Carney sweeps Red River Roundup Sprint features

WICHITA FALLS, Texas ­(March 4-5) –­ John Carney was late getting to the track Friday night, and that was the only time he was late getting anywhere during the March 4-5 Red River Roundup. Carney won both IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car features during the opening weekend for the new Sprint Series of Oklahoma at Red River Speedway, earning $700 on Friday and $1,000 on Saturday. The sweep gave him 14 straight RaceSaver feature wins, including last September’s Sprint Car Nationals. “I had a great car both nights. I could go anywhere on the track with it and that was thanks to my crew,” noted Carney, driver of the Coyote Candle Company ride. Razor banner raised again in IMCA South Central Region for Modifieds 

PLATTE CENTER, Neb. – With both national and Super Nationals championships to its credit last sea­son, Razor Chassis returns in 2016 as title sponsor of the South Central Region for IMCA Modi­fieds. The Platte Center, Neb., chassis builder provides a portion of the $6,000 point fund to be paid to top 10 drivers in the re­gion, which includes tracks in Texas and southern New Mexico, for the third consecutive year. Southern United Sprints run for $2,000 to win Saturday night 

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – There’s a $2,000 top check waiting for the winner of the South Texas Nationals when the Southern United Sprint Series heads to Corpus Christi on Saturday, March 12. The South Texas Speedway show pays a minimum of $350 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State, as well as special series points will be awarded for the IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car event. Pit gates will be open all day and hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. Pit passes are $40. Adult grandstand admission is $15. Hogge gets LVMS Dirt Track monkey off his back with Friday feature win

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 4) – For all his Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified career accomplishments, Friday’s victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was a first for Bobby Hogge IV. The Salinas, Calif., veteran raced from 13th starting to win the main event at the half-mile Dirt Track. The victory was his first in the class at LVMS since he started racing at the Duel In The Desert in the 1990s. “It was a good race for us all night. Obviously, racing from 13th was exciting,” said Hogge. “I’ve missed maybe three Duels In the Desert and this was my first win here in a Modified. CAMARILLO, Calif. ­­– Top drivers in national standings for five IMCA divisions earn product awards again in 2016 from Wilwood Engineering. It’s tradition: Whitwell tops Thursday IMCA Modified main at Dirt Track

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 3) – R.C. Whitwell continued one Las Vegas Motor Speedway tradition Thursday night. He’ll look to improve on another Friday. For the third straight year, Whitwell was Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified winner on opening night of the midweek special at the half-mile Dirt Track. He was the night two runner-up there in 2014 and 2015, a trend he hopes to reverse with another $750 checkers. The victory was his first in 10 starts this season. “I’d already won five or six features by this time last year so it felt pretty good to finally get this one,” said Whitwell, who started on the pole and led all 25 laps. “We got into lapped traffic but I was able to zip through without any problems.” Cody Laney and Bobby Hogge IV also drove Bill Henderson-owned cars and finished second and third, respectively. FREEPORT, Ill. – Hooker Harness doubles its financial commitment to special events competitors in its second year as an IMCA marketing partner. The custom-made seatbelt and shoulder harness manufacturer will give $50 product certificates to fifth-place finishers at 80 special events beginning this season.
