2nd annual IMCA Missouri Nationals Oct. 8-10 at US 36

OSBORN, Mo. – The second annual IMCA Missouri Nationals is set for Oct. 8-10 at US 36 Raceway. The event features the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. The event is also broadcast live on IMCA TV. Modifieds are racing for $2,000 to win and $200 to start their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational balloting qualifying main event on Saturday. The Friday qualifier pays $400 to win and $100 to start. Sprint Cars also pay $2,000 to win and $200 to start Saturday and $400 to win and $100 to start the qualifier on Friday. Stock Cars pay $1,700 to win the Saturday main event and $100 to start. IMCA Stock Car, SportMod aluminum 4412SA carburetor requirements

VINTON, Iowa (Oct. 1) – Holley’s first production run of new aluminum 4412SA carburetor main bodies have some issues that will affect some IMCA racers. Holley recalled and recovered all first production runs of this carburetor with the exception of one carburetor builder. Holley’s Circle Track Manager Graham Fordyce said, “There was an issue with the original castings that we released to carburetor modifiers (did not fit the sanction gages) so the tooling has been revised. The L6R3250B aluminum castings should NOT be allowed for use in competition.” Effective immediately this original release of casting number L6R3250B aluminum 4412 carburetor will not be allowed in IMCA competition. This product can be identified by the casting number behind the choke horn. Also effective immediately, any driver competing at an IMCA sanctioned event with this product will be disqualified. Tiny Lund wins different kinds of IMCA firsts for Shryock, Van Horn

HARLAN, Iowa (Sept. 25-26) – Kelly Shryock’s Saturday IMCA Modified win was his first ever at Shelby County Speedway’s Tiny Lund Memorial. Dusty Van Horn’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win the same night was his first-ever in the division. Shryock, already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, started on the pole, then had to get the lead back from Jacob Hobscheidt before collecting the $1,528 checkers. “He’s “He’s pretty fast. Antioch’s Bill Bowers Memorial pays $5,000 to IMCA Modified winner

ANTIOCH, Calif. – IMCA Modifieds are in the running for a $5,000 top check at Antioch Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, Oct. 2 and 3 Bill Bowers Memorial. The Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier pays $2,500 for second, $1,250 for third and a minimum of $200 to start. Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods race for $2,500 to win and a minimum of $150 to start, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100. Qualifying starts Friday night; last-chance races and the main events fill the Saturday card. Entry for car and driver for both the Modifieds and Northern SportMods is $200 and $50 each night for Stock Cars. Neisen aces Arlington IMCA SportMod feature

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Sept. 26) – A Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature that ran green to checkers ended with Chris Neisen in victory lane Saturday night at Arlington Raceway. Neisen caught Dave Siercks for the lead on lap seven and stayed in front to the finish. Matt Looft started 11th and chased neisen across the stripe. Ninth stating Clint Hatlestad was the IMCA Modified feature winner, Justin Allen paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main and Matt Speckman raced up another IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory. Cory Probst was the third and final leader in an IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature that saw just a single caution, on the opening lap. Jaedan Erickson topped the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature.

Blurton sweeps URSS WaKeeney Showdown

WaKEENEY, Kan. (Sept. 27) – The Mel Hambelton Ford Racing Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series took to the 3/8-mile dirt track of WaKeeney Speedway for the WaKeeney Showdown finale Sunday night and it was Zach Blurton picking up the $1,000-to-win feature event. Blurton had started the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car weekend at WaKeeney with the $700 feature win on Saturday. Kyler Johnson and Todd Plemons were scheduled to set the pace for Sunday’s 30-lap feature event, but trouble ensued for Johnson during the pace lap causing him to pull off the track and Jake Martens took over the pole starting position. At the drop of the green, Martens marched to the race lead ahead of Plemons while Blurton charged forward to third. Bard brushed aside a bad heat race starting draw and won that event, then moved from his fourth starting position to second on the opening lap and passed early leader Ken Duke Jr. following a lap four restart to take control of the feature. He held off a charging Devin Adams at the end of a race that highlighted several of the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series “young lions.” Bard had led all 20 laps for a July 4 win at Lincoln, countering Doug Dodson’s bid for the lead. SOMERTON, Ariz. (Sept. 25-26) – Two of the young guns in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region raced to notable $1,000 IMCA Modified feature wins at Cocopah Speedway’s season-ending Mike Corning Memorial. Chaz Baca doubled his 2019 win total on opening night, collecting his 16th checkers of the season. Kollin Hibdon, racing closer to home after a summer spent in the Midwest, won for the sixth occasion in his second full season in the division. Already on the Fast Shafts Al-Star Invitational ballot, Baca started the Friday feature from the pole and led all 22 laps en route to career win number 49. Grabouski is 3-for-4 at Mid-America Clash

SALINA, Kan. (Sept. 25-26) – A driver who had a lot of good nights in 2019 had two more of them to end 2020. Jordan Grabouski swept Friday and Saturday IMCA Modified features at Salina Speedway’s Mid-America Clash, won the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature on Friday and then ran second to Elijah Zevenbergen in the Saturday show. The defending national champion in both divisions, Grabouski has followed a more limited schedule this year. Some tinkering before hitting the track helped bring back some of that last season’s magic. “We had a couple pretty good nights there with the Modified. Who’s who in California IMCA racing at Ocean as Hogge wins career fifth Pettit

WATSONVILLE, Iowa (Sept. 25-26) – Bobby Hogge IV stood in victory lane at Ocean Speedway after the IMCA Modified finish that had everybody talking. Hogge chased race-long leader Troy Foulger, then made his last-lap move to the front on the higher line for the $3,006 checkers on night two of the Pettit Shootout at Watsonville. The Pettit win was Hogge’s fifth in the 10 years the special, one of the premier events in IMCA’s Shaw Race Cars Western Region, has been held. “Any time you get a win it’s special and we had almost the whole who’s who in California racing was here this weekend,” the Salinas veteran said, noting the 60-plus IMCA Modifieds and 50-plus Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods entered in the season-ending special. “Ocean is my home track.
