ALGONA, Iowa (June 25, 2026) — Jake McBirnie tracked down early leader Nick Meyer in the closing laps to capture the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature and the $1,850 Wild Bill Cook Memorial Shootout victory Thursday night at Kossuth County Speedway.

Meyer controlled the opening stages and still led at the halfway point of the 20-lap contest, while McBirnie steadily reeled him in after starting third. The Boone driver completed the winning pass with five laps remaining and drove away to score his first Razor Chassis North Central Region victory of the season.

The victory also came in a Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifying event. McBirnie had already secured eligibility to attempt to qualify for the invitational during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s with a qualifying victory last October.

Meyer settled for second, while Chaz Baca Jr. finished third ahead of Harris Clash winner Joel Rust and Matt Looft.

Logue Holds Off McBirnie in Stock Car Thriller

Johnathan Logue survived multiple cautions and a furious late challenge from Jake McBirnie to win the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature and collect the $1,750 winner’s share.

The Logansport driver grabbed the lead at the drop of the green before a caution on lap 10 created controversy after oil from Troy Swearingen’s engine caused the leaders to spin under yellow. Following a brief stop in the hot pit, the front-runners regained their positions and resumed the battle.

McBirnie, who started ninth, briefly slipped ahead on lap 11 before Logue answered one lap later. The pair raced side-by-side over the closing circuits before Logue edged away to earn his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season and second at Kossuth County Speedway.

The feature also served as a B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Stock Car Invitational qualifier. By taking the victory, Logue earned eligibility to attempt to qualify for the invitational during the Super Nationals.

Colby Fett turned in one of the night’s strongest drives, charging from 12th to second. McBirnie finished third, McCain Jennings placed fourth and Derek Green advanced from 11th to complete the top five.

Logue also collected an additional $250 by winning the Stock Car Cash Dash.

Simpson Takes SportMod Victory at the Stripe

Jake Simpson made his move when it mattered most, slipping past Kamdyn Haggard at the flag stand to steal the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature victory.

After Slade Fitzgerald paced the opening laps, Haggard took command and appeared headed for victory until late cautions set up a dramatic green-white-checkered finish.

Starting eighth, the hometown Algona driver battled Haggard and Alec Fett over the final two laps before edging ahead at the finish line for his fourth victory of the season at Kossuth County Speedway.

Haggard finished second while Fett advanced from 10th to third. Josh Appel charged from ninth to fourth and Jacob Tacheny rounded out the top five.

Jahnz Charges Late for Hobby Stock Victory

Austin Jahnz completed a late-race charge to win the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature after a caution-filled 22-car main event.

Darin Johnson led early before James Burns inherited the top spot after Johnson spun on lap six. Burns appeared in control until Jahnz, who started 10th, found his way to the front with three laps remaining.

The Lewisville, Minnesota, driver earned his 13th victory of the season, including his 10th in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region and his second at Kossuth County Speedway in 2026.

Burns crossed the line second while Chris Krug rallied from 11th to third. Jade Lange earned hard charger honors by advancing from 19th to fourth, with Josh Sidles completing the top five.

Burns also won the Hobby Stock Cash Dash, earning an additional $150, while Steve Wickman and Doug Wickman collected $75 each for finishing second and third.
