Hubbard Hustles to Fast Friday Victory at Dixieland with Virginia Sprint Series

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (May 8, 2026) — Billy Hubbard put together a perfect night with the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars of the Virginia Sprint Series, sweeping both his heat race and the feature on Fast Friday at Dixieland Speedway.

Hubbard, from Cobbs Creek, set the tone early by winning his heat, while Matthew Leach also scored a preliminary victory.

When the feature went green, Hubbard and Jerald Harris led the field to the stripe, with Hubbard immediately seizing control. Harris settled into second, with Leach holding third in the early stages.

The race went caution-free, allowing Hubbard to showcase his speed out front as he steadily stretched his advantage over the field. Behind him, Harris maintained second while a spirited battle unfolded for the remaining podium positions.

Chris Humblet worked his way into third and joined Leach and others in trying to mount a late charge, but time ran out before anyone could challenge the leader.

At the finish, it was Hubbard comfortably out front, followed by Jerald Harris in second and Humblet in third. Leach crossed the line fourth, with Caleb Harris completing the top five.

Shatzer sails in opener for Virginia Sprint Series

(June 5) – Dylan Shatzer’s first trip to the tidewater area ended up being smooth sailing but much faster all the way to the Friday night Virginia Sprint Series win at Dixieland Speedway. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car season-opening feature was lined up with Jake McLain and Shatzer on the front row. With the green flag waving Shatzer was out first with McLain and Bronzie Lawson fighting for second right away. The track was fast with Shatzer showing smooth was the way to go as he kept pulling away lap after lap with Lawson getting to second and setting his sights on the front. Tom Humphries made his way to third by lap 15. After a quick yellow to push a stalled car from the track, Shatzer took off and the laps ran out, leaving Lawson in second and Humphries third. Bolac blazes at The Bridge for first Sprint win of season

(July 13) – Daren Bolac changed almost everything after his heat and it really paid off as he took his first Virginia Sprint Series win of the year Saturday at Natural Bridge Speedway. Bill Rice and Bolac rolled the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green with Bolac out first, Rice staying low in second and Mike Lerass and Nick Tucker fighting for third. Lerass used Bolac’s line to get a run on Rice and was quickly in second. Jerald Harris and Scott Lutz made their way to the front and soon got by Rice. The rest of the field stayed in pursuit of the front duo, who continued a mistake-free high line, low line battle. Harris is first to repeat 2023 Virginia Sprint Series checkers

SHENANDOAH, Va. (July 15, 2023) – The Virginia Sprint Series got its first repeat winner of the season Saturday night as Jerald Harris streaked to a second straight IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory as black clouds rolled toward Shenandoah Speedway. Also the feature winner two weeks ago at Langley Speedway, Harris prepped for the main event by topping his heat race then, with inclement weather on the way, helped Daren Bolac leading the main event field to green. Harris stayed a little high and swept around Bolac to take the top spot as Aaron Leach made his way to third. Laps flew by on the pavement as Harris stayed smooth with tire management a priority. (May 9, 2026) — The most electrifying run of the night at Eagle Raceway came in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods, where Cole Wayman stormed from 16th to score a dramatic victory. After an early multi-car incident shuffled the field, the Lincoln driver methodically worked his way forward, cracking the top five before charging into second with seven laps remaining. (May 9, 2026) — Cole Logan put on a show in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds, charging from ninth to score a second straight victory at Skagit Speedway and in the DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region. The Burlington driver worked his way into contention and sat third as the laps wound down before making his decisive move on lap 19. Carrying momentum around the extreme high side, Logan swept past Adam Holtrop and Rick Smith in the same corner to take command.
