Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series returns to New Egypt Speedway for opening night

By Erika Palma Wagner NEW EGYPT, N.J. – The Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by the Delaware Auto Exchange is gearing up for their return to New Egypt Speedway for the first time under the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series banner. The IMCA Race Saver Sprint Car series, has four scheduled events at the Central New Jersey D-shaped oval, with April 14th being the first. The series returns there on May 12, July 21 and Aug. 11. Farley Speedway pre-season car show set for March 31 

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa – The annual Farley Speedway pre-season race car show is set to be held inside the beautiful Palace Ballroom on Saturday, March 31. The spacious Palace Ballroom is located on the Farley Speedway grounds and has ample space to host a large number of race cars. The show will get underway at 11 a.m. and will feature free admission to all patrons. A DJ will be on hand for entertainment and will be playing your favorites from 1-5 p.m. The Palace Ballroom will also be featuring drink and food specials throughout the show. In addition, the Farley Speedway Kids Club will host a variety of events for youngsters including an Easter Egg Hunt and the Easter Bunny is also scheduled to make an appearance. Sprint Series of Oklahoma in action Saturday at Enid Speedway

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – After a two-week hiatus, it is back to racing for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products/Hoosier Racing Tires Southwest as the tour makes its inaugural appearance at Enid Speedway this Saturday, March 31. Coming into race three on the 2018 race season, two-time and defending series champion Andy Shouse holds a slim two-point lead over Texas driver Michael Day. Chris Kelly, who has already picked his first feature victory of the season and second SSO victory of career, sits third while Brandon Jennings, Shane Sellers and Austin Mundie are tied for fourth. IMCA Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour opens on Memorial Day at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa – Opening night of the Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour sees the series in action on Memorial Day at Benton County Speedway, the traditional home track of the IMCA Modified division. Wehrs Machine and Racing Products comes on board as presenting sponsor for the tour, which counts forays into Wisconsin and South Dakota among its eight 2018 dates. Saturday practice precedes Dodge City season opener

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – Activity is picking up around the Dodge City Raceway Park 3/8-mile clay oval with opening night just 10 days away. But first, an open practice session is on tap for this Saturday, March 24 from 6-9 p.m. Grandstand admission is free with a $20 fee per person for admittance to the pit area. The practice session is open to all. Saturday’s practice session precedes the 2018 season opener by seven nights, with the Dodge City Raceway Park season officially getting under way on Saturday night, March 31. The March 31 season opener will feature a full card of championship racing action including IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. The March 31 event fires off at 7:30 p.m. with tickets $15 for adults while children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30. In total, the 2018 season at Dodge City Raceway Park is slated for 17 nights of action following Saturday’s open practice session.

Egleston Tribute at Merced postponed to April 14

MERCED, Calif. – Inclement weather gets the blame for postponement of the Bill Egleston Tribute originally schedule for this Saturday at Merced Speedway. IMCA Modifieds now race for $3,000 to win and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for $1,800 to win at the rescheduled event Saturday, April 14. Pit gates open at 1 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. Racing follows 4:45 p.m. hot laps. Car and driver is $50. Pit passes are $40. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 62 and over, military personnel and students with ID, $5 for children ages 6-12 and free for five and under. The Egleston Tribute is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Modifieds and Northern SportMods chase IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, California State and track points; Modifieds also contend for Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region points. Winnemucca’s Classic Shootout rained out, rescheduled for June 2-3

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – Rain is already the winner of this weekend’s IMCA Modified special at Winnemucca Regional Speedway. The High Desert Classic has been rescheduled to Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3. IMCA Modifieds chase top checks of $1,500 both nights with Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berths at stake as well. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start and each main event purse totals $5,500. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region, IMCA State and track points will be awarded for each show. BATESVILLE, Ark. – You couldn’t ask for better weather for this weekend’s Arkansas Spring Nationals at Batesville Motor Speedway. R.M. Van Pay at New Motorama book signing March 23-25

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay native R.M. Van Pay, Wisconsin’s winningest IMCA Modified driver, will join motorsports author Joe Verdegan at a book signing during the fourth annual New Motorama at Shopko Hall in Green Bay March 23-25. Heading into 2018 Van Pay, who currently calls Denmark home, sits atop the state’s all-time list for IMCA Modified wins with 126. Van Pay’s storied racing career is chronicled in a chapter in Verde­gan’s third book, Life In The Past Lane-The Next Generation, which was released in Decem­ber, 2017. Sprint Series of Oklahoma opens at Ardmore 

By David Smith Jr. ARDMORE, Okla. – Sprint Series of Oklahoma drivers and officials are gearing up for a double-header weekend at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore this Friday and Saturday, March 9 and 10. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car drivers from across Oklahoma and north Texas have expressed their in­tentions on competing in one or both events that kick off the 2018 race season for the SSO. Friday’s feature will pay $700 to win while Saturday’s main event pays $750 to win.
