HARLAN, Iowa (Aug. 1, 2026) — Mike “Wahoo” Albertsen sliced through the field from 16th starting to score a thrilling Sunoco IMCA Stock Car victory Saturday night at Shelby County Speedway, highlighting an action-packed program before a large Back-to-School Night crowd.
The defending track champion from Audubon chased down Braden Richards in the closing laps after Richards had taken command following an early battle among Bob Walker and Miciah Hidlebaugh. Richards drifted high exiting turn two, allowing Albertsen to capitalize with the winning move.
The victory was Albertsen’s third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region triumph of the season and came at his third different track in 2026.
Richards settled for second, Thor Anderson charged from 13th to third and earned hard charger honors, Hidlebaugh was fourth, and Larry Robinson Jr. completed the top five.
Heat race wins went to Mike Stapleton, Walker, and Mike Vondrak.
Zeitner Rallies to Late Model Victory
Zach Zeitner rallied from 10th starting to capture the Sunoco IMCA Late Model feature after taking the lead following a restart.
Jack Hearty paced the opening laps before debris brought out a caution. Zeitner seized the opportunity on the restart and pulled away for his 12th victory of the season and fourth at Shelby County Speedway in 2026.
Drew Baker advanced from ninth to finish second and earn hard charger honors, followed by Hearty, Derek Daley, and Jon Plowman.
Hearty and Zeitner won the heat races.
Olsen Dominates SportMod Feature
Cody Olsen dominated a caution-filled Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature.
After moving into the lead, the Red Oak driver was never seriously challenged, collecting his fourth victory of the season and second at Shelby County Speedway.
Hayden Hillgartner finished second, Jacob Beckstrom was third, Jett Larson fourth, and Tommy Tanner completed the top five.
Olsen and Corey Madden earned heat race victories.
Volkert Earns 13th Season Win in Sport Compacts
Levi Volkert raced to another strong performance in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature.
The Correctionville driver grabbed the lead early and drove away for his 13th victory of the season and second at Shelby County Speedway in 2026.
Dalton Woodle finished second, Michael Gardner was third, Evan Ewoldt fourth, and Tyler Fiebelkorn rounded out the top five.
Heat race winners were Woodle, Gardner, and Fiebelkorn.
Shannon Scores Win in Hobby Stocks
Nick Shannon led from the outset to earn his first Shelby County Speedway victory in the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks.
The Council Bluffs driver held off repeated challenges throughout the 15-lapper to become the newest winner in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region this season.
Jeff Fink finished second, Justin Ahrenholtz charged from 12th to third and earned hard charger honors, Derrick Rohe was fourth, and Gage Neese rounded out the top five.
Shannon and Kris Chadwick won the heat races.
