Close Racing Supply NY/Penn IMCA Series Returns to Afton for Fireball 25 on Aug. 8

AFTON, N.Y. (Aug. 4, 2026) — Afton Motorsports Park will honor one of its longtime competitors on Saturday, Aug. 8, as the Fireball 25 pays $1,002 to win for the Close Racing Supply NY/Penn IMCA Series.

The 25-lap special recognizes longtime IMCA Modified driver Gary Roberts and features a unique purse that pays $102 to start the feature, along with $100 to each heat race winner.

The Fireball 25 also serves as a qualifying event for the 2026 Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational. The feature winner will earn eligibility to attempt to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, held during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s in September.

A revenge redraw will determine the starting lineup for the feature.

Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing National, Close Racing Supply Eastern Region and New York State points will be awarded.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m., the main grandstand gate opens at 3:30 p.m., hot laps begin at 5:45 p.m., and racing starts at 6:30 p.m.

Adult pit passes are $35 for members and $40 for non-members. Grandstand admission is $14 for adults, $12 for seniors (62+), veterans, and students (ages 9-13), while children ages 8 and under are admitted free.

NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series has repeat winner as Sites conquers Afton

By Todd Burgess AFTON, N.Y. (July 30) – Brad Sites overcame another bad draw to become the first repeat winner in the NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series Friday at Afton Motorsports Park. The 25-lap main event had Joe Novak and Rodney Morgan lead the field to green as series point leader Sites took the initial green from the ninth starting spot. Novak jumped out to the early lead but it was short-lived as he pushed wide out of turn four on lap three and Rodney Morgan was right there to grab the top spot. Just as the pass was made, the caution flew which resulted in Keith Jack Lamphere starting at the rear of the field on the ensuing green as Sites had already moved up to sixth. Belcher Captures Sean Lias Memorial Victory at Woodhull Raceway

(May 30, 2026) — The Close Racing Supply NY/Penn IMCA Modified Series returned to Woodhull Raceway on Saturday night for the sixth annual Sean Lias Memorial presented by Chasin Dreams Transport and Lubic Sales and Marketing, with 18 drivers taking the green flag for the 25-lap feature. Tyler Belcher of Laceyville, Pennsylvania, started from the pole and led every lap on his way to victory. The win was Belcher’s first Close Racing Supply Eastern Region triumph of the season. The Sean Lias Memorial also served as a Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifier, making Belcher eligible to attempt to qualify for the invitational during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s in September. (Nov. 1, 2025) — The Close Racing Supply NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by Insinger Performance wrapped up its season Saturday night at Thunder Mountain Speedway, where 27 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified competitors converged for the richest event in the tour’s five-year history. The Ed and Jan Billings Classic headlined the evening, paying $3,016 to the winner and promising a dramatic conclusion to the 2025 campaign. When the green flag flew on the 26-car feature, Charlie Fulton wasted no time jumping out to an early lead. Keith Lamphere, however, quickly found his rhythm and powered past Fulton on lap 10. His time out front was short-lived, as Fulton came charging back just two laps later, finding speed on the high side to reclaim the top spot. The one-night special will utilize a draw/redraw format and offers a minimum of $125 to start the 20-car feature. The Terry Wojtek IMCA Stock Car All-Star Qualifier Race serves as a qualifying event for the 2026 B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Stock Car Invitational. Pearce Earns $1,000 Antioch Modified Victory

(Aug. 1, 2026) — Andrew Pearce of Oakley captured the $1,000-to-win Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature Saturday night at Antioch Speedway, earning his first DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region victory of the season. After winning his heat race, Pearce drew the outside front row starting position and led all 20 laps. Tyler Browne settled into second early before Bobby Hogge worked past him on lap 18. A late caution for Troy Foulger’s flat tire set up a two-lap dash to the finish, but Pearce maintained his advantage on the restart to secure the victory. Hogge finished second, Foulger held on for third, Browne crossed the stripe fourth, and Jim Pettit II completed the top five.
