URSS readies for Wheatshocker Nationals 

KAYS, Kan. – After a grueling four races in seven days, with three of those races held last week­end, United Rebel Sprint Series drivers will lock and load for the much-anticipated ninth annual Wheatshocker Nationals at RPM Speedway in Hays, Kan., this Saturday and Sunday, July 15 and 16. Being one of the “Big Ones” of the year, look for many of the top Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska and Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car drivers to be on hand vying for the $2,000 winners share on Sunday night. A customized Pit Boss Smoker Grille provided by Lance Pittman and S&W Supply in Hays will be awarded to the two-day overall point champion. IMCA Modified Madness 50 at Davenport Speedway this Friday 

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The long-anticipated and twice re-scheduled IMCA Modified Madness 50 is up next at the Davenport Speedway this Friday, July 14. Drivers will be competing for the $2,000 first-place prize along with a 2017 Fast Shafts All-star Invitational ballot berth. This is the seventh straight year DRT TRAK Racing Inc. has offered a $2,000-to-win race for the IMCA Modifieds. Kyle Brown of Madrid is the defending champion race winner. Last year, 49 Modi­fied drivers representing four states competed. Also racing will be the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models, Koehler Electric Street Stocks, and the Hawkeye Auto IMCA SportMods, competing for weekly track points. All racing will be on the quarter-mile dirt oval. Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport. Thunder Hill’s Covert Memorial pays $1,000 to IMCA Modified winner 

MAYETTA, Kan. – IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win along with a Fast Shafts All-Star Invita­tional ballot berth this Saturday, July 15 at Thunder Hill Speedway. There is no entry fee. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks complete the card; IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, re­gional, Allstar Performance State and track points will be awarded. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults and free for kids 10 and under. Pit passes are $25.

Freedom 40 and $1,000 to win for Sprint Series of Oklahoma this Friday night 

By David Smith, Jr. MEEKER, Okla. – It will be a night of firsts this Friday, July 14 for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Series makes its way to Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker for the makeup-running of the Freedom 40 rained out back on June 30. Contributions to the purse, to the tune of $1,500, has been added to make this the largest purse in the two-year history for the series with Friday night’s feature winner earning $1,000. Just to start the 20-car feature pays $275. A full night of heat races, last chance and the 40-lap feature finale will be on tap, the most laps ever run the series. IMCA Modifieds race for big checks during I-30’s Ed Jordan Memorial Weekend

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A pair of 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events fill the card for I-30 Speedway’s Ed Jordan Memorial Weekend. The Friday, July 21 Preliminary feature for IMCA Modifieds pays $1,500 to win and a minimum of $150 to start while the Saturday, July 22 Ed Jordan Memorial pays $2,500 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region, Allstar Performance State and track points will be given both nights. If paid by July 19, the $125 entry fee for the weekend includes the driver’s pit pass for both nights. Grandstand admission for adults is $5 on Friday and $10 on Saturday. Boone’s 50th anniversary special event combines with Prelude to Sept. 4-9 IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – As its name would imply, Boone Speedway’s 50th anniversary event will serve as a Prelude to the World’s Largest Dirt Track Event. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods fill the card at the Saturday, Sept. 2 Prelude, giving early arrivals for the Sept. 4-9 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s another night on Iowa’s Action Track. United Rebel Sprint Series conclude Summer Sizzler Tour this weekend 

COLBY, Kan. (July 7) – With night one of the Summer Sizzler Tour in going to Nebraska’s Toby Chapman, United Rebel Sprint Series drivers are preparing to finish out the four-race series with the final three races this weekend in pursuit of the $1,000 winner’s share for the overall champion­ship. Tonight (Friday) the Rebels make their appearance at Thomas County Speedway in Colby, Kan., after being rained out there earlier this spring.
