Tyler Scores First Career Virginia Sprint Series Victory at Dixieland Speedway

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (June 12, 2026) — Robert Tyler raced to his first career RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car victory Friday night at Dixieland Speedway with the Virginia Sprint Series.

On one of the hottest and most humid nights of the season, Tyler stayed cool under pressure as he worked his way into the lead and never looked back despite threatening weather around the coastal clay oval.

Fifteen RaceSaver Sprint Cars signed in for the event, which was sponsored by Great Bridge Muffler and Brake and Bay Concrete. Tyler and Billy Hubbard earned heat race victories.

Matt Mullins and Tyler led the field to green for the feature, with Mullins pacing the opening laps while Tyler, Ben McCall, Dylan Shatzer, and Hubbard settled into line behind him. Mullins held the bottom groove effectively until he drifted slightly off the preferred line, opening the door for Tyler to slip underneath and seize the lead.

As Tyler stretched his advantage, McCall worked his way into second while Mullins began battling brake issues. Shatzer and Hubbard also moved into contention as Mullins struggled to maintain position.

Tyler remained smooth and consistent around the bottom groove over the closing laps, keeping McCall at bay while the rest of the field searched for a way to close the gap. The laps clicked off quickly, and Tyler drove under the checkered flag to secure his first career victory.

McCall finished second, followed by Shatzer, Hubbard and Daren Bolac.

Harris is fastest mover at the Bridge

(Aug. 20, 2022) – Jerald Harris in the Harris Moving Sprinter showed he can move on track as well winning both his heat and feature, sweeping the Virginia Sprint Series show Saturday evening at Natural Bridge Speedway.  Caleb Harris and Bill Rice paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature to green with Rice out first and Jerald Harris right behind up high on the oval.  Rice stayed out front after a quick yellow with Harris second and Lance Christie, Matt Mullins and Joe Leavell rounding out the top five. The front three stayed right with each other as Leavell made his way to fourth. Heffner hoists Hagerstown hardware

By Jim Haines HAGERSTOWN, Md. (June 15, 2024) – The annual Dad’s Night Out Race at Hagerstown Speedway didn’t disappoint from Kenny Heffner’s perspective. Heffner led the distance in winning the Saturday event, contended by 41 IMCA RaceSaver sprinters and co-sanctioned by the Virginia Sprint Series, Laurel Highlands Sprint Series and Pennsylvania Sprint Series. AJ Barton and Heffner paced the feature field to green with Heffner inching out front up top as Barton stayed low and stayed close with Zac Rhodes quickly in third with Tim Iulg and Austin Reed rounding out the early top five.  After a quick caution, Heffner showed a smooth, steady pace keeping his lead as the field raced behind to track him down. Scarborough wins sprint to photo finish checkers at Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (May 21, 2022) – John Scarborough was the photo finish winner, in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event co-sanctioned Saturday by the Virginia Sprint Series and Laurel Highlands Sprint Series at Hagerstown Speedway. Heats kicked off the night with Scarborough and Andrew Boyer taking wins before it was off to the feature.  Scarborough and Tylor Cochran paced the field to green with Scarborough shooting out like a jet and trying to get away with Reed Thompson, Cochran, Scott Lutz and Donnie Hendershot chasing. Everything was going Scarborough’s way until a caution for a slowing car bunched the field up. On the restart, Scarborough tried to get away again but Cochran found his grove and stayed close as Hendershot made his way to third. With two laps to go, Cochran was on a charge and was right there as the white waved.
