Two practice dates planned before Sunset opener 

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – Sunset Speedway Park is a month away from opening night of its 2015 season. Before that first race there will be a couple chances for drivers and teams to shake down their cars at the “Banks Bullring.” Saturdays, April 4 and 11 are test and tune dates that will allow drivers to dial in their machines in preparation for the upcoming racing campaign. Each session will be from noon-5 p.m. There is no charge for grandstand admission. Pit passes are $25 and car and driver is $30. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds are on the opening night card Saturday, April 18, along with street stocks, pure stocks, dwarf cars, and 4-Bee’s.

Beatrice Spring Nationals pre-entries top 180

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 13) – More than 180 drivers are already pre-entered for Spring Nation­als, which starts tonight (Friday) at Beatrice Speedway. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds race for $2,000 to win this evening and on Saturday, March 14. Berths on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational are also at stake. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for $500 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $400 to win each night. Mach-1 Sport Compacts run for $200 to win on Saturday. PASSCAR opens 20th season Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway

PERRIS, Calif. – After a successful 20th anniversary season opener for sprint cars at Perris Auto Speedway last Saturday night, the Riverside County clay oval will kick off the 20th anniversary PASSCAR season this Saturday, March 14. Saturday’s show will feature Super Stocks, Street Stocks, American Factory Stocks and the highly anticipated return of the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. Saturday’s race will be the first IMCA sanctioned Modified race at The PAS since 2005. Since 2007, the track started sanctioning the class under the PASSCAR banner. At the urging of racers, sanctioning for the division is reverting back to IMCA in 2015. The track has had an increase in the size of the fields for the Modifieds the past few years and going back to IMCA should draw even more cars. Canyon Speedway Park season opener this Saturday

By Lonnie Wheatley PEORIA, Ariz. – It takes two for the Canyon Speedway Park 2015 opener, with ideal weather ushering in the new season with Saturday’s action atop the 1/3-mile clay oval. Following an open practice session on Friday, March 13 from 6-9 p.m., the Saturday, March 14 CSP season opener goes green at 7 p.m. Saturday’s card that was originally set for Feb. 28 will feature the ASCS Southwest Region winged Sprint Cars along with the 9th World Vapor IMCA Modifieds, Arizona Differential Pure Stocks, Scottsdale Muffler and Automotive Renegades and Dwarf Cars. After winning two of three Winter Challenge events at CSP in January, Ricky Thornton Jr. kicks off his pursuit of the track’s 9th World Vapor IMCA Modified title that is worth $2,500 in 2015. Cardinal Speedway opens this weekend with inaugural Black Gold Showdown

EUNICE, N.M. – The first annual Black Gold Showdown brings four IMCA divisions to Cardinal Speedway for season-opening Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 shows. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds vie for $600 to win on Friday and $700 to win on Saturday. Top prize for Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars is $500 each night. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks vie for $300 top prizes. A $500 bonus will be paid to the driver with the top two-day point total in each division. Also at stake both nights are IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Regional, Allstar Performance State and local track points. Hard chargers earn $50 in all main events. Ken Schrader joins IMCA Modified field on opening night at Cotton Bowl

PAIGE, Texas – Ken Schrader joins the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified field on opening night at Cotton Bowl Speedway. Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are on the Saturday, March 14 card. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Saturday will also be Larry Kahler’s first night on the job as director of competition at Cotton Bowl. Completing the program at Paige will be a local stock class and non-wing sprints.

34 Raceway car show, kick-off party set for March 21

BURLINGTON, Iowa – The annual 34 Raceway car show will be held at Heartland Harley-Davidson in Burlington on Saturday, March 21 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A complimentary lunch and free drinks will be served, as well as chances at ticket giveaways. Battle of the Border Series starts this weekend at Cocopah, Imperial

SOMERTON, Ariz. (March 6) – The inaugural Battle of the Border Series takes four IMCA divisions to Arizona’s Cocopah Speedway for three dates and to Imperial Raceway in California for three more shows beginning this weekend.  IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks chase all applicable IMCA points tonight (Friday), Saturday, March 28 and Saturday, April 11 at Somerton. The same divisions are in action with the same points at stake Saturday, March 7, Friday, March 27 and Friday, April 10 at Imperial. Bonuses totaling $1,400 will be paid out to drivers with the highest point totals over the course of the series. IMCA Modifieds race March 4, 5 at LVMS Dirt Track

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Feb. 27) – The half-mile Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway hosts a pair of $750 to win events for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds next Wednesday and Thursday, March 4 and 5. Features pay a minimum of $75 to start with $50 paid to non-qualifiers. Entry fee is $20 a night. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded for both draw/redraw shows. World of Outlaws Sprint Cars are on both programs. West Coast Late Models run on Wednesday and USAC West Coast Sprints on Thursday. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the front gate opens at 5 p.m. Modified heat races start at approximately 8:50 p.m. Wednesday and 8:25 p.m. on Thursday.

Cold forecast cancels Kennedale’s Spring Kick-Off

KENNEDALE, Texas (Feb. 24) – A winter-like forecast has resulted in cancellation of this weekend’s scheduled Spring Kick-Off at Kennedale Speedway Park. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods were on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 28 and March 1 programs. IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars were on the Saturday card. Snow showers and a high of just 37 degrees are in the forecast for Friday, when an open practice had been scheduled. Overcast conditions and more precipitation are anticipated Saturday and Sunday. First local, Allstar Performance State, regional and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national points at KSP will now be given Saturday, March 7.
