LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions by the State of Nevada, the Duel in the Desert Spring Break set for Feb. 10-13 has been canceled and will not be run.
The restrictions, imposed shortly after the November 2020 Duel in the Desert, limit crowd gatherings and have recently been extended to Feb. 15, 2021. Every effort was exhausted for event approval that was unfortunately not granted.
All online sales will be automatically refunded.
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Entertainment Capital of the World welcomes IMCA Modifieds and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods to town for the Duel In The Desert. Modifieds race for $7,777 to win, Northern SportMods for a top prize of $1,777 at the 22nd annual Duel Nov. 13-16 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. “The Duel continues to be one of our biggest events, with more than 300 drivers from 20-plus states and Canada at last year’s event,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “Both the level of competition and the entertainment away from the track are tough to beat.” The Saturday night Modified feature is a 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. One hundred and seventy-two IMCA Modified drivers and 88 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers are entered in the 21st annual event. That’s 31 more Modified and 25 more SportMod entries than for the same time a year ago. At stake at the biggest event of the season in the Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region is a top prize of $7,777 as well as a 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth for the Modifieds while SportMods vie for $1,777 to win. LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 10) – Dominic Ursetta saw his racing fortunes do a 180 while Peyton Taylor came up aces himself Friday night at the Duel In the Desert. Ursetta won the first IMCA Modified qualifying feature at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, ahead of Nick DeCarlo, five-time and defending winner Jeremy Payne and Johnny Scott. Taylor topped the second qualifier, with 2009 race winner Johnny Saathoff, Tim Ward and Benji LaCrosse in tow. Both races paid $777 to win and sent the top four finishers to Saturday’s $7,777 to win main event. The first car out in his opening night qualifier, Ursetta drew the pole for Friday’s opener and quickly built a growing lead over DeCarlo and Paul Stone.
