA SportMods will battle it out for a $1,000 winner’s share, the Aug. 27 card will also include Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Saturday’s racing action atop the 3/8-mile clay oval will go green at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $15 with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Woodward, Okla.’s Mike Roach reigns as defending SportMod Mayhem winner after topping a field of 29 entries last year. Clay Money topped the inaugural version of SportMod Mayhem in 2014.

Mighty Axe Nationals this weekend at North Central Speedway 

BRAINERD, Minn. – A pair of Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying features are on the 15th annual Mighty Axe Nationals program this weekend at North Central Speedway. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win Friday, Aug. 26 and a minimum of $1,000 to win on Saturday, Aug. 27; an additional $200 will be paid if the winner competed on opening night. Inaugural Sander’s Mod Challenge Tour ready to rock Aug. 18-21

By Mike Spieker FARGO, N.D. – What was once a high-paying, one-night, mid-summer special is now a four-race, full-blown Modified tour. It’s the Sander’s Modified Challenge Tour and it’s set to rip through the Red River Valley of North Dakota and Minnesota in August, featuring the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. The Sander’s Modified Challenge began in 2012 at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. The first running of the event featured a $1,000 top prize and a total purse of just over $6,000. Since then, the event has continued to grow by leaps and bounds. The payout for the 2015 edition of the Sander’s Mod Challenge boasted an $18,700 purse, meaning last year’s sixth place finisher was able to take home a bigger check than the inaugural winner. With the larger payouts came record-breaking car counts. United Rebel Sprint Series visits Stockton Friday

STOCKTON, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series will make its first appearance on the historic half-mile oval at the Rooks County Speedway Friday night, Aug. 12 as part of the Kansas Thunder Series. Modified dash is new to IMCA Harris Clash

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (Aug. 5) – Promoter Bob Harris has found a new twist for one of the longest running specials for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. Drivers from eight states are now pre-entered for the 25th annual Harris Clash, which will pay $2,000 to win next Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. The Clash is the second nightly installment of IMCA Speedweek and a qualifying event for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. IMCA Speedweek starts with rich Hawkeye Dirt Tour show at Clay County

SPENCER, Iowa – The first Hawkeye Dirt Tour event at Clay County Fair Speedway will also be one of the top-paying races in the six-plus season history of the series for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds.
