• Kemper, Madden, Wyett score big CJ wins
by Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 17, 2024) – Mother Nature provided a perfect evening for dirt track racing at CJ Speedway Friday evening. The night started off with the conclusion of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main event that was suspended one week earlier by rains that fell with five laps scored. The main event picked up on lap six with Luke Phillips leading the pack to the green on the restart. Phillips went on to lead the final seven laps for the win while a whole lot of racing went on for the runner-up spot. At the checkers it was a family affair as Shane Richardson took second ahead of John Richardson with Jason Shutterle crossing under the checkers in fourth.  Following the conclusion of that feature, racing continued as CJ Speedway hosted a full program of racing on Extreme Rentals Night at the races. Austin Kemper scored the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win in his new B & B Racing Chassis car. It had been six years since Kemper had [Read More]
  • Shryock doubles down at Hancock County
By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (May 17, 2024) – Kelly Shryock drove his way to the front twice Friday night during the School’s Out for Summer event, sponsored by Trulson Auto Parts & Service at Hancock County Speedway. In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Shryock started sixth and ran down early leader Todd Stinehart, who stayed close through the midpoint of the race until Shryock was able to pull away over the late stages. Jeremy Mills got around Stinehart at the end to finish second. In the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Shryock wheeled the topside of the speedway from the 10th starting spot to capture the win. It wasn’t easy, though, as early leader Heath Tulp would not go away and raced to Shryock’s inside several times late but couldn’t return to the lead. In a mad scramble to the finish, Colby Fett snuck past Tulp for second.  Once again, the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods put on a dandy race at Britt. Alec Fett held the lead for much of the race until late when a lap [Read More]

  • Everything right for Wagner’s first IMCA win
JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 16, 2024) – The right track, the right car and the right driving style all combined to put Dan Wagner in Park Jefferson Speedway’s victory lane Thursday night. Wagner topped the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature for his career-first feature win in any class, holding off Matt Bonine in the final circuits. “It was very satisfying because of all the hard work we’ve put in,” said Wagner, who raced in 2001 and in 2007 before taking off 15 years to follow his five kids’ multitude of activities. “We have an old-style driving style in a modern era and that’s a little like oil and water.” Wagner ran a Harris car in his 2022 and 2023 Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod campaigns. He’s back on track in the 2021 Harris ride previously piloted by Cody Thompson with a self-designed rear suspension more accustomed to what he’s used to from back in the day. After starting outside the front row, he led Thursday’s 20-lapper from the first corner to the finish. “It was a [Read More]
  • Eagle checkers fly for Zoubek
By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 11, 2024) – It’s been a while but Bob Zoubek was back in victory lane Saturday at Eagle Raceway. After missing the last half of the 2023 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season with a shoulder ailment, Zoubek started sixth and finished first in the Mom’s Rule Night feature for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. “Nate Thompson and I kind of went at it for a while but finally on that (lap eight) restart I cleared him and went to the top,” said Zoubek, last a winner at Eagle on June 17 of 2023. “The car wasn’t the best and I almost spun out once. But I gathered it up from there and took off. At the end Chad Andersen made it really interesting, putting a clean slide job on me, but I held on to win by a nose.” Andersen ended in second and Thompson came home third, with Mike Densberger holding on for fourth. Rookie Thomas Etherton’s fourth start in the class ended in his first IMCA Sunoco [Read More]
  • Hancock County SportMod Nationals win is Anderson’s for third time
By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (May 13, 2024) – Eddyville’s Logan Anderson has been to Hancock County Speedway in Britt exactly three times, each during the tracks annual Gold-Eagle Cooperative IMCA Spring Fling SportMod Nationals. On Monday night, he ran down leader Colby Fett in the closing laps to score his third Spring Fling Nationals victory in as many tries.  Jared Boumeester led the first few circuits of the $2,000 to win main event before Justin Klynsma and Jake Sachau took over first and second, respectively. Contact between the two resulted in a caution with both drivers retiring from the event. In the late stages Colby Fett built a sizable lead before Anderson ran him down for the win. Alec Fett finished third, Cam Reimers raced from 12th to fourth and Matt Looft completed the top five.  In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Drew Janssen was in control until his engine expired and the resulting oil on the track necessitated a caution. When the race resumed, Kyle Heckman was the leader and he survived a couple [Read More]

Allen finished second ahead of a fast-closing Gage Neal.  Jeff Larson captured another win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified division. Larson threaded the needle on the initial green flag and got to the front quickly from his sixth position start.  Larson then [Read More]

By Randy Pospishil sports@norfolkdailynews  NORFOLK, Neb. (May 11, 2024) – The 2024 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season, and with it the chase for individual points championships, began Saturday night at Off Road Speedway.  Among the feature winners in the sanctioned classes competing on a weekly basis were Anthony Roth in the IMCA Sunoco Late Models, Cameron Wilkinson in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Nic Kimmel in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and James Roebuck in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. • IMCA Stock Car win shocks ex-street stocker Domagala
By Becca Pelkey MANDAN, N.D. (May 10, 2024) – A driver with admittedly low expectations for his rookie IMCA Sunoco Stock Car season was a feature winner in his first start in the new division. Hunter Domagala won the first weekly feature for the Stock Cars at Dacotah Speedway, taking advantage of a late-race caution and miscues by the two cars running ahead of him following the ensuing restart. “We had very little expectations. I’m kind of shocked we won,” said Domagala, the WISSOTA Street Stock champion the last four years that class ran at Mandan. “There’s a whole new learning curve with this class and I told my crew we were going to try to learn something new every night. Our end of the year goal was to win once, with all the competition, a whole new car (a 2022 Medieval by DeVilbiss) and a whole new set of rules.” Nineteen cars were entered Friday and Domagala started seventh and finished fourth in his heat. After a complete restart in the main event, pole [Read More]
  • Seibold rings up career first IMCA Stock Car win

Mike Nichols, IMCA’s all-time wins leader, Texas hotshoe Shelby Williams and Todd Gereau completed the top four behind him. “It was pretty amazing, to say the least. The top five or six guys there were fast, really fast,” said Seibold, “and when they showed up and I saw them pulling into the pits I thought to myself that this was going to be a rough night.” He added fuel but made no setup changes after going backwards in his heat, accurately figuring what his car and the track would do in the main event. Seibold drew the outside front row start, passed Corey Frye early and led the last 18 of 20 circuits, keeping Nichols & Co. at bay in a green, white, checkered finish. “He never [Read More]
