Dakota Track Side in 11th season as IMCA sponsor

MINOT, N.D. – Dakota Track Side gives special events awards to IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers this season, its 11th as a sponsor for the sanctioning body. The Minot, N.D., high performance parts retailer and fuel supplier gives $50 product certificates to designated place finishers at 30 Modified and 15 Stock Car specials. 22 drivers already on 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star ballot

VINTON, Iowa – Twenty-two IMCA Modified drivers have already raced their way onto the ballot for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Hunter Marriott counts victories at four qualifying events, including Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour features at Park Jefferson Speedway and Buena Vista Raceway, plus Night of 1,000 Stars and Bob Shryock Memorial All Star races at Hancock County Speedway. Cayden Carter’s Harris Clash victory at Deer Creek Speedway was preceded by wins at Britt’s Hobo 100 and the Illinois Valley Showdown at LaSalle Speedway. Billy Kendall swept Northstar IMCA Modified Tour action, winning at Princeton Speedway, North Central Speedway and Sheyenne Speedway. Zevenbergen makes like lightning at Thunderdome special

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 9) – Elijah Zevenbergen was fast as lightning in winning the Thunderdome feature for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Kossuth County Speedway. Zevenbergen and Derek Green both drew front row spots and chose to start at the back of the field for the $1,000 challenge if either could win the feature. Kevin Opheim jumped out to the early lead with a caution coming out on lap five. David Smith wrestled the lead away off the restart as Green moved into the top four spots only to see a pair of flat tires end his night. Zevenbergen, who was involved in a spinout on lap five and went to the back of the field again, slowly weaved his way through traffic to move into a battle for the lead with Smith and Opheim. Shryock Memorial checkers give Marriott another Hancock County special event win

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 11) – Following his latest visit to victory lane at Hancock County Speedway, Hunter Marriott could lay claim to a singular achievement. Marriott topped Saturday’s Bob Shryock Memorial All Star event, a fast-paced IMCA Modified 40-lapper that ran green to checkered and paid $3,000 to win. Harris Auto Racing in 12th season as title sponsor for Modified Race of Champions

BOONE, Iowa – Harris Auto Racing returns as title sponsor for an event that’s become one of the most prestigious for IMCA Modified competitors. For a 12th consecutive season, the Boone, Iowa, chassis manufacturer and high performance parts retailer provides a portion of the purse to be paid at the Modified Race of Champions, on Sept. 8 during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. East-West Clash sports three Modified features

GILLETTE, Wyo. – Big IMCA Modified paydays are on the line each night of Gillette Thunder Speedway’s 19th annual East-West Clash. Friday, Aug. 31 and Saturday, Sept. 1 features pay $1,000 to win while the Sunday, Sept. 2 main event pays $1,500 to win. All three races are qualifying events for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $250 to win on Friday and Saturday and for $350 to win on Sunday. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Wyoming state and track points will be awarded all three nights. Entry fee each day is $75 for Modifieds and $35 for Hobby Stocks. Seidler takes Dacotah checkers with late pass

MANDAN, N.D. (Aug. 10) – Two was the magic number Friday night for Marlyn Seidler, as he scored his second IMCA Modified feature win of the season at Dacotah Speedway with a pass for the lead with two laps to go. Travis Peery started to pull away from the field early on, but cautions came early and often and worked in Seidler’s favor as he quickly moved through the field from ninth starting to second. Drivers calmed down after a lap eight restart and a fantastic battle for the lead played out between Peery and Seidler. They raced side-by-side until lapped traffic forced Seidler to follow Peery through the slower cars. Contact between Peery and a lapped car reset the field for a four-lap shootout. Another yellow regrouped the field with three laps to go but on the final restart of the night, Seidler looked to the outside of Peery. Salem Memorial highlights weekend for United Rebel Sprint Series

STOCKTON, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series braces for a huge, three-race weekend with the annual Bob Salem Memorial highlighting all the race action. It all begins Friday, Aug. 17 at Stockton Speedway before embarking to Oberlin Speedway Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18-19. It will be a pivotal weekend for the series points standings as just five events remain in the 2018 race season. Nezworski scores Maquoketa Late Model win

By Rob Hinckley MAQUOKETA, Iowa (August 11) – The focus was driving to the front. Andy Nezworski put all the national implications in the back of his mind Saturday evening at Maquoketa Speedway. He slid by Jeremiah Hurst and then Terry Neal to win the 25-lap Andover Meat IMCA Late Model feature. “We’re pretty much out of the national thing,” Nezworski said in victory lane. “We’re a ways back in the points and you have to win a track championship, which we won’t. So we just come out to win races. We’ve had some bad luck recently so this really feels good.” Neal took the top spot from Marty Scheckel early before Hurst passed following a restart about halfway through.
