MINOT, N.D. (May 24, 2026) — The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks produced one of the most exciting races of the evening Sunday at Nodak Speedway as Minot’s Caden Appelt charged from 12th starting position to collect his third straight feature victory to open the season.

Ethan Beckedal paced the early laps before Saskatchewan’s Diezel Raynard worked his way into the lead. After going off the track in the opening corner earlier in the feature, Appelt stormed back through the field using the high side to perfection.

Appelt grabbed the lead with eight laps remaining and never looked back to secure his third consecutive win at Nodak Speedway and in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region.

Zach Hughbanks finished second, while Raynard charged from ninth to third. Alan Bertsch advanced from 17th to fourth, and Tyson Grinstead completed the top five after starting 10th.

Hagen Capitalizes Late for Modified Victory

The Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature saw several lead changes before McGregor’s Travis Hagen emerged victorious.

Caden Germundson led the opening three laps before Isaac Sondrol took command. Sondrol paced the next three circuits until his brother-in-law Marcus Tomlinson grabbed the top spot. Tomlinson appeared headed toward victory until contact with a lapped car cut down a tire and handed the lead to Jason Wolla.

Wolla led briefly before spinning entering turn one, allowing the eight starting Hagen to capitalize and lead the final seven laps for his second victory of the season both at Nodak Speedway and in the Razor Chassis North Central Region.

Isaac Sondrol finished second, while Steven Pfeifer charged from 20th to third. Dalton Flory advanced from 15th to fourth, and Brady Bjella rounded out the top five.

Glasser Uses Traffic to Secure SportMod Triumph

The Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods delivered another entertaining feature. Trenton Ervin led the opening lap before Sladen Pfeifer took over. Pfeifer’s lead was short-lived as Keenan Glasser moved to the front following a lap four restart.

Chad Strachen used lapped traffic to work around Glasser on lap 10, but Glasser returned the favor late in the race. Using traffic to his advantage with five laps remaining, Glasser regained the lead and drove away for the victory.

The Estevan, Saskatchewan driver started sixth and earned his third win of the 2026 season, with two coming at Nodak Speedway. Strachen settled for second ahead of Tim Goodwin. Robby Rosselli crossed the line fourth, while Stan Tomlinson climbed from 10th to fifth.

Deschamp Overcomes Damage for Stock Car Score

The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars endured a caution-filled feature, but Westhope’s Gabriel Deschamp overcame early damage to score the win.

Despite sustaining damage in a lap one incident, Deschamp methodically worked through the field and grabbed the lead with around 10 laps remaining. He survived multiple restarts to secure his second EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season at two different tracks.

Deschamp started 10th in the feature. Marcus Tomlinson advanced from 12th to second, while Brennor Grinstead finished third. Bob Fuegmann put together an impressive run from 18th to fourth, and Brock Beeter completed the top five.

Schwartz Earns First Career Sport Compact Victory

The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature saw Harrison Schwartz score his first career feature victory.

Schwartz grabbed the early lead before Austin Dubois and Zach Hughbanks both worked past him. With five laps remaining, contact between Dubois and Hughbanks sent Hughbanks to the pits and forced Dubois into the hot pit for repairs.

That reopened the door for Schwartz, who reassumed the lead and held on for the memorable victory.

The Foxholm driver started fifth. Landen Mikkleson finished second, while Nicholia Topolski crossed the line third. Dubois recovered for fourth ahead of J.B. Schwartz.
