STUART, Iowa (May 14, 2025) — Dallon Murty made the most of his father Damon’s ride Wednesday night at Stuart Speedway, capturing the $2,000 payday in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car portion of the Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel. The Chelsea native surged past Dillon Solum for the lead on a lap seven restart after Solum and Buck Schafroth battled intensely for the top spot in the opening laps. Schafroth, the two-time defending track champion, fended off several slider attempts from Solum before the Oregon transplant finally found a way around him on the seventh circuit.

Murty appeared to be in control until a lap 21 caution erased his sizable advantage. A brush with oil in turn three nearly cost him the win as the fluid brought out the yellow, setting up a green-white-checkered finish. Despite the scare, Murty nailed the restart and maintained his line to secure his fourth EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season and third at Stuart.

Behind Murty, Schafroth regrouped to finish second, narrowly holding off Mike Albertsten, a two-time Iowa State champion, in a tight battle to the stripe.

Richards Outlasts Burg in Hobby Stock Thriller

The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks delivered another barnburner at Stuart Speedway, with Dillon Richards emerging victorious in a thrilling 25-lap, $1,000-to-win feature. Richards, who started 12th, used the top line to reel in early leader Andrew Burg, a 2016 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s champion, and made his move with just one lap to go.

Burg led the majority of the race and fended off repeated challenges from Kolby Sabin and Richards, but a late restart with four laps remaining brought Richards back into contention. The Beatrice, Nebraska driver powered around the outside of Burg in the final corner, securing his second straight win at Stuart, 12th in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region, and 20th overall in 2025. Sabin finished third in the action-packed affair.

Mallicoat Goes Flag to Flag in Modifieds

Izac Mallicoat maintained a blistering pace on the high side of Stuart Speedway’s ¼-mile oval, going wire-to-wire to capture his fourth Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win of the season and second in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Mallicoat survived a pair of cautions, including a lap 13 tangle between back markers that brought the field to his rear bumper.

While Mallicoat pulled away on the restart, Todd Shute and Cody Laney waged a fierce battle for second. Shute, the 2007 Super Nationals winner, eventually won out, holding back Laney to claim the runner-up spot. Laney, the 2021 Super Nationals champion, rounded out the top three.

Carter Outlasts Kuehl for SportMod Victory

Brayton Carter delivered another dominant performance in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, battling back from ninth to grab his 10th win of the season. Taylor Kuehl, the 2023 Lady Eagle winner, led the first 16 laps and held strong against Carter’s advances before a lap 17 caution negated Carter’s pass for the lead.

On the restart, Carter powered by Kuehl on the high side, taking command and never looking back. Kuehl finished second, while Matt Avila completed the podium after a solid late-race push.

Fineran Breaks Through for First Sport Compact Win

Blake Fineran notched a career milestone in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact division, securing his first-ever feature win after a dramatic final lap pass. Michael Gardner led from the outset and appeared to be on his way to a dominant win, but a mechanical issue on the white flag lap allowed Fineran to capitalize, charging from fourth to first in the closing moments.

Fineran, a rookie, celebrated the breakthrough victory as Colbin Funke and Gardner rounded out the top three.
